Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno it wasn't often that Ami didn't spend time in the dorm room. Een during holidays, she was typically here as her mother was busy at the hospital taking care of various shifts. She *could* go home, but what was the point? Other than stopping by for a visit it was usually empty. Yet lately she had spent more time outside. Partially in the library, partially out socializing, partially visiting friends. It was... different. An attempt to be more social.

Today she's back in the room seated on her bed with the little rolling clothes hanger cart she uses instead of taking up too much space in the closet out to regard the items on it. There were a few new ones she had to make space for which meant swapping out the ones she wasn't using much.

The school uniform had to stay. Absolutely. A winter coat, and a few sweaters. Some skirts. There's a new addition of a beret that is perched atop the pole at one end of the rack, and a very large garment bag with what might presumably be a dress with a very large skirt.

The rest is lain out on her bed being looked over thoughtfully trying to make a decision the best way she knows how: By using her laptop to make a spreadsheet and determine which has seen the most use versus the least and which would be most useful during the coming season!

Hannah Steiner has posed:
Ami's increasing socialization with people and not just being a shut in? Well, Hannah has openly encouraged it! Nothing good comes from not cultivating relationships, in her mind. Besides, it's not like increasingly Hannah has been out herself. Now she's always been one to be out at odd hours, but it's gotten worse over the past few months.

Her excuses are often vague, though it's yet to cause any concern for her grades, the young woman well knowing that Ami wouldn't be the type to let something like /that/ go.

This week has seen her being more present, ironically, and despite the bouts of frustration in Hannah the past few months, it's almost like she's gotten some kind of project in her head. She's spent quite a bit of time when she wasn't out or studying with her feet up on that strange desk she got from somewhere pouring over seemingly local markets and drafting up ideas, only to chuck them in the trash with contemptable words in Belkan.

Ami might even be picking up on the language, but given he frequent failures in whatever she's turned herself to, she might just regret it.

Another grumble, another string of Space German invectives, and she disconnects the earplug in her ear, and then rolls her chair over to bother her room mate.

"...You know, mein freund, I would think that unless you are planning to sell the excess, making an itemized list seems a bit excessive."

Hannah's tossing a boulder in a house made of tissue paper.

"...That said, if you ARE looking for the best pawnshop, I am finding their operations und stigma here /fascinating/!" Grin! With her...limited income, she's become well acquainted with them, even if it /hurt/ at first!

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno was listening. It may not seem as if she was, but every time that Hannah used a space-German word she would flip to another tab to update an entirely different spreadsheet. Then flip back. It was information gathering in a way to work with her theory about alien languages.

Ami glances up toward Hannah when she takes a break to question about the clothing, giving it a second glance. "Oh, I could just do that. I'm just trying to be reasonable about what space I take up while I'm here. A capsule wardrobe is supposed to be the most efficient way to handle multiple looks for various occasions without having to worry about whether or not you have something that will work." Even though this explanation is given she glances to the large garment bag with a frown. "But I got something very specific for *one* occasion only so now I need to trim down accordingly." A soft sigh is exhaled as she finally clicks her laptop shut. "You're right though. I may be over thinking it."

A long pause comes as she seems to think and consider exactly how she's feeling. "I think I'm bored?" Honestly she's not certain. "Usually I'm working on school work but I'm caught up through the rest of the year, other than pop quizes or the like. My friends have been urging me to take time off for myself. I'm just so used to working on projects I suppose." Talk about a workaholic.

She glances back toward Hannah offering a smile. "I'm sorry if I've been bothering you. Did you need help with anything? You seem to be struggling with something."

Hannah Steiner has posed:
Hmmm! Hannah considers the situation!

"While your determination is wunderbar, there is something to be said about keeping reminders of the past. Mmm. Trim, certainly, but if that outfit holds a particularly precious memory? Might I suggest being a bit wasteful on space? In the future you might appreciate the reminder, should less joyful days rear their heads." Offers the young woman. Done with a smile and her usual warmth, but there's a little hint of bitterness that always creeps into her tone whenever a topic of conversation edges towards the past, which she always seems to avoid talking about.

The fact, though, that /she/ is even vaguely touching on it in the abstract is a sign of her comfort in Ami's presence.

And then Ami gets to the heart of the matter. Hannah's earlier bitterness breaks as she laughs in amusement!

