| Molly Skyline | Molly has not been back at school for long; but it's been a period of time that has been absolutely crammed with all sorts of meetings and conversations and councilling and a lot of catch-up tutoring and and and And it's exhausing. Also, it's not over yet. Turns out disappearing for ten months carries with it a lot to do when you suddenly and unexpectedly reappear. Not to mention literally the entire student population of the school both A) knowing all about it and B) coming up with at least as many theories about her wholly unexplained disappearance and return as there are students. Today has already been a long enough day, but somehow or other, the purplenette has managed to find the time to slip away, and wander without any particular plan on where she was going until she found herself outside Setsuna's office, whereupond she pauses, takes a breath, and knocks on the door. So there she is; dressed in the standard school uniform, and looking like an entirely normal teenage girl, aside from the fact that her left arm is missing mid-bicep. |
| Setsuna Meiou | A moment after the door is knocked on, it opens, though it's clear after a moment that it was apparently some kind of automatic system, as the door requires a slight push to keep going. As soon as that is done, it becomes apparent why, as the nurse isn't immediately visible...though the open door to the supply area back in the corner makes it obvious where she is, and her voice calls out from within, "...just a moment. Have a seat and I'll be right out." The sounds of some shuffling around and what might be boxes moving can be heard for a few more moments, then Nurse Meiou comes walking out of the supply closet, absently checking over a clipboard as she crosses the room. Halfway across, she looks up and sees that her visitor is Molly, and she absently twists her hand, making the clipboard disappear as she approaches, "Greetings, Miss Skyline. How are you holding up? Is there anything special you need?" There's no condescension of pity in her voice, just genuine concern behind a layer of professionalism. |
| Molly Skyline | 'Is there anything special you need?' Oh boy, there's a good question, and there's no shortage of answers that churn their way into an indecipherable mixture in Molly's brain -- most of which whirl around asking for things that she knows full well are impossible. "I uhh..." she mumbles, and scratches the back of her head. "Sorry, you'd... think I'd have had this better planned out. I guess I really ''should'' come see the school nurse after having been gone for almost a year without explaination, except I'm pretty sure you know what happened, just... you can't say ''officially'' or anything." She quirks her lips upwards at one corner. "I don't know if anyone told you about what happened the other day. Anyway, I..." She trails off, and looks at the floor, then the ceiling, then out the window. "I guess I really just needed a few minutes away from everyone, like, staring at me." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou gives Molly a look for a moment, then nods, walks past her and closes the door, "We've had to do some wrangling of the 'official' paperwork, yes...and while nobody told me exactly what happened...well...at least some things are obvious." She sighs, then shakes her head, "...and I cannot blame you for a lack of planning...as this is something of a big shift." The nurse then indicates one of the comfier looking guest chairs, "Have a seat, relax. I don't mind my office being your getaway from the unfortunately boundless curiousity of the average student body as a collective." Nurse Meiou then walks over to lean up against the counter not far away, "...that all said, IS there anything I can do for you, Miss Skyline?" |
| Molly Skyline | Molly unslings her knapsack form her shoulder, fumbles it, and doens't care. She uses her foot to shove the bag up against the side of the chair before she plops down into it, resting her elbow on the armrest and her face in her hand. "Thanks," she replies, "Right now the main theories flying around are that either I was abducted by aliens and they kept my arm for cloning experiments, or I was kidnapped by a drug cartel and they cut my arm off for... some reason, or I was held captive by cannibals and they..." she shrugs. "Y'know." But ''is'' there anything Nurse Meiou could do for her? "I mean... if you've got a spare arm laying around, that'd be nice," she murmurs wryly. "Otherwise... I just... I dunno how I'm supposed to deal with all this and nobody's been able to give me a good answer yet. Or like, any answer, really. At least while I was possessed by a Daimon -- this is her fault, by the way," she nods towards her left arm, "At least I knew what I had to do, now I'm just lost." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou snorts, "Oh, I'm quite sure I could get you a new arm. The problem is rather getting your body to use it, which puts most of what I can do right out. Prosthetics are possible, but not to the level I imagine you'd want." A frown crosses her face as she folds her arms across her torso, "That said, we can make a few modifications to your room and I can get you some literature...but most of what I have access to and can provide is firmly in the realm of the mundane." She tilts her head a little, "How about when you're not in public? Can Starcrash help you at all? As I recall you said he's rather offensively-focused...but does he have or can learn some minor utility magic to help you?" Nurse Meiou taps her lips for a moment in thought, then remembers an analogy that might work, "It's not a total solution, but I imagine that something akin to 'Mage Hand' would, I imagine help tremendously around your room." |
| Molly Skyline | "My Moms are already looking into prosthetics," Molly acknowledges. "And... I think it's just going to come down to what they can afford along with whatever assistance the government gives for, like... some teenager who lost an arm under unspecified circumstances, since I can't tell them anymore than I can tell my Moms. Which sucks, by the way. But, my Moms ''are'' pretty awesome, they haven't even asked why I was gone all that time. They've just told me they're relieved that I'm back, they love me, and if I ever do want to talk about it they'll listen." Molly takes in the questions about Starcrash, and shakes her head, "Starcrash ''is'' pretty offensively oriented," she agrees, "And like... he can do stuff like help me aim when I'm in combat, but I don't think he can help me clean my room, that's not really something he cares about." The purplenette pauses. Why would the school nurse help with her room OHHHHHHHH "I don't actually have a dorm room, my Moms only adopted me a few years ago so they didn't want me to dorm up here yet, and now they ''definitely'' don't, but like... maybe I could swing it with them, if I could have a room here that I could use, like... sometimes? So I could sleep here if I have to spend long hours studying and doing catchup, rather than going home at night?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou nods, "That shouldn't be too hard. We should have a few rooms set up for visitors, and it would be wholly appropriate for you to crash in one whenever necessary. As I recall, they were set aside for non-boarding students caught here if we got snowed in by a blizzard." Molly's confirmation that her device can't do much to help her outside of a fight elicits another sigh and a fingersnap, "...darn it. One day, we'll run into someone who actually CAN cast cantrip-level magic." She shakes her head, "I cannot COUNT the number of times I've wished I could use the 'prestidigitation' cantrip rather than just having the real-world skill." She then smiles, "...I'm glad, however, to hear that you have a good support system at home." |
