Cast of Characters: Chrono Harlaown, Rashmi Terios, Ahmya Karashima

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown had agreed to offer the one eyed girl some TSAB training. Was it necessary? Frankly, no. He honestly thought she'd do better under Kyouka's training regiment. After all, she was one of this world's magical girls. It only made sense she'd be a better trainer in that field. But the girl requested it, he'd not deny her the opportunity. And who knew? Perhaps TSAB training would help her. She had little to no experience in magical fighting, apparently.

So he'd sent the information to both his assistant and to Ahmya. To meet him outside the city, on a very specific hill. He was sitting on a rock on said hill, arms crossed, seemingly in meditation. Phoenix was nearby, in her bird form, resting with her head under a wing. It was early. Who did this at just after dawn?

Chrono did. That was who.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
It was just *too early.*

While Rashmi liked the idea of training with Chrono -- always with Chrono -- and another of Tokyo's magical girls... There ought to be a hard floor on when the training can happen.

But, this is the time Chrono specified, and she would be a poor assistant-partner-girlfriend if she pushed back on a good idea, because the time was a little inconvenient.

Thus, she groggily soars down to earth, with a trio of hot drinks in a carrier in one hand. For Chrono, strong tea. For herself, a mocha, and for Ahmya, hot chocolate, because she doesn't know the spider-girl's preferences but almost nobody actively dislikes chocolate.

"Hiiiii, Chrono dear," she says as her foot touches down, still rubbing the sleepies from one eye. "Did you get *any* sleep?"

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
Having training from multiple sources had seemed like a good idea for Ahmya, after all, different styles meant that she could learn more ways that people fought and could possibly incorporate them into her own. The fact that it was outside of the city, however, had taken Ahmya by surprise. She had been expecting some warehouse or a park or something, but she supposed it made sense after she'd thought about it. No need to scare people.

After she found a convenient place to transform that wouldn't surprise anyone, she had opted to transform before her arrival at the location, since it would help save time once outside of the city. So the one-eyed girl could be heard walking closer likely before she was seen, as the soft click of wooden geta can be heard as she approached, the golden veil of her oversized hat obscuring most of her body and arms in front of her in a somewhat lazy manner, both hands tucked into the arms of her kimono to keep them warm.

Also there was a giant odachi hanging from her shoulders by golden threads. "Good morning." Goldenweb Yorotsuchi says mildly once close enough. "...I'll have to learn to fly, I think. Once out of the city, it's much harder to use my threads to expedite travel."

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown glanced over to Rashmi and... "Of course. I finished morning PT a bit ago," he said before getting to his feet and cheerfully taking the tea, then standing on his tippy toes to give her a kiss on the cheek. "She seemed so eager, I figured some early morning training would be a great way to help her burn off some energy."

He then glanced towards Yorotsuchi and cocked an eye. "I'm not sure learning to fly is doable for most unless their magic permits such. On this world, particularly, different magics seem to wield different capabilities."

As if to demonstrate, he then flew up into the air. Left hand holding his rod, right hand holding his coffee.

"Now then. What are your capabilities and, as you lack a TSAB device, I'll try and formulate a quick training process that will give you adequate experience in said field."

Rashmi Terios has posed:
Beaming at the kiss on the cheek, Rashmi settles her glasses back into place, and offers Ahmya her cocoa. "Well, I've heard of baby spiders flying," she hazards. "If your magic comes from like a spider goddess, maybe there's something you *could* learn! Meantime... As an example, my magic tends mostly toward defense and support; shields, power boosts, that kind of thing. I've got a few attack spells, you'll probably see some of them today. Also... And this is kind of important; Chrono and I, our magic isn't deadly until it *has* to be. So like... No matter what either of us throw at you, it's not going to hurt for more than a little bit, and it's *not* going to do major damage."

Her thoughts wander back to her first training session with Chrono, and the sheer terror of dodging massed swarms of swords made of magic laser. "...But oh boy it'll probably be scary."

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
"Mmm. I already had a thought on how I might be able to manage it, at least purely for long distance travel. I don't think it would be effective for shorter distances, though. Like how baby spiders fly shortly after birth, some form of glider or something, possibly etched with an enchantment of some sort to assist in the flight. I will have to experiment later." Questions of her capabilities. Goldenweb Yorotsuchi closes her eyes as she muses on those.

