1024/New Cat in Town

From Radiant Heart MUSH

New Cat in Town
Date of Scene: 20 January 2024
Location: Clover Tower
Synopsis: Adrien invites Naru to watch him at work. Kazuo is out shopping, and Riventon is ALSO working in the not-good way! What's a girl to do when she finds herself with a Miraculous that isn't hers? Nekonaru to the rescue!
Cast of Characters: Adrien Agreste, Naru Osaka, Kazuo Saitou, Takashi Agera

Adrien Agreste has posed:
It's a beautiful sunny day! Unfortunately it's Winter so it's also crisp and cold. There's a smattering of snow that has fallen coating any nearby trees and bushes with a little frosting-top that looks rather nice while the streets and sidewalks have thankfully been cleared by this time of day. Which means it's perfect for the scheduled photoshoot that Adrien Agreste was at.

Dressed in a rather smart business-like suit and a tan over coat as was all the rage these days, he looks like some rich heir to a conglomerate-- Which is pretty accurate. He stands near Naru approaching the destination with the very tall, massively shouldered Gorilla (I mean, his bodyguard) walking behind them.

"Thanks for joining me today, Naru. I'll try to make this go as quick as possible so we can explore the tower after."

Gorilla (I mean, his bodyguard) clears his throat when they stop walking, and Adrien flashes a quick smile. "Be right there, I swear, just finalizing plans. I'll catch up. Could you tell the photographer I'll just be a minute?"

With a grunt a nod is given, and the overly large man stalks off to meet up with a local photographer who already was set up closer toward the tower. Adrien watches him go just a moment then turns back toward Naru. Grasping her hand he places an item into it.

"Since you're here with me today, could you take care of this until I'm done? I usually take it off during shoots and I'd feel better if it were safe with you." It's a silver signet ring. Nothing overly special, but he did always wear it, usually.

Naru Osaka has posed:
It's an outdoor shoot, and Naru was warned to dress warmly. Standing around, not under lights, is a very different experience. She's bundled up in wooly tights, and a longer skirt than usual and a warm coat with a scarf. Her hat has fox ears peeking up from it, utterly adorable.

Naru's smile for the bodyguard is warm, trying to look utterly innocent to encourage the giant of a man to give the teens a couple moments of alone time. Such as it is.

Naru lifts a mittened hand for the ring that Adrien is sliding to her and she glances down at it, a little blink of surprise. "Are you sure?" She barely waits for an answer before she's nodding. "I'll keep it safe." She leans over, settling a kiss on his cheek. "Have fun!"

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
It is indeed a beautiful sunny day! And that is why Kazuo is out today on a family-assigned errand, one that has his expression set in grimly put-opon lines as he emerges from the mall at the base of the tower. There is, of course, a shopping bag in hand. Thankfully, it's a blandly opaque reusable one, so all that can be told about it from a distance is 'it's forest green.' He pulls his own coat a little tighter, moving with the flow of people, and --

There is a notably absent flow of people over there.

Oh. Mostly because the lure of 'photographer' does not overcome 'that person is three times the size of the average shopper or tourist.' Maybe more than that. It's hard to estimate bulk under winter clothes.

... oh. And there is Naru and well-dressed company. Perhaps Kazuo will stay in the stream of people for a moment. If Adrien leaves her alone, that's one thing, but at the moment? Not about to interrupt the pair.

Takashi Agera has posed:
On this crisp winter's day, it is not only Adrien who is out doing work for a corporate entity, but Takashi Agera AKA Riventon as well, who is out looking to get his own work done. Sure, he's got plans and projects aplenty going on right now - but he's also just got to do the standard, every-day work of making sure his department has energy. Not only is it incredibly important within the company - energy being funneled and traded around like income might be in a more normal company - but Beryl Holdings in particular has need of it, with so much energy lost due to the escaping Shitennou and Mamoru, the entity known as Metallia has gone quiet again, and another grand influx of energy is required to rouse her from her slumber.

Which means that those employed by Beryl Holdings, which as of recently includes Takashi and his crew, need to harvest energy. Without a true plan in mind other than just getting it done, Riventon's been looking for a proper group of people to drain from. So while the streets and sidewalks directly near Adrien's photoshoot have been cleared, those at the nearby shopping center are much more packed in.