| Molly Skyline | "I wish I didn't need it," Molly replies, "But I'm fantastically grateful that I've got it. ...Right now I'm just learning how much I used my left arm for and it turns out it was basically evertyhing and I can barely tied my shoes without having to think really hard about it." She ahems, and gestures downwards. "There also might be a reason I've been wearing velcro lately." The purplenette nods in agreement, "Yeah, I'd like prestidigitation. My first D&D character had it, and whenever she got even slightly messy it was 'cantrip time', problem solved! ...I do wish I could get mage hand but that's apparently not a thing for me. So I'll just have to get a prosthetic and hope for the best." She looks back down at her arm, and frowns at it. "But I want a ''hand''," she insists. "Not one of those.. pinchy-claw things. An actual HAND. Even if it's still limited, I'll... I'll figure it out. I was already planning to go into engineering, I'll... I'll figure it out." Molly pauses again. "Got anything good for nightmares?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | Molly's question causes Nurse Meiou to pause and give her a look, "...I DO have some over the counter stuff that's known for supressing dream sleep. Some basic sleep aids with diphenhydramine...but it's barely stronger than the over-the-counter stuff you can get at the corner store." She sighs, "Anything stronger would require a prescription." After a moment, she shakes her head, "Given that, I'd say take the sleep aids and see if that helps, and if not...ask Miss Hoshino for a bit of help. It falls squarely within her balliwack, after all." The nurse then frowns when prosthetics are mentioned again...and she gets an expression like she's trying to remember something before her face lights up a little, "...Gottfried! I'd almost forgotten about him!" She pulls out her phone, does a quick search...then blinks at what she sees before raising her hand to cover a giggle, "I met a knight once who had a prosthetic...this is it...I think we can do quite better these days, but this is what they were able to accomplish back then. And she then turns her phone around to show Molly a picture of 'The Iron Hand of Götz von Berlichingen'. |
| Molly Skyline | Molly ohs! "Yeah, I ''should'' talk to Emi-chan, that'd be the best idea," she agrees. "And I totally should have thought of that myself, I just... I guess I'm kind of... mixed up still. I keep closing my eyes to go to sleep feeling absolutely ''terrified'' that I'm going to wake up and everyone rescuing me will have been just a dream, and I'll s till be trapped as Seriss' host and everything will be awful." She sighs, and shakes her heah, "That's not going to go away any time soon, is it?" And then there's the picture of the Iron Hand, and Molly stares at it for a moment, before pointing at it emphatically with a stabbing finger for emphasis. "That. I want that. Except like, the modern version, that works by reading your brainwaves and can waggles the fingers at least a little bit independantly." She sucks a breath, and heaves a great sigh. "I ''know'' that no matter what I get, it's going to be... a loss of what I had before. It'll never be a true replacement. But I just need it to be as much as I can get. And... and I'll figure it out from there. Somehow. I guess I'm super motivated to do engineering in university now." Molly stops, and goes silent as the gears turn in her head. Yes, Molly. Think. Setsuna said something there. "Wait, you met the guy who had that?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou gives a slightly sad look and a small shake of her head, "It's understandable that you'll have some PTSD from what you went through...but sadly only time and therapy will help with some of it." The sad look transforms to a bit of a frown as she heaves a sigh, "...and sadly, we don't really have any magical therapists. But we DO have a lot of people who are both unconditional in their ability to care and listen as well as being inclined to do so." She taps her lips for a moment, then says, "...as a suggestion, I might suggest trying a sleepover with some of your friends. I rather imagine that Miss Terios would be more than happy to do so...and you can see if the simple presence of another nearby helps you sleep...but yes, checking with Miss Hoshino is always a good idea when dealing with dreams." When Molly asks her question, however, Nurse Meiou smiles broadly, "Once, in passing. Rather before he kidnapped the bishop." There's a pause as she taps her lips in thought, then she nods, "...it was in Stuttgardt if I recall. Some cookshop whose name escapes me. Said hello, exchanged a few pleasantries, then parted ways." She shrugs, "You meet a few people over the years." |
| Molly Skyline | "...You know I hadn't heard anyone use that word in relation to ''me'' yes," Molly murmurs. "Well... acronym. Whatever. PTSD. But I guess that's what I've got and I..." She trails off, about to say she'll have to figure it out. "I'll have to get a lot of help with it," she finishes instead. "And... yeah, it'll be good to talk to people who know about magic and I can tell them about Seriss and everything that happened, even if they're not 'therapists' but I think that'll help." She shrugs her shoulders. "What am I gonna tell an actual therapist anyway? Aside from I lost my arm and it sucks btu I can't remember anything, sorry." Molly tilts her gaze away, "I'm only a few years off from the Fade anyway, though," she muses, "And... I guess if there's anything good about that, at least I won't remember spending a whole year of my life as a daimon host, watching someone else pull the strings and using my body for the express purpose of hurting my friends. So that's good at least. ...I think." she shruds, "I don't know how I'll remember losing an arm but... I guess that's not my problem right now." The purplenette looks back up at Setsuna, with big eyes. "You ever meet anyone over the years," she asks, "Who might've had advice about that?" |