"My experimentations and what I know of the yokai that made pact with me lead me to believe that, of course, the ability to use my golden threads and weave it in various different ways. And then it seems to be compatible with occult magicks, runes and magical circles. In addition, I have found some small success in interweaving my shrine maidenly trainings into my blade, however there is some resistance that is ... difficult to describe. I am guessing likely due to it being at odds with a pact with a yokai normally considered to be evil." Goldenweb Yorotsuchi says, "In addition to that, I seem able to etch runes for some effects into my blade, though I have not learned all the effects I can manage as yet, I seem able to imbue it with arcane energy to hone its blade and make it presumably more effective. I have, however, only had one combat encounter which was with effectively a giant runaway dog where we were simply attempting to restrain it."

As she's talking, she is doing simple examples of each thing, creating small magical circles of golden threads of webbing, setting up a small net between a couple of convenient trees, and briefly imbuing her odachi with energy through those etchings. Most of the magical runes were highly simplified when created, though that may be due to Goldenweb Yorotsuchi's admitted inexperience. Yorotsuchi reaches to take the offered cocoa, taking a small sip of it.

"My magick comes from the Jyrougumo; the man-eating spider. Aunty Rache didn't seem all that bad when I interacted with her, though. We talked for a long time before she offered me the pact, I had saved one of her children though, so that may be why she was kind to me." She adds. The talk of how Chrono and Rashmi's magic is non-lethal until it has to gives Yorotsuchi pause though. "Hm." She taps her lip with one finger. "I don't believe that my magicks are nonlethal, considering the source of my power."

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown gave a small nod. "I see. So then, I won't be able to help you develop such magic because... frankly... I wouldn't even know where to begin. I'm not from this world and your religions are different from my own. I know only a cursory glance over shrine maidens and the like."

"However, I can aid you in combat application. I imagine a sparring match or two will be enough." He took another sip of his tea. "Rashmi will aid you as a support for the first test. Not attacking directly, instead focusing on amplifying your abilities and offering verbal advice and guidance. The task is simple. Strike me with your magic three times, I'll attempt the same. But before that... I know many spiders are venomous. Are you abilities?"

One final sip and... once he knew... "Come at you whenever you feel ready."

He looked pretty casual, at least. Rod relaxed at his side, drinking from his tea. But Rashmi knew... three binds had already been placed. One directly ahead of Yoro, one forward to the left and then one behind him. A test to see if she would trigger the traps, manage to avoid them or... something else.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
'Come at me whenever you're ready.'

Siiiiigh. He was gonna be sneaky about this.

Hurriedly gulping her mocha, she pops the empty into Nicomachea's storage space, then flits into the air to come to rest above and behind Goldenweb, Nicomachea already open and fluttering through pages.

    << *BONG!* >> << TELEPATHY >>

<< Okay, >> says Rashmi's voice in the back of the one-eyed mahou's mind << So just think back to me whatever you want to say, and be careful; he's already placed traps designed to hold you in place, around you. Which, I probably don't need to warn, would be a baaaaad idea. There's an opening to your right though, I'd take that. >>

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
'Many spiders are venomous'. "Hm. I haven't experimented with that. I frankly didn't think to. But it's... possible?" She opens her mouth, running a finger along her canines. "...I don't like the thought of biting someone, so maybe I can imbue it with a rune or something instead... hm." The talk of being unable to develop her skills was moderately disappointing, but even then the experience and knowledge of someone more combat-capable would be helpful.

Unlike Chrono, she opts to slowly sip down the rest of her cocoa, attaching a thread to it which she then attaches to a branch of a tree where it would be reasonably safe from being broken. Rashmi's telepathic talking takes Ahmya off guard for a second, her mouth opening in momentary surprise. But after a moment she gives a small nod. <<I see. >> Instead of moving, though, she opts to stay in place for the moment, shifting down into a slightly lower stance.

After taking a deep breath, she looks towards Chrono, reaching a hand back to rest on her odachi. Several golden runes flashing to life along the length of the blade. The blade is then swung around to the side, flinging out ... a wide net of webbing towards Chrono. A strong net of golden webbing, but otherwise with relatively minimal magical effects to it.

An action, that, perhaps... betrays one of the first things that a lot of mages probably struggle with: << ...It's hard to effectively visualize sending a potentially lethal attack towards another person. >> Yorotsuchi thinks. There was a tinge of sadness to that mental voice at the mere thought.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown was going to be the sneekiest. But, in the end, this was training for Rashmi as well. It was up to her to guide Yoro into battle and help her achieve her goal. If they'd succeed... who knew? But in the end, it was to test the spider girl's capabilities and see what she could do, in order to better fight besides her in the future.