Now all he needed was the youma - the trouble was, youma were so consistently, well... intellectually underwhelming. And Riventon really didn't want to babysit a youma one-thing-at-atime. He needed something with intelligence of some form... and then an idea forms in his mind and a smirk with it. Intelligence. Even if it was artificial. And look at that, there's a trendy computer store right there.

The traditional warning of bad magical news erupts in the form of that cold malicious power, that shudder up spines, the surge of Dark Energy not too far away that the people who were magically inclined would notice, the feeling mahou get just moments before everything goes upside-down.

Adrien Agreste has posed:
Adrien Agreste smiles at Naru's apparent hesitance to take the ring. "Of course I'm sure. It's way safer with you than stuffed in my pocket or bag." With that he leans in to press a quick kiss to her cheek, then the other cheek, in true French style. "Thanks, Naru. Enjoy the show!"

With that Adrien turns to walk toward the area where the photographer and the intimidating bodyguard were waiting with a hand lifting to wave in greeting. A short conversation starts that's nearly impossible to hear but it's easily understood as the photographer points over to a spot. Adrien moves toward it with a single nod.

Without breaking stride he lifts his hands to tug at the buttoned front of his coat slipping the buttons out so that one side suddenly blows open with what wind there is mid-step he turns half-to the side as if he were just... walking and caught in the wind, his attention turned toward the tower while he was putting his coat in. Then he turns again, heels coming together. One knee bends slightly as he tips his head back to run fingers through his hair. The hand drops immediately after to bring up his opposite hand looking at the designer watch on his wrist, and then adjusting it.

It's all a carefully orchestrated series of moves that results in several camera flashes. Almost like a dance that just results in poses. Which of course leaves him COMPLETELY unaware of his surroundings for the moment as he's just focused on work.

Plagg, the Kwami of the Cat Miraculous currently in Naru's posession, pops his head up out of her scarf with a quiet, "Hey Naru! I see Adrien's hard at work again." A little sniff of the air is taken, and his green eyes narrow. "Uh-oh. Something around here stinks-- And unfortunately it's not cheese this time."

Naru Osaka has posed:
Naru slips off her mitten to tuck the ring inside before she settles to watch, trying not to be in the way. She looks over and waves a little to Kazuo as she spots him, mittened hand flashing towards him.

"Hi Plagg." Naru glances down at the little mascot kitty in her scarf. "Are you staying warm enough in there?" She asks and then pauses a moment at his comment. A little frown on her face as she comments. "Well.. that's going to be highly inconvenient."

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
A parting from Adrien, and a wave, mean that Kazuo migrates his way out of the stream and up beside Naru, bag in hand. His expression's shifted from 'grim death' to merely alive and wary, at least, by the time he's reached her. "Sorry your date might be interrupted," he says to Naru. If, of course, this is a date. "There's something about malls." He glances down into the shopping bag and grimaces. "At least my mother won't be able to complain if someone runs off with this in the chaos."

He starts to turn to look back toward the tower base and its mass of People, and pauses. Not only because of Adrien's casually-carefully-orchestrated poses, though he is certainly catching those out of the corner of his eye. But because there is something in Naru's scarf. ... well, okay, she's not treating it like a youma. So where...

Takashi Agera has posed:
That burst of negative energy intensifies, then slows, then erupts again and is now at moe of a steady state.

There's a little bit of screaming from the shopping center, but not much. Exhaustion sets in quickly, and the mall empties - people will not remember whaat caused them all to bolt away like they did, in most cases. Well, except for the people who stumble towards walls and slump down, exhausted. They're not going to remember much of anything at all.

From within the computer shop where Riventon focused his energy, a pink woman emerges. She has a pair of computer mice for shoulder pads and an old-school monitor that makes up the center of her torso, bright blue-green hair, pink skin, yellow eyes, and un amused expression on her face. She rushes towards one of the civilians who didn't get clear enough of the herd and grabs him in her hands, her touch starting to sap the moore civilian bone-dry of energy rapidly.

