| Takashi Agera | It was probably a big signal about how seriously he took his conversation with Sayaka, and to a similar extent, with Hotaru, that Takashi had even decided to do this. But... the Memory Jar had been in his posession for long enough that Riventon had scoured it of most of its magic and made every possible data recording. He could probably rebuild it from scratch now with enough energy and focus; he certainly had all he needed to crack the code and ascertain it's use in his projects, in the Fade. So, based on that and what Sayaka said and how harmed Hotaru felt, he was no standing in front of Hinoiri's dorm room, with the actual Memory jar as a totally-not-suspicious lump under part of his coat (it was getting cold in Tokyo). Luckily, nobody had stopped him yet to ask about it. So he just knocked on the door, sighing. The things one does for love. Or intense like. Or comfort. Or whatever-he-could-call-it. |
| Hinoiri Kirara | The door opened and... Hinoiri stared at him for a moment, glanced at his coat and... sighed. "Come on in," she said, motioning him inside. And once he was inside. "That better not be kyubey under there," she said. "Who's mascot, and what happened?" Well, a guy she knows and... mildly trusts shows up outside her room with a jacket and a lump, she at least trusts it to be magic related and assumes it's a mascot. That's... probably good. ... And hopes it's not Kyubey. Because if it's kyubey, there is a non-zero chance SOMEBODY is gonna get punched. And it may, or may not, be kyubey. She WAS wearing her boots, so it might be Takashi and the lil contract demon might get punted. |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi nods, and doesn't even make a comment about things though... they do cross his mind, so a little smirk is there before it fades. "No mascot. I'm just finished up with pulling data from this and..." he says as he pulls the ancient-looking amphora-jar with magical-girl seeming scenes painted on the side of it from his coat and sits it on her desk. "... thought it might be the sort of thing you'd like to take a look at." "It's connected to the Fade, and I'm working on a way to bypass it for at least a few important people, but. Well. Here it is. Magic Memory Jar. Lot of the magic's out of it though, but the data for that is on this." he said, holding up a flash drive and then holding it out for her. |
| Hinoiri Kirara | Hinoiri Kirara blinked a few times as she looked at the jar... And slowly, gently, she placed it down on the table. It took a moment, but... "It's magical. It... is actually the real deal, isn't it?" she asked. "You're not messing with me. Why?" she asked, stunned. "... Huh," she said, before taking the pin drive in hand. "Wait, magic is out of it? What'd you do with it?" she asked. "This isn't another decoy, is it?" she asked, sounding a bit suspicious. "... Or something else? What exactly are you up to? I've never known you to willingly give up magic... anything." |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi shakes his head, and sighs. "No, I'm not messing with you at all. The magic left it as part of me breaking it down to understand it - the magic, not the jar - the thing was faint anyways, and if I'm going to have any hope of utilizing it to protect people from the Fade I'll need to be able to emulate it at a stronger local scale." "As far as I can tell, back in ancient history, magical folk could store memories in the jar, and it could be passed to the next generation so they would literally feel like they'd already fought their opponents. And the thought from Obsidian was that you gals might be able to use that idea in some way to avoid the Fade, which is why I had to go steal or destroy it. And well, that sort of thing might be useful to some people close to me, so I did one and made it look like the other." Riventon explains. "Look, I figure maybe you can get something of value out of it too... and someone I'm close to made a point about me not entirely keeping it to myself. Truthfully, I haven't quite had a breakthrough yet, and well... I guess you can think of it something like a challenge, and that chip is a head start. You probably wouldn't be able to catch up with me from nothing, but with that data - should be a little bit fairer." |
| Hinoiri Kirara | Hinoiri Kirara gave a small nod as she listened. Huh. That... was interesting. She was learning... actually quite a bit from this. Possibly more than Takashi wanted to share. And there was a saying. When someone kept talking, let them. Because this? Was info she had never heard when she was in Obsidian. And that meant he had access to brand new info that was a LOT higher on the chart than she'd had. He must have gotten a promotion. And then... he said *that*. And her fist clenched. "I... see..." she said. "So. How much information does Obsidian have about objections like that?" she asked. "Weird magic relics that might help people avoid the fade?" she asked. "And store memories, things like that?" she asked. "And who was this 'friend' of yours? Mamoru?" she asked with a small smirk. Seems she hadn't, yet, heard about the fight. |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi smiles and holds up a finger. "That's for me to know and you to fail to guess, really." he says cryptically, to the question about the artifacts. "I'm not going to reveal everything - I said I was giving you a ''head start'', not ''all the answers''." he notes. It is, after all, still him. "Mamoru probably mouthed himself out of getting any help from me; maybe that's something you can do for him - if you can take what I gave you and turn it into something worthwhile on your