So he was lettering her make the first move...

Then she threw the net at him. Rashmi had likely spent enough time by now to track his binds when he wasn't hiding them as best he could. But this was part of the training, after all. Three binds appeared behind Yoro, one behind, one behind and to the left, one behind and to the right. The net was flung...

            <<Blaze Cannon!>>

And then Rashmi would realize exactly WHY they went directly behind Yoro like that. A spiralling inferno erupted from his rod, directed THROUGH the net and straight towards her. It was to see if she panicked. Could Rashmi navigate her through a destructive flurry of flaming destruction? Or would she be struck the first time before the mights of this whirling char-bringer?!

Rashmi Terios has posed:
    << *BONG!* >> << SOLAR SHIELD -- GLACE SHIFT >>

Not omnidirectional, this shield. But where before there would be a quarter-dome angled in the direction of the attack, now there's the screeching *crack-snap* as golden light coalesces into a semi-conical wall of ice, tinted by the magic to look more crystalline than ice-like, in the path of the inferno. Right afterthe spell is cast, she dips down to partake of the protection afforded by the ice shield... and to trigger the rear-most Bind herself.

<< Back up behind me! >> she calls to Ahmya. << There's more traps to either side. And don't worry about hurting Chrono yet, he's like an *actual* space special agent! Just do your absolute best, he'll call a stop if he gets hurt! >>

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
Well. That's a problem. Fire and webbing isn't an amazing combo. Though it did possibly last longer than Chrono might have expected as it continued its path towards him, the last, thicker web likely even reaching his location; though falling wide as the thinner connecting threads had burnt away quickly. "Hachi." Yorotsuchi states simply. In a nearby tree, an eye-spider peeks out. She doesn't say anything else towards the eye-spider, it already knew what she wanted: Trying to help her descipher how the magick of the stated binds 'felt'.

She didn't have time to say anything else, really. Not with fire coming towards her. Okay, so there had been a path to the right before, and bindings behind. Chrono had been trying to drive her towards him before, most likely. Crack. An icy shield.

Right. She had a partner in this. As the backmost bind was triggered, Yorotsuchi unleashed a net of sticky webbing towards the fiery bolt to attempt to reduce some of its power as she dipped behind that offered shield. << ...Okay. ...I'll do my best then. ...There's still a path to the front and right, correct? >> After the safe path was confirmed and the oncoming blaze attack was cleared, Yorotsuchi would opt to dart forward towards Chrono, intent on closing distance with him at least partially... several golden runes being etched onto surfaces as she goes. Her inexperience is showing though, rather than taking the zig-zagging path that might help her avoid potential counterattacks, she's going for a fairly straight line straight and to the right, as if aiming to go past Chrono.

But in her wake those web-runes on the ground were flashing into life and then unleashing magical blasts -- no stronger than a standard barret style attack, but seemingly much less flexible. Though some of those runes don't flash into life like the others, either because the runes were made too hastily and failed -- or maybe intentionally left behind.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown cocked an eye when Rashmi triggered one of the binds herself, magical ribbons reaching up to entangle her. They likely wouldn't last long, though. It was to distract and hold her...

Unfortunately for Yoro, Chrono was a binding specialist. Trapping and holding others captive was kind of his thing. FORTUNATELY for her, however, Chrono was treating this like a training exercise. His duty here was to measure her capabilities, not be a jerk and try and bully the inexperienced girl.

However, when the last of the webbing was melted away in his flames, her downed the rest of his tea. Those webs were strong. A lot stronger than he would have expected. Fascinating. That assault of his was incredibly destructive, the fact the webbing survived showed that whatevere the girl's power was, it certainly had potential. 'Man-eating spider' had him slightly concerned... but if considering the number of magical people he knew who, for lack of a better term.... had a flair for the dramatic? It wouldn't surprise him to find out it was less dire than it sounded.

Fortunately, due to the nature of the training exercise, the binds WERE locatable. For those who were sensing them, there were small magical signatures interspaced throughout the field. Not too hard to keep track of.

Her methods of golden ruin placement was interesting, though. He finished off the last of his tea and then the mug disappeared, stored in his device. The rod then spun once in his hand and he focused on her...

As the barrets were suddenly shooting through the air at him. He counted. Watching them fly through the air....