"By the Sankt! Old habits die by their own blades! ...Though I cannot blame you. For all this talk of the 'genius' frau Mizuno, your work ethic und uncommon wisdom trounce that which is packed into that schon noggin of yours! Throw a few rocks in any given country, und you shall hit a few geniuses. You, though? Acht, they're right, you need a karking hobby or that head of yours is going to spin right down to..." There's that blunt Hannah, grinning forcefully!

"As you say, being bored out of it! Let your freunds drag you into new experiences, Ami. Maybe even risk getting in trouble for once, or doing something reckless und exciting! You already seem brighter from my point of you, feeling you /beam/ would be a pleasure." Encourages Hannah firmly.

Back to her though! She considers, and well, she's not going to play Ami as a fool. She just praised her after all. "...I'm sure the lack of funds und mein disasterous attempts at 'summer jobs' have been apparent. Und so, I am falling back on what I know. Business! But before I am able to woo the locals with mein wit, looks, und a solid business plan..." Nevermind not abrogating treaties with governments lightyears away from here.

"Well I needs both a rock solid business plan, und more importantly, an understanding of local markets. Or, bluntly, a market to break into. This country is nothing like home. Und there I come up empty." She admits, scowling.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
"A business?" That causes Ami to pause considering. She knew that Hannah was having some financial difficulties, but it was also one of those situations that was hard to bring up or to know how to help. Her lips purse together in a thin line as she considers it.

"I admit I'm not very good at business, but ... You could offer to tutor in German, perhaps?" The suggestion is a bit hesitant only to remark, "Or any other subject you're particularily good in. Some of the cram schools hire students with good grades part-time to tutor younger students outside of their main studies. Or there's privat tutoring." Of course knowlege is where she'd think to aim such businesses.

Her head ducks, hand raised to rub lightly at her chin in a manner that indicated she really was trying to think of the best way to come up with a solution to this problem. "If it's mostly books that are your concern though, I could easily help with that. Or... Well, I suppose other things, too." Dropping her hand awya she glances up at Hannah looking honestly apologetic.

"I'm so sorry. There's been a good deal happening lately in my life. I haven't really been paying proper attention to things. Do you need help with anything? I'd be happy to do so. My mother certainly wouldn't mind if I were helping to ensure you were getting a proper education. It can be difficult for foreigners getting jobs here, I admit."

Hannah Steiner has posed:
Hannah's brows raise a bit. In retrospect, it's an obvious suggestion, at least when it comes out of the lips of one Ami Mizuno! And command of language is certainly something she's expected to excell at given her would-be position. Though, as she turns it over in her head, the peculiar accent as well as the discrepencies from 'standard' German in that well catalogued spreadsheet of Ami's might hint to Hannah's origin might pose an issue. But, as Ami puts it, she knows books.

And so, once again, the Countess-Palatine doesn't bother being subtle about what she's fairly certain Ami's already picked up on. "Acht, given mein home's dialect, I shall need to brush up on more 'standard' German lessons! But even if that won't make me rich, at least I am not going to be let go from a konbini again for 'exceeding sale of stock' and 'occupancy limit violations'!" Siiiigh! She's still mad about that one. She kind of liked working there, it was relaxing.

"Und thus, indeed, I am happy to take up your offer of haunting the library stacks with you!" She seems honestly excited, if nothing else, it lets her connect with Ami in her natural environment. That's worth more to her than any amount of coin, here or back home.

"Trust me, very much the same. No insult, mein freund. Several...personal matters have been detaining mein attention lately, und frankly the best thing you could do is introduce me to these mysterious freunds of yours! How better to see what they've been hauling you into, hm?" Comes Hannah eagerly.

And then offers out her fist, for a Fistbump of Promise!

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno actually does smile at this, warmly and broadly, in a way that makes her look more like the teen she is instead of the ever studious genius of her class. No one said she couldn't be both! "Yes, but I'm sure you can pick it up easily regardless," she assures her roommate in case there were any question or doubt of her own skills.

The offered fist is stared at only a moment before it clicks in Ami's mind as to what the gesture was supposed to be. It wasn't often she got a fist bump! Her own hand raises to dap her fist against Hannah's in turn as she assures, "Of course! I'd be happy to introduce you to them. You may already know a few, most are far more outgoing than I am," she admits readily. Knowing where her weaknesses lay wasn't something she avoided. "I'll introduce you soon!"
