Sunbreaker's Last Appeal
Date of Scene: 07 February 2024
Location: Plot Room 2
Synopsis: Sunbreaker catches up with Sayaka and Klarissa for a final discussion to help the latter. Klarissa is past the point of listening though.
Cast of Characters: Sayaka Miki, Hinoiri Kirara

Sayaka Miki has posed:
It's way past the curfew for students at the Radiant Heart Academy, an hour or two past midnight. Yet there are those who aren't following this curfew. Two students are out in the middle of the night, accompanied by a mermaid fairy. Why the late hours? Because they spent most of the day quarreling between themselves.

One of them was admittedly scared. Frightened by the transformation that her twin had undergone, motivating her to quarrel. They had tried to make her happier, and yet with everything they did, she had just slipped further and further within herself, away from what they could tell her. That student couldn't understand where she had gone wrong, and now she had to crash like a wave against the reef.

A cutting reef that wouldn't hesitate to mow down anything she perceived as cruelty, regardless of the source, regardless of her ideals of justice, one a sincere wish, now distorted and turned into a curse.

The two of them, their mood frayed stopped arguing well into the evening, by which point they were way late for their usual patrol. And so they snuck out, looking around until they stumbled across a familiar.

That familiar, a winged pillor with a mouth of razor teeth, is one Klarissa took immediately charge against, sword drawn in a blue flash reaching up to the youma.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker was... getting frustrated. Was it Sayaka's fault? NO! Not in the slightest. That was the issue.

Nobody was at fault here. Sayaka was, in many ways, heck. EVERY way, the victim here. She'd saved Hinoiri's life and now? Now she was in two halfs.

When she'd asked to start dating, she'd figured it'd go on for a week. Maybe two. She wasn't sure that Sayaka and her would mesh. But she wanted to learn about dating, about... people. She hated not knowing things. But then everything had just gone wrong.

She couldn't leave Sayaka like this. Split in half, broken in many ways. Sayaka and Klarissa. Worse, though? She didn't know HOW to fix it. She didn't know if she could. She wanted to just... beat up those negative vibes from the other girl. To fix her, then go away and leave her all better. But life didn't work that way. And now? She felt like the poor girl was coming more and more undone...

She'd been ignoring her. Giving her less attention. Being more distant. After her apartment blew up, she'd stayed with Sayaka and Klarissa. They'd helped her. And she couldn't help them. She felt... angry. At them. At herself. At reality. It wasn't fair or right and she hated it.

So how better to deal with those feelings than FIRE?!

BOOM!

So when Klarissa lunged towards a familiar... a spear of red flame streaked PAST her shoulder and vaporized the familiar, leaving nothing more than ash and a small crackling of electricity from where the familiar had been.

Sunbreaker, in possibly the *worst* display of 'not reading the room', stood on a nearby roof, her arms crossed and smirking. "If you were planning to be out and about tonight, Starfish, you should have told me. I'd have happily come and given you a hand~"

Yes, helping on patrols. THAT, at least, would relieve some of her guilt.

Sayaka Miki has posed:
When the spear got past, a little bit of Klarissa's neck got burnt, but with the attack not aimed at her, it wasn't enough for any signs to last past a second, her healing factor taking care of it.

The blue Puella manages bounces back against the wall, before looking up to see who intervened.

"Too bad I don't need a hand from you, Sunbreaker", she scowls. "And I know nobody here asked it either. We have enough to deal with between us without adding you to the mix." Of course, she was the one they had to deal with, and no Sunbreaker meant 1 less person to deal with her.

"Since it's you, I am giving you the chance to go away", Klarissa exclaims, her sword resting with the blunt part on her shoulder. "This is your only warning. I am not up to dealing with you. Sayaka is already more than a handful." The twin is keeping silent, her gaze turned away. She doesn't need a repeat of this.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker cringed when she almost hit Klarissa. But hey, almost hitting her was better than her getting hit, right?

"No, you probably don't," Sunbreaker said. "But I'm still here. And, unlike you, my power is limitless." Nope. Not true. That WASN'T how dark energy worked. It just meant she recovered hers easier. "And what do you mean 'adding me to the mix'? I'm not trying to fight. I'm trying to help you," Sunbreaker said firmly.

However, 'go away' made her pause and her mouth fall open.