Riventon ignores those rushing out of the mall to steadily walk inside and towards his youma. He's expecting someone to show up - someone always does - but maybe he can come out of this ahead, and maybe even take their energy, too.

Adrien Agreste has posed:
It's the screams that finally draw the attention of the model currently posing. Adrien glances over sharply toward the mall with a look of surprise clear on his face. One last flash of the camera catches this look before the photographer realizes something is wrong as well.

Gorilla though? The behemoth of a bodyguard knows something is up. Deeming it 'time to go' he strides forward to grasp Adrien by the shoulder quickly steering him away from the mall toward safer areas.

"Wait, but--!" Adrien tries to protest with a glance shot over toward Naru who was now standing next to the familiar white haired Kazuo.

Plagg has gone silent as another joins, but he's still there. Still there, and leaning in closer to Naru's ear to whisper, "I don't think Adrien can do this one, Naru. He trusted you with the ring soooo.... You wanna? I'm your Kwami right now so long as you have the ring! C'mon, it'll be fun! All you gotta do is say 'Plagg, Claws Out!'" The high-pitched voice of the Kwami teases, "I know you wannaaaa. Besides you train with a staff and that's the usual weapon so it'd be a purrfect match!"

Yes, Plagg puns too.

Naru Osaka has posed:
There's always screams. Naru sighs a little, it's just so much a part of her life. Even now, there's people being drained. It's not even her (yet). She looks over to where the screams are coming from, about to head over that direction.. "I think things are getting more interesting, Kazuo." She notes to her tall white haired companion.

And then Plagg whispers to her and her eyes go wide. "Wait.. I can't do that.. it's his!" She glances over to see Adrien getting bundled off by the Gorilla and then back to Kazuo and there's a bit of a reclibration in her head.

"He can see you, for the record." Naru comments to Plagg quietly. She's put the ring on at least, the safer way to keep it in her mittens.

There's a bit of a sigh, and an acceptance of her current fate. "Alright Plagg.. I am going to need your help here. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, the last time I tossed around powers, I was playing for the other team." With that caveat in place. "Plagg, Claws Out!"

Black leather cat suits better be warm, because they certainly don't /look/ warm. Nekonaru, has traded fox ears on her hat, for little black kitty ears and a little bit of recalibration. "There is totally not going to be a whole lot of puns." She warns.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
Kazuo sighs deeply at Naru's warning, and steps closer to the nearest building, to set the shopping bag down against the wall. Maybe it will still be there later. Maybe it'll even be intact.

The burst of yellow light that flickers over Naru in her transformation (okay, her new outfit, at the very least) catches in Kazuo's crystal earring, and glints brighter; by the time the dazzle settles, he's dressed in a gray uniform with a white cape, setting off Naru's black nicely. He does not, however, have kitty ears. Just for the record.

"I have no idea what you can do like this, either," he says to Nekonaru. "I've got a little fire left, though. Maybe we can melt some plastic."

Takashi Agera has posed:
To say that Riventon's device doesn't recognize the energy of Nekonaru or Kunzite is an understatement; he just knows other energy signatures are somewhere nearby, and he knows it's not Dark Energy. Riventon has to remain close by to collect the energy that the youma drains, but it doen't mean he can't hang out somewhere relatively close by and observe. Somewhere like the rooftop edge of the mall, as another delayed civilian comes stumble-running out of the front door.

Right as the glass window -beside- the door shatters as a half-90s-computer half-80s-pink-elf crashes through it, because the rotating door is a little too slow versus just Kool-Aid Womaning through it. "Error! Escape not found!" calls the youma as she pulls her hand back, detaching one of the mice from her shoulder and throwing it out, a cord trailing behind it as it wraps around the poor gentleman's ankles, bringing him thudding to the ground, and the youma reeling him back towards her while cackling. A look up at her and he faints - that or maybe the energy drain. Or both.

"Keep going, we need a lot of energy for our Great Leader." Riventon notes, playing the part, collecting the energy as she draws it into a bright blue orb, swirling in his hand.