            <<Stinger Move!>>

Right before they could strike him, he disappeared, becoming a light blue 'dart' that shot through the air...

Directly into Yorotsuchi's path. Suddenly he was there, right in front of her!

            <<Impact Cannon!>>

Out from his right hand, a small ball of concentrated magic formed and then almost instantly unleashed. It wasn't the most damaging attack... but it was designed to try and knock Yorotsuchi back and away. Towards one of those 'failed' runes. For two reasons. One, he wanted to see if those 'blasts' of hers could follow him. And two, he... well. She was a rookie, sure. But so were most people on this planet and he'd be damned if he wasn't impressed by them over and over, he doubted this girl would be any different. He found it more believable those 'runes' were a trap than actually messed up.

Then again, going into close range with a *spider samurai* probably wasn't the wisest move either. So. There you go.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
<< Good move, >> Rashmi says as Goldenweb surges forward, pulling against the Binds until they shatter. << Also how high can you jump? And can you stick your webs to just, like, places in the air? Because the latter'd be *great* for fast-movement tricksWATCH OUT. >>

As Chrono becomes a point of light to speed-move right up into Goldenweb's face, she looses another spell of her own.

    << *BONG!* >> << ACCEL -- BOOST UP >>

It's like a wispy little ball of golden foxfire, that forms above Nicomachea's pages, then arrows directly at Goldenweb's back. When it hits, there's no real feeling of impact... but a warmth in the mahou's feet, and a vague feeling of when she was a kid, running under the summer sun just because *moving fast was fun.*

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
The bits of webbing that had survived were thicker sections, about half as thick as a standard rope most likely rather than gossamer threads of a standard spider's web. Because, well, it was produced by a human-sized spider to catch a human-sized target, rather than insects. It is, however, still webbing. And very susceptible to fire. Mostly only the sticky sections surviving the fire longer, while the support silk sections burned up very quickly.

Hachi luckily was able to determine bind locations for Yorotsuchi! Transmitting the data to her, she adjusted her senses to work on picking them up even as she moved in that barret-firing angle. << I'm capable of jumping pretty high, enough to reach building tops. I have not experimented with anchoring the web--. >> That shifted focus, however, did result in a moment of surprise when Chrono *DISAPPEARED* and then reappeared in front of her. 'WATCH OUT' "What th--" Aaaand there was a bursting attack right in front of her. As she's launched back, what the 'failed' runes were become more obvious, as a secondary salvo of those bursts launch towards Chrono. Not a trap, but rather a delayed attack. The rune she'd been launched towards shooting out from underneath her, possibly a good surprise.

At about the same time, she is enhanced by that speed boosting spell, resulting in less of a 'recovery' phase when she lands, as an immediate use of the momentum of her landing to flip herself back onto her feet, and leap back towards Chrono alongside her attacking blasts! That odachi is lifted to swing towards Chrono, the edge of the blade glowing with golden light as she does... but the blade swing once more happens before actually striking him -- unleashing a much thinner and smaller binding web to attempt to entrap Chrono around his arms and waist to attempt to reduce his ability to dodge the incoming delayed blasts as once again she moves to move beyond him; placing him between herself and those oncoming blasts.

... Look she wasn't completely confident in her own aim and she didn't want to get shot by herself. <<That's... invigorating. Thank you, Rashmi.>>

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
The impact, well, impacted. He supposed that was one strike in his corner. But it--

And then *so much* happened all at once. This was one of those cases where his experience definitely came in handy. The blasts burst out from under her flying form and he had no choice but to hold out his right hand, forming a circular shield to catch them, the blasts exploding against its side.

A delayed assault, fascinating.

But it wasn't the end. Rashmi's ability to amplify other people, proved to be pivotal. While he was still shielding himself from the blasts, Yorotsuchi was already on her way. The two coming in unison. She swung and--

And it wasn't the blade, but the webbing, that he had to contend with. He had no choice but to abandon the shield, pulling back in an attempt to avoid the webs. The webbing comes so close, he can almost feel the wind displaced by the webbing as it narrowly misses tagging him.

But without the shield, the blasts are still raining down on him. Avoiding the single web had left him slightly vulnerable to the flurry and, unfortunately...

One of the barrets clipped him. Striking his right leg, he skidded back against the ground. "Very good. Delayed blasts, excellent recovery and fast utilization of Rashmi's boosts. Your offensive capabilities are quite varied and useful. But, I'd like to see how you fair, defensively. Rashmi, no shields. Continue to support her in other manners, however."