"Warning? 'Dealing' with me? Give me a 'chance'? I'm not here to cause trouble!" For once. "I'm trying to help you. I have energy to burn. And isn't this exactly what you want? If I'm helping you, if I'm actually using my power to help keep people safe, isn't that more people who can be kept safe?"

Though, admittedly... the one person she was thinking of keeping safe? Was Sayaka. Even if she was two people now.

She held out her hand. "Come on, Starfish. Let me help you. Isn't it the least I owe you at this point?"

Sayaka Miki has posed:
She gets it, she gets it! Is what she wants to shout when Sunbreaker flaunts her power. Madoka has better potential than her, Sunbreaker has better potential than her, and what? She technically isn't even needed. Sayaka could be doing all she does. She is just useless. No wonder Kyousuke had left the hospital without telling her anything.

He already knew way back then. That she is just stupid, way in over her head, and there really only one thing she can do. And that she does not intend to stop. Not now. Not anytime. As long as darkness exists, she will continue fighting again, again and again.

"Oh, is it now your heart grew three sizes, Hinoiri?" she snaps. Who cares if she used her real name? Nobody was around to hear them. "Well, you are in luck. This blasted world is full of people that need saving. Why not start from those you put into danger, for a change?"

Klarissa shakes her head. "But not like it matters. Because the more you try to help them, the more evil people pop up where you least expect them. So, leave me the hell alone and go help them. I can deal with myself. It was just a stupid familiar. Do you think I need your help with the most basic youma you could encounter? Am I that stupid? Really so worthless to you?" Her expression is clearly full of anger at everyone, and most of all herself. This is not enough. She is not a paladin of justice yet.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
And any pride Sunbreaker had wavered then at those cold words. Heart grew three sizes? "What? No, I don't... I... I don't really put them in danger. I mean, aside from... that... when it's an accident. But I don't really..." She trailed off at those cold words, pulling back.

And Klarisa was right. She really was. Sunbreaker was being greedy, even if she told herself it was for the right reasons. That she had to be. She was in the right. Always. There was always an excuse, wasn't there?

"That's not... I don't... no. It's not like... yes. There are bad people. But you don't just..." She reached out a hand towards her before pulling it back. "I care about you, though. You're... like... a friend to me... I just... I don't think you're weak or... need help... I just..."

"I don't know how to help you, Saya..." Then she trailed off. What was it she'd said to Adora?

"I don't know how to help you, Klarissa-chan. But... but even I can see you need help. Why... won't you let me help you? Please? You helped me when I needed you... I just... want to help you in return..."

Sayaka Miki has posed:
"How do you define not putting them into danger? Leaving them alive?" she places her sword vertically to the ground. "Oh Sunbreaker, we are so glad you didn't kill us yourself. Maybe I had an important meeting at work I needed to absolutely take part in, and now I am fired, but who cares, I am still alive, right?"

A single line is carved into the ground. "Or maybe my heart is weak and that extraction of energy just killed me a few minutes later, because I really needed it."

A second line is carved into the ground. "Or maybe there is nothing wrong with me, but the mighty Sunbreaker has decided I should be happy to feel ill for a bit, just because she wants to become Despot number 2 and her destiny is more important than the people."

A third line is carved into the ground. "Just go. You experimented enough with me. Your friend." She sneers at that. "You can't even say I am your girlfriend. Isn't that what we agreed on? To be each other's girlfriend? But nevermind that. Surely you don't want to be with someone who only has harsh words for you, right? Have a change of heart and save people your own way. I will save them with mine."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker opened her mouth to object. To argue. "I..." She struggled to come up with a response, her arms wrapping around herself. "It's not... I put that energy to... it's just a..."

But those were things she never wanted to consider. What if someone did die because of her? Got hurt? What if she ended up causing worse things by her little draining? She tried not to think about it. But...

But she... "Klarissa... Starfish... I..." she tried softly. "You're... you are my girlfriend but... I don't... know how to..." She looked between Klarissa and Sayaka. Finally, she looked to Sayaka.

"I'm... sorry. I don't know how to help her. I don't know how to... I'm not capable of being the kind of girlfriend you both need. I just..." She looked back to Klarissa.

Then, finally, she spoke up. "I'll... keep trying. I'll... I'm sorry." And then she did what she did best in these situations.

She fled. Disappearing in a flash of fire, leaving nothing but singed cement in her wake.