Adrien Agreste has posed:
Plagg pffffts with a roll of his eyes. "Yeah but he's way over THERE and there's no way the Gorilla is going to let you near until he's sure things are safe. Besiiiiides it's not like you're gonna keep me." The little Kwami flits to the side to peer at Kazuo giving a wave. "Hi! You want Naru to kick some butt too, right? See we're in agreement. And don't wooorrry, it'll be like second nature!" he cheers on right up until the magic words are said.

Because as soon as they are Plagg swirls around and is sucked into the signet ring turning it from the silver it was to black, with a little green paw print inside.

A look over to Adrien would get a little gesture from him, a wiggle of his fingers as if to say 'ring'. HE'S okay with it... and he IS out of range right now at least so it's not as if he can do much!

When Naru does change though? Adrien's face contorts into an odd expression that was... well. Was he admiring her from over there? A bit? And grinning goofily? HECK YES. That's better than stealing his hoodie.

Naru Osaka has posed:
"Well .. dammit Plagg. You're supposed to be able to provide advice." Nekonaru clearly forgot that minor detail, as is clear when she flattens her ears a little. The kitty ears? Somehow. We won't think about that too hard.

Nekonaru glances over to where Adrien is being bustled off and there's a gesture from him and she takes a deep breath. She's got this. She thinks.

There's a flourish, and a spin.. somehow this outfit has a little skirt included, because of course it does, but as Nekonaru ends up facing forward again, she's emerged out with the staff that Chat Noir uses. "Ahhh.. if nothing else, I can beat the snot out of things."

By that grin, she's all in favour of that plan.

"And I think we've even found someone to hit.. and here I figured we'd have a little more of a lull in wide spread energy draining. No such luck. Shall we?" Without waiting for an answer, Nekonaru heads towards the screams, and that 8-bit youma starts rampaging.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
Definitely better than hoodie-stealing. At least Kazuo is no longer the only one who wound up borrowing his date's transformation somehow; at least Naru managed to do it on purpose.

And there's the promised staff. Kunzite can't help but crack a smile himself, something that's just a touch smug (though not nearly as much as Adrien gets) and just a touch bloodthirsty. Well, current-thirsty, at least. "Let's," he says. And then there's two of them heading for the youma, and Kunzite summons up some of the fire he stole from Zoisite and purified, flinging the little ball of stolen flame, not at the youma, not at her current victim, but at the cord connecting them. Apparently he's deciding to test whether she's upgraded to wireless.

Of course, that means that Riventon gets to see someone else in a Shitennou uniform flinging magic around. Someone with white hair.

Takashi Agera has posed:
There's a blast of fire from Kunzite that burns through the air, hitting the cord and burning along it for a bit, cutting it neatly in half. The man caught byy the bola-mouse takes the opprotunity to pull the rest of the cable off and scamper away, while the youma slowly pulls her cable back in only to look at the frayed, burnt end of it.

"You know, fire damage isn't covered by my manufacturer's warranty." she says, turning to look at Kazuo. From his rooftop perch, Riventon looks at him too. "Who the heck are you supposed to be? Normally I'd say you're trying to pull off some sort of General Order schtick but that uniform's too familiar." he says. "You a fanboy?" Riventon asks.

"I'll tell you what he is - he's gonna have to replace the energy he just cost me!" she says, as the frayed mouse cable suddenly has a new mouse 'fade in' to reality. She starts to spin it like it's a grappling hook or other rope-based tool, before throwing it out towards the handsome guy in a cape.

"Yeah, that's fair. I'll figure out what your deal is after I drag you home. Or maybe Beryl-sama will know." Riventon notes.

Naru Osaka has posed:
Hoodies generally are quite a bit less /work/.

"I hope you forgot to get the accidental damage coverage." Nekonaru quips towards the youma as she's distracted by Kunzite's fire and isn't paying any attention at all to the cat girl who has learned that apparently kitty powers include being able to jump.

Nekonaru gives a little bit of a run, to approach from the side jumping up and then bringing the back end of the staff up to sweep away the mouse cord before it gets to Kunzite.

"Evening Riventon!" Nekonaru greets the mastermind behind it all. Not that he's likely to recognize her, but clearly she recognizes /him/.