            <<Stinger Snipe!>>

Three small, green orbs of magic appeared over his rod... and then flew AT her. One from the front, one from the left, one from the right. Worse, if they missed, they'd then spin around in the air to come from a different angle. Dangerous, rapid little orbs of destructive magic.

Time to see how well the girl fared against an attack from different angles. Defense? Speed? Counter assault?

Rashmi Terios has posed:
"Roger!" Rashmi calls out, launching herself skyward again, considering her options. Three Barrets being summoned, and Goldenweb limited on movement options. She doesn't seem to have the ability to just anchor to the air, so...

<< Nicomachea. Can you give me... a dozen Round Shields, of staggered heights, within forty meters of Chrono's position? Rotate them to face vertically, please, and no need to make them more structurally stable than needed to stand on. >>

    << *BONG!* >> << ROUND SHIELD >>

And just as Rashmi asked, Several circular flat planes formed of hard light, etched into a complex magical seal, flashed into life around Chrono, above and below him.

<< His Stingers are high-endurance attacks, >> Rashmi tells Ahmya. << They can hit you more than once, so don't count the dodges! >>

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
One of her strikes hit! That moment that had almost felt like an eternity as she'd had to think so quickly and effectively, while also trying to compensate for the one-eyed thing. She was honestly worried she was over-extending her blade and might actually clip Chrono in that moment. But it had worked out. Phew.

And she got a compliment that her offensive capabilities are varied and useful! "...Defensively. Mmmm..." That moment that was given to her while Chrono was giving Rashmi orders and thinking back to Chrono's own defensive shield weren't wasted as she thinks on how to protect herself. Luckily she also knew when she had to react; each attack telegraphed by that staff.

The moment that staff started its initial ping, Yorotsuchi shifted, slamming her fist into the ground which sends a splatter of webbing out that arcs up and around her into a tightly knit sphere of webbing around her, several runes flaring to life on them, latin for 'Defense' 'Repel' 'Stop' repeated multiple times in the multi-layered sphere. There was no worry about those orbs missing as they impact against the hard shell of the sphere. Layer after layer cracking. Possibly a poor decision against a 'snipe' attack likely designed to pierce defenses though, as the blasts would eventually pierce through the sphere. Still, it gave her time to think, plan, and listen to Rashmi's advice. <<Understood. 'Snipe', is a piercing attack, I presume, as well, so normal shielding is probably ineffective too? ...A scary attack.>>

Crack.

Shatter. The moment that reinforced cocoon of webbing breaks, Goldenweb Yorotsuchi was vacating it, taking quick stock of the situation now that her vision was less obscured.

Ah, that must be the realization of Rashmi's conversation earlier. Movement through the air. Yorotsuchi throws her odachi into the air as she darts, doing her best to stay out of the way of any follow-up attacks while sending out a wide series of webbing towards those hard discs of light. To compensate for aiming difficulties with her one eye, opting to attempt to strike out towards most of them and attach webbing to them... many of the shots missing while others seem to be using those shields to place more of those golden runes. In particular, several of those barriers above Chronos etched with a rune for 'heavy' on them to attempt to use those barriers offensively by dropping them out of the sky, while other barriers are used to pull her into the air alongside leaps. A somewhat ... messy way to do it, definitely not as skillful as a certain super hero might do it in the movies, but with one eye, she had to compensate somehow, almost shooting nets towards her targets she wants to move towards instead of the single line which would likely be more energy and web efficient.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown cocked an eye towards Rashmi when she started making shields. Wasn't he explicit about...

... Oh. Oh he loved this girl. That was clever. That was DAMN clever.

However, then the barrier... Hm. A sphere of webbing.

Fortunately, the stinger snipes weren't actually designed to pierce shields. It was a destructive, repeatable use force. It tended to break things, but could be stopped with a sufficient barrier. Which, fortunately... the coccoon turned out to be. Powerful enough to finally shatter the coccoon... but without a follow up, as all three orbs had been shattered in the strike.

hm. she might not be a TSAB mage, but her variety of attacks were useful. Webbing and the runes...

Placing them on the barriers... moving around them... Then, from above, heavy webbing started to fall. "Rashmi, maintain current spells, but no new ones."

<< Unless she's going to hit the ground. >> That part was ONLY sent to Rashmi. Permission to 'save' her if she looked like she was going to get hurt.