It's only a moment after that backhand to where Nekonaru flicks the staff around to lay a solid strike against the youma herself. That's a screen that needs more cracks in it.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
Kunzite ducks, flinging his cape up to try to intercept the -- mouse that is not likely to get anywhere near him. Thank you, Naru. "Yes," he calls up to Riventon as he straightens. "You should definitely ask her." Because Beryl in a bad mood is liable to share the wealth in the form of collateral damage to everyone in her vicinity. He lifts both hands, not striking out against the youma, but gauging the general energy drain in the area ... and watching to see whether Naru's going after the CRT exposes anything he can target.

She looks like she's starting to have fun, after all, and who is he to deny her that?

Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon raises an eyebrow at 'should ask her'. "Well, who are you supposed to be, anyways?" Riventon asks. Well, that much is fair.

He watches the other entrant kick the mouse away with her staff and shakes his head. "You just going to let her keep playing cat and mouse with you, Pasokon?" he asks, referring to his youma in the way one might shorthand Personal Computer. And it seems like even if Naru and Plagg aren't going to get puns, Riventon... still will.

Pasokon turns to Riventon, nods, and turns back to her opponents just in time to eat the strike from Nekonaru's staff and Riventon just audiably sighs.

The rod makes an odd sound when it impacts her screen - a sort of pinging glass sound - and the youma looks down at Naru. "I got an extended warranty." she says, before lashing out with what sure looks like the tab end of a PCI card coming out of her hand - only it's electrified and it's trying to input itself into Naru rather than a motherboard.

The energy drain in the area has mostly subsided now that the youma is fighting, but it -is- clear the energy went to Riventon - not the youma - and that he's still flowing with a lot of it. But he's also acting casual. "What's your game here, other than looking like a bad ripoff of someone way cooler than you?" he asks Kunzite. "And the other girl too. Who -are- you? Normally I'd just say I'm unlucky to meet new 'friends' but the other girl seems to know me and your uniform is obnoxiously familiar, plus you know who I said when I said 'Beryl.'

Adrien is lucky in that, even if Riventon noticed him, it's not like he can just take Hawk Moth's kid captive - even if he knew by now the kid wasn't 'in the know'.

Naru Osaka has posed:
"I mean.. isn't it /clear/?" Nekonaru flashes a grin at Riventon as she tumbles away from the electrified attack aimed at her. Complete with a perfectly agitated flick of her tail. She could get used to having a tail to flick.

A twil of tail and skirt and Nekonaru is bringing her staff around to direct that electricity over toawards Kunzite. He can /clearly/ use that energy much better than she can.

Clearly the front of that CRT is well shielded, but the staff comes around to 'encourage' the youma a little more, by swinging the staff around to smack her upside the head.

Adrien Agreste has posed:
Adrien Agreste was usually the one right in the thick of things. True he didn't have his Miraculous at the moment. That really hadn't stopped him in the past either! There were so many times he'd been unable to change, just plain old Adrien snooping around. Which is precisely why he wasn't afraid to snoop now.

Having managed, somehow, to sneak away from the Gorilla he's picking his way along the side of the mall to peer inside at the Youma currently facing Nekonaru and ... The really tall white haired guy in a uniform. Versus the other white haired guy at that. The blonde peers from around the door where it was *relatively* safe. One would hope.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
"We've been trying to reach you about that," Kunzite says deadpan to the youma, and lifts both hands to catch that electricity in a sphere of darkness growing between them. It's not the best source of energy, but if it's not inherently tainted he could make do ... except that it's almost certainly inherently tainted. In which case he'll just have to keep it out of the way and deal with it later.

"Let's say I'm a former contractor," he answers Riventon. "From before her first great screwup. What's she working on now, number four? Five?"

Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon tilted his head. "You know, to hear her tell it, she all but succeeded the last time, you just had a hidden ace in the hole near the end. You think this time you'll be lucky again?" Riventon asks Kunzite. He doesn't know the whole story, no, but if you sit in close enough proximity to Beryl's ranting for long enough, you kind of get the main points.

The electricity arcs towards Kunzite, and there's another satisfying PING noise as she successfully knocks maybe some sense into Pasokon. She does kind of a spin and holds her head. "You know, that hurts. If you keep hurting me I'm going to have to hurt you back." the very rational youma says. She pulls down a set of red goggles (that she clearly wasn't wearing before) and takes a massive jump back, standing on a car in the lot. "Acquiring targets..." she rumbles.

She starts to spin mice again - only this time it's one, five, ten, twenty twirling cables, and when she less them loose mid spin, as they arc towards the cat, they turn into... Literal, shrieking, beady eyed, sharp fanged mice, a hoard of them. Guess she's still playing cat and mouse, on some level.

And there's a moment where Riventon turns and he locks eyes on Adrien. And then pretends like he didn't see him, despite clearly doing so.

"I've been trying to reach you about your impending defeat, but you know. You always think you have the upper hand. Even when you don't." But Riventon isn't attacking, either. That would cost energy. He didn't come here to spend. "Former contractor, eh? Former like Hematite?"

Naru Osaka has posed:
Certainly the Beryl version of things, which may or may not have much contact with reality.

Nekonaru nods a little as the youma comments that it hurt. "I wasn't aspiring to tickle you with it." She points out, although snarky comments are going to have to wait a moment. Incoming!

Nekonaru ducks rather than jumps, coming down under the sudden onslaught of mice, and then lifting the staff to start batting them away. One end and then the other, turning mouse batting into a rhythm game of sorts. Mouse Sabre!

"I think you've lost your connection with your peripherals." Nekonau comments as the mice finally run out, and she approaches again.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
"All but succeeded in getting eaten by her own pet monster? I wouldn't think she'd want to tell that one." Kunzite lets his sphere vanish, and darts to one side of the shrieking flying mice. This is made both easier and more complicated by Nekonaru's interception; there are fewer mice to dodge, but they're flying in less predictable trajectories. He shields himself with his cape as he dodges, following the youma into the lot, and climbing lightfooted up onto another car to keep any scurrying miniyouma from trying to sink fangs into his boots. If they survived the batting game. He gestures toward the youma, and the cables connecting her parts, and calls to Naru, "Still having fun, or is it time to pull the plug?"

Former like Hematite? That question just gets to hang out for a moment.

Takashi Agera has posed:
Reality is in the eye of the beholder - or the eye of one who believes they can behold more than everyone else, maybe. Just because Riventon doesn't entirely buy Beryl's version of events doesn't mean he will say that directly.

Mouse Sabre goes for a bit, but the catty Naru is not shaken - perhaps, though, there is something about the reality of a cat fighting a series of mice that may have put this youma at a particular disadvantage, even if Naruneko doesn't have a lot of experience, well... being.

"Fine, fine! You want it all! You can have it all." she says, and now she's whirling mouse in both hands - well, when you have one move, you might as well spam it - twenty mice in each hand, a whirling storm of death, shrieking doom and...

And then everything stops. The whole YOUMA stops, kneeling down a bit. The extra mice vanish. Eventually she's moving again, as the catfighter is moving closer. "No, no! Don't do this to me now, come on, my power supply can handle that, right? Right? There's nothing wrong with a little overclocking..." Nothing wrong except, well, pushing too far from the limits. The smell of burning electrical capacitor is clear in the air.

Riventon pays attention to what Kunzite says, and also what he doesn't say. "Whether you're legitimate or not... you're just another hanger-on for Hematite, in that outfit. You say so little because there's so little of you to talk about - like the others, like that spirit girl, you can only define yourself in relation to him, can't you. That's why you're wearing that ridiculous outfit, mmm?" Riventon asks. He's still not channeling any energy though. The youma's already been created. A great deal of energy will return when it's destroyed, however, the effort won't have been in vain if he doesn't get drawn in.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
Have it all? Yes, she can. Kunzite summons up the last of Zoisite's fire in him, a sphere of light and heat between his hands rather than darkness, ready to intercept screaming mice --

And then they stop.

He doesn't. He brings his hands together, forcing the radius down, concentrating the flames into a tiny white-hot core, and then flings it outward with a casual gesture. The attack isn't nearly as powerful as he'd like - Moon's tiara would do better, let alone her real attacks - but it's aimed precisely at a cable at the back of the youma's neck. When one part overheats, another soon follows, after all.