As the webbing started to fall, he had one last test. He held his rod up...

            <<Stinger Blade!>>

A dozen or so blades appeared overhead. They spun once, slashing through the falling webbing... before launching.

The hail of blades weren't aimed at her. They were aimed at her *webbing* and shields. Slashing through the strands she was using to haul herself around, they also were shattering shields, suddenly destroying the vertical methodology of her movement to pieces! Could she recover in time?!

... Meanwhile... Chrono... yeah. He... he was misted by a bunch of magical webbing. He uhhh. He didn't like that. He wasn't going to say that. But he *really* didn't like suddenly getting covered in a layer of slashed up webbing.

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
Somewhere among that webbing, that odachi had been caught by the strings, hanging in the air from several of those barriers. Sadly that heavy webbing didn't seem to hit its mark. She'd need to figure out a way to make her attacks more subtle, probably... still. Other runes were starting to ignite and go off, even as that stinger blade was being launched -- another series of those delayed blasts. That webbing and the barriers being destroyed rapidly by the oncoming magical slashes. There was a moment of mild panic at that. Right. This was reliant on something destructable.

What to do? A web below to catch herself like a trampoline? Swing around from a tree? ... ... And then an idea began to form in Yorotsuchi's head as she spots her Odachi, which was starting to fall on the opposite side of herself from Chrono. "..." <<Rashmi, set a weak barrier behind Chrono please. Just in case.>> And then she shoots out another series of that webbing, this time towards Chrono himself, though two lines glowed with that golden energy for just a moment after being shot, shooting around Chrono and seeking out the rings of the odachi almost as if drawn to them.

And then she pulled, if successfully attached to Chrono, towards him with intent to do a simple mid-air kick to send him towards the odachi, attempting to send him into the blade which she was yanking towards the two of them as well. Her intent? To either knock Chrono into the blade, or simply yank the blade into him, the edge of said blade glowing brightly with golden energy. Luckily, the back edge is less sharp than the front edge, but ~just~ in case, she didn't want to risk seriously injuring Chrono, hence the request for the barrier.

"Thisisstupidthisisstupidthisisstupid!" She calls out under her breath the entire time.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
"Roger, roger!" Rashmi chirps merrily, keeping her eyes on Goldenweb... And then her face falls, as she makes a request of Rashmi. << Chrono said no new spells, >> she says with some disappointment. << But you're doing way better than you probably think you are! >>

Shields shatter left and right, and when Rashmi sees the threads headed toward both Chrono *and* the weapon, Rashmi watches with no small amount of concern. For *both* of them, really.

However... while Chrono said no new spells, he said nothing about telepathic text messages. << Chrono love you're gonna want to Shield up behind you, >> she tells Nicomachea to tell S2U to tell Chrono. << I would, but you said no new ones, and I like you with all your blood where it should be. >>

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown was, at least, probably the best person for her to test subtle tactics with. Primarily because he was a cheating bastard. While the spider girl was fighting with one eye, he... only had his own eyes.

And a device that allowed him to scan and mark targets, so he wouldn't be caught by surprise. It wasn't an intelligent device, sadly, so it only had standard scanning and couldn't give him information on its own.

Still. He was now covered in webs, there were more blasts coming off, one of which grazed his arm...

And then there was webbing coming at him. He didn't move, planting his feet...

And two strands went past him. A miss?

Attaching to her Odochi. Rashmi gave him an alert a moment later and oh, he didn't like where this could be going.

Despite her claims of 'this is stupid', he frankly thought it was a pretty wise tactic. And as she came towards him... He didn't move to dodge the strike. He didn't move to attack her back. He instead... lifted his rod...

And brought it down on the webbing that had gone past him.

            <<Subzero Boundary!>>

And then ice would be spreading across the web and even him. Spreading out from the web, it'd try to freeze the odochi to the ground, while also spreading out back over his body, enveloping him in a shield of ice, while attempting to flow up the web to freeze HER!

And now he was frozen AND covered in frozen web. He hoped this worked, because as web covered as he was... he.... he wasn't going to be going anywhere for a while. Dear heavens he hoped her magic let her disperse the webbing when it was done. Because otherwise he was going to be cleaning this off for weeks.

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
Well that was concerning. She presumed he JUST meant to help /her/, not period. Still, Chrono was more experienced and she'd been assured he should be fine with most situations! Also it's kind of too late so she's just going to have to trust him that he wouldn't get seriously hurt. Which it seems that she was wise to trust him on!