If she opts to try to dodge it, the movement will send her straight into Nekonaru's staff, or claws. If she doesn't... well. That connection has to be to something. Whether it's severed or just spreads the heat around, it'll be less than fun for her.

And then Kunzite looks up toward Riventon again, and -- laughs. "He needs someone to get him to take care of himself," he replies. "You're a little busy for that to all be on your shoulders."

Naru Osaka has posed:
This is the moment when Nekonaru could rather use Plagg to remind her that she really CAN do more things than beat the snot out of youma with a staff.

Although she IS rather enjoying that part.

But now there's an overheated and malfunctioning youma that is coming right at her, and mercifully Nekonaru doesn't need Plagg's reminder. She keeps her staff in her off hand, and the hand with the Miraculous ring on it starts to glow darkly.

"I think its time for you to blue screen.." Nekonaru informs the youma as she slashes at the creature coming her direction. "CATACLYSM!"

Takashi Agera has posed:
Well, the youma tries to dodge. It'd be unfair to call it a 'valiant attempt' as it's not really vailiant, and it's almost not an attempt. It swerves slightly and instead of getting a severed cable, it gets a face full of condensed fire - which is really still Not Great. By the time the conflageration is over, the youma's goggles are somewhat...melted... or in the process of melting - to her face. She lets out a cough from her blackened face.

The gives her just about enough time to turn the other side - the 'good' side of her face - towards Nekonaru, which is about when the pun - and the finisher - are delivered.

The raw energy of destruction that washes over the youma destroys it in many ways - some parts rust, some parts simply fall apart, some parts crackle with unleashed electricity - and then there's an explosion for good measure, after which the remains of the thing that was turned into a youma are all that falls to the ground in a heap - a convoluted mix of a store display of 'technology through the ages' - some old and some new.

"The further he gets from me the more danger he's in." Riventon says, and that much seems very honest. Not like it's a threat, even if it sounds like one, but like it's a concern. "He doesn't know what the real risk is, and frankly, I don't think you do either. It is rather touching to know he had a uniform waiting for me, if mildly annoying to see it go to a cheap knockoff, though." Riventon says.

There's no youma, though - a lot of the energy, in sparkling rifts, is returning to its owners - sans what Riventon holds within himself now. "It's generally not wise to stand across the battlefield from a genius, though."

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
-- Naru did what?

Chat Noir, the gleefully silly, can do what?

Nekonaru gets an impressed look from Kunzite over the wreckage of the youma. He drops to the ground lightly, stepping away from the row of cars. Some energies he just is not going to try to clean up.

"I'm less concerned about being wise than about your being cored out from the inside by your current boss," Kunzite replies to Riventon. "Try to avoid that, would you? It's a bad habit of hers."

Naru Osaka has posed:
There's a moment, or two or three really, after things go kablooey and energy is returning to its owners and Riventon is still talking to Kunzite.

Wait.. Riventon is talking to Kunzite? Naru should have been paying more attention, but Nekonaru had been busy.

Nekonaru takes that moment to just appreciate.. damn. That .. /damn/. But she actually knows how this goes at this point, and there's a timeline. She gestures lightly, a finger pointing over to Kunzite. "I will talk to you later." She notes as she moves to take her leave.. mostly to go find where the devil Adrien has gotten to. She has a ring to return!

Adrien Agreste has posed:
Adrien Agreste had been spotted. By Riventon. Who he was wracking his brain about recalling, but perhaps he'd just determined that a random passerby was not worth his time. That was likely it. Still that meant he couldn't just wave Nekonaru down without cluing anyone in to the fact that *he might know her* so... He ducks away and waits just around the corner of a building, already shrugging is coat off in case he needs to toss it over her to help hide her transformation back and back to safety in general.

Takashi Agera has posed:
"Maybe she only does that to people she doesn't see eye to eye with." Riventon replies. "She's been nothing but agreeable to me. Kind, even. Maybe it's a you guys problem." he shrugs.

"Or maybe she senses the same thing in you I do." He leaves open just what that is, as he steps backwards and into the Dusk Zone and out of the area, without further explanation.