As she's brought towards him and that ice goes along that web that was trying to bring the odachi towards him... it cracked and the odachi falls relatively harmlessly back to the ground, where it was then frozen. And while Ahmya was still coming towards him to attempt to kick him, there was a lot of frozen webbing in the way, along with ice rapidly coating her. LUCKILY, frozen ice gave her some purchase again, which she kicks off from before the freezing ice can too heavily coat her. Now that the barriers and webbing were basically unhelpful, she opts for something much less aggressive. And simply... attaches a strand of web to the frozen webbing around Chrono to do one simple thing: ... Quickly lower herself to the ground to walk over and touch her odachi, channeling magic through it to break the ice off of it. And then she takes a deep breath.

"I GIVE UP!"

It's then it becomes more obvious that she'd... probably been breathing heavily for a while now, and after that shout she leaned against her odachi. "...I think I'm... basically out of mana. ...Everything's starting to feel sluggish."

Rashmi Terios has posed:
"SHE GIVES UP," Rashmi calls, with the sort of tone that says she *can definitely confirm* it's a matter of capacity, not motivation. Swooping down, she alights on the ground and puts a hand on Ahmya's shoulder, grinning. "That was a *lot* of really good work, Goldenweb," she says.

And she means it.

It's always amazing to watch people with more physically-oriented powers in action, and Goldenweb herself was very nearly like an American superhero... and not just because of the webbing.

"D'you need any help, Chrono?" She looks up... and spies a mass of ice in the air. "...Yeah. Yeah you do. Oooone sec."

    << *BONG!* >> << SOLAR BLADE >>

Apparently Rashmi has learned a similar spell, for a sword made of golden light materializes over her shoulder, and carefully... carefully flies to set itself against the ball of ice surrounding Chrono. "....Now you see this... *this* is a shield-breaker."

And the sword starts to *drill* against the ice, keeping steady pressure and working mostly to weaken the physical integrity of the material binding Chrono up. And a sword can't get gummed up be webbing.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Oh thank goodness. Err. Chrono meant... << Very good job. >>

Ah. Yes. He was protected behind his ice barrier. He was safe. He was secure.

He was going to spend a while trying to get all that off. The ice was fine. That was easy. And then Rashmi came, drilling through the ice, slow and steady. This was fine. He was fiiiiine. Unfortunately. He was no fine. Because even as bits and pieces of the ice were melted away... He was still covered in webbing. Wet, sticky, magic webing. He reached up and pulled off a handful of the stuff. Which was sticking to him rather... tightly.

"... So... will this dissolve when you end your henshin, or do I need to go jump in the river?" he asked. He tried to take a step and had to flail his arms to avoid tripping over it when his legs stuck. With a sigh, he just... flew... up a bit... Walking. Wasn't going to be an option until he got all this off. "All in all, a very skillful display. I think the defense lessons of Kyouka's would benefit you highly, as it will give you exposure to a wide array of different magical people. However, with training and repeated combat applications, you'll soon have a grounding that will make you an incredibly effective magical girl. You've already got pretty good instincts."

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
"That was... so much more quick thinking than I think I've ever had to do in my life. ...Almost as exhausting as the fight itself." Yorotsuchi says softly in response to Rashmi. "...But yeah... thank you." She pauses, looking up towards Chrono and the sunblade as Rashmi works on extricating Chrono. Okay. So looks like he has help with that part. While he's drilled out by Rashmi(To avoid prematurely removing material that might turn it from a freeing to an attack), she works on cleaning up the webbing around the area that was lingering, though the older bits were already starting to dissolve into golden motes of energy that were dissipating into the air. The stuff that Yorotsuchi gets to she does absorb into the ring on her finger, likely to recycle back into energy for herself and work on recovering some.

...If those binds are still there, she may or may not accidentally stumble into one.

"Uh. The older stuff dissolves on its own unless I put effort into making it last longer. But I can dismiss it." Now that Chrono was on the ground and no longer had an attack directed at him to free him, reaching her hand out to draw in that webbing much like before. It probably felt a bit weird and not necessarily the most pleasant sensation. But at least she wasn't doing like real spiders do when recycling their webbing. That would just. Be weird. "...I'm pretty lucky that I had shrine maiden training to be honest, it helped me keep my cool in the face of a literal fire tornado coming towards me, among other things." She says with a soft chuckle. "...I'll look into the training with Kyouka, for sure." She adds, carefully working on getting the rest of those golden threads off of Chrono. Or at least the stickier stuff, the non-sticky silk style stuff that was the stronger stuff mostly had just broken due to the ice, itself. "Alright, aaaand... ...there. That should at least be the worst of the sticky stuff and the rest'll probably disperse on its own over the next like... I dunno, five minutes?"

Rashmi Terios has posed:
"Seriously you did a *lot* better than I did starting out," Rashmi says, flitting to Chrono's side and dropping a spell-circle around him. While he didn't take much in the way of actual damage, the almost-illusory warmth that comes with her first-aid-level healing spell has to be appreciated, after the general weather, *and* the being entombed in ice.

After half a heartbeat, she drops one around Ahmya too, the magic working to banish some of the sluggishness that comes with severe mana drain. "Even if you don't often actually go on the attack, Goldenweb, I can't think of a fight I've been in where I wouldn't have *loved* to have you there."

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
"Combat situations can be incredibly dangerous and require constant, rapid reactions. A moment's hesitation can cost you, or others, lives. However... it does get easier. The first time you make a rapid situation in combat it'll always be intense. However, with enough time and practice, it'll become second nature. Though, admittedly, as a device user I have an advantage in that department. My device is able to feed me information and scans of the battlefield, without requiring me to look towards it. I think all of your training in the past will be... useful..." he said, before glancing towards Rashmi.

He'd need to ask her about Shrine Maiden training later. Did they often get attacked by fire tornados in shrines?

Fortunately, however, he gets confirmation that the webbings will, in fact... disolve. Oh thank goodness.

He stretched out a big, lifting his rod over his head. "Still... that was a pretty intense session. How about we go get breakfast. My treat?" he offered, before holding out his rod and dispelling the magic barrier around them.

Which had definitely been up this entire time. Yup.

Ahmya Karashima has posed:
"It's... a lot of instinct and trying to think of how to use my webbing well, and weaving in stuff I picked up from reading occult books to try to combine it in... though I think honestly..." Yorotsuchi pauses. "I think it might be partially kind of ... I dunno, intent-based maybe? Because the runes aren't always consistent I've noticed in my little bit of practice." She muses to herself. And then.. that first aid magic is dropped on her. She gives a long, contented sigh at that soothing warmth. "Mmm. That's almost like a nice warm mug of tea on a cold day." She murmurs.

She pauses. "I... feel like I *could* go more on the offense if I need to or wanted to, but I don't... particularly want to be the cause of someone or something to suffer? I'd rather not go on the offense unless I'm sure that it will be effective and cause an end. Even in this, knowing Chrono would probably be fine because he's more experienced... it was hard to want to attack him." She shakes her head. "But yeah. ...I would happily support whoever I could as well. Traps and bindings... I think my power can do pretty good on those."

The talk of the device gets a curious look towards said device. "It's helpful, but very telling when you do your attacks. ...I feel like if I interacted with you a lot, it would be easy to know what to expect. ...So you probably have your own difficulties as well." She motions towards the tree Hachi had been hiding in. Hachi skittering down out of it and up onto Yorotsuchi's shoulder. A golden orb weaver, only its abdomen was an eye that was suspiciously similarly colored to Yorotsuchi's. "Hachi can kind of help me too, she can give me a little information... but listening to her is still kind of like listening through honey. Like having to translate another language in my head... if that makes sense?" She muses out loud.

"Anyway, yes! ...Breakfast sounds good."

Rashmi Terios has posed:
"That actually seems to be true for a *lot* of mahou that I've noticed," Rashmi says. "Our Devices are different, but they -- and Chrono -- come from a place where magic *is* technology, so there's a lot more... I guess structure? to it. Like, We can program our spells so they're pretty flexible, but I've seen at least one person just... Take the energy that was gonna be their attack, charge up a handful of just *stuff,* and fling it into someone's face because they didn't have the thing they *normally* charge up to hand. And believe me, there's *so much need* for someone we can rely on to just keep the enemy from moving much. Chrono and I have our Binds, but that's just us, and we're not everywhere!"

Wrapping an arm around Chrono's shoulders, she beams at Ahmya. "Anyway yeah, that was a good training session! Half the time I just think Chrono comes up with new ways of making me panic and think my way out of it, so... Good work!"

"...Also yeah breakfast *does* sound great, there's a cafe in the Yaesu rail station that's supposed to do a *really* good breakfast?"