own." he notes. "The people I'm really concerned about making it through to the other side of what's coming are you - which is part of why you're getting a chance to work it out, in case something happens to me and you don't get saved ahead of the coming tide - and a mutual friend of ours I've grown rather fond of." "But you're - no, we're both - on a clock. The Fade is going to catch a lot more people than are prepared for it. You have less time than you think you do." he notes. "Of course, I'm on it, so you don't really need to worry about it - but I thought it'd be a fun exercise to see how close you could get before I find the answer. You've got the real thing now, and I've only got the ''data'' - which is also in that drive I gave you. You're the one I think might be able to do it in time if something happens to me - and you know, maybe I'll actually have to actually try just a little if I want to make sure you don't overtake me. It's motivation." |
| Hinoiri Kirara | Hinoiri Kirara stared at him a few times, before nodding. "I... see," she said. "... Lucky I can get back home then. Good to know." There was... something else about what he said. His hints. And she'd played that game. Danced that dance. She knew what was meant by it. 'On a clock'. 'Think we do'. 'Something happens to me'. There was a risk to this. That jar was going out of her room as soon as he was gone, and she knew where. Time to get it to the shed. She'd need to talk to Coco, Rashmi and maybe that new girl, Entrapta... And it seemed that they were trying to accelerate it in some way. Or could. That was news. And news she didn't like, nope. If they could do that... That was trouble. "... I see," Hinoiri said, clenching her teeth again. "So you don't think I can figure it out? Just because I'm not Sunbreaker anymore doesn't mean I'm not one of the premier unicorns of Kirakirafantastica... and even if the magic isn't *quite* the same, magic *is* still magic." No, no it wasn't. But oh, that fire was almost enveloping her. "But thank you, Takashi. It's nice to know that you decided, this time, to do the right thing rather than waiting until trying every single other option first. So, who's this mutual friend of ours, anyway? Must be pretty special if they got you to actually admit you *need* my help." Oh. Ohhhh she was poking BACK. |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi smiles. "Oh I know you can figure out given enough time. I think there may even be enough time, especially if I can get as involved in the actual timing part as I'd like." he says. "I respect your intelligence or I wouldn't be here. I don't think you're at my level but that's nothing to be ashamed of. Nobody is. You're one of the closest, and that's worth being proud of." He says with nothing but absolute honesty. Not even a sneer or looking down on her - just how he believes in his heart. "She's very special to me. I wouldn't say that she changed my mindset, just opened my eyes and made me think a little more critically about it, and like I said, something could happen to me - I might get sidelined, or something might happen and I'd hate to run the risk that there was nobody following the same path on this. It ''is'' important enough." he says. "I really don't want to see you lose your memories. You know? You don't deserve that. And I don't want to see you have to run back to horseland to avoid it." he admits. "And you're not the only one. Our mutual friend... she's gorgeous, and talented, and a joy to be around..." oh, now Takashi does sound a bit... smitten. "Anyways..." he says, visibly shaking it off. |
| Hinoiri Kirara | Hinoiri Kirara had to take a slow, deep breath at that. Not at his *level*. Oh, that arrogant... egotistical... Nope. Don't. Deep breath. Control. She wasn't going to rise to it. It was just. Takashi. "... Huh. Sounds like you got as new girlfriend," Hinoiri said, focusing on that. "But okay then. I'll put my head on this, and leave you in my dust, as I do," she said with a smirk. "Cause, well... if you get put into the hospital for a bit because enough sparkles get mad at you," she teased. "And sounds like you got it bad. Heh, it's kind of cute. Don't screw it up. And... yeah," Hinoiri said with a sigh. "... We both know I can't stay here if the fade starts hitting me. I'd lose pretty much... all that I am. And dark energy just... isn't an option anymore. So... I guess, thanks for doing the right thing this time. I'll get to work on it and figure it out. Now get out of here before you end up ruining this good deed and making me want to punch you in the face by being obnoxious." Well. More than he had already been... |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi laughs. "Well, it's good to see even without magic you haven't changed. You're still you. Motivated, passionate, and overestimating your own ability." Pot, meet pot factory. "Well, it's always an option, but I understand if you don't want to risk it. But yeah, you probably want to get to work on this. I've been thinking about it while we've been talking on the downlow, which probably means I'm already a few days ahead of you." he says, again sounding like he's speaking in all seriousness. "I'll be on my way now before someone sees me here." Wait, why would that matter? "Looking forward to giving you a tool to resist the Fade while you're still working out the mathemagic behind it though... I mean most of it's in the drive there but it's complicated." |
| Hinoiri Kirara | Hinoiri Kirara blinked a few times and glowered. "Overestimating my ability?!" she asked, clenching her fist. "Takashi, you're smart, for a human. But don't underestimate me," she said firmly. "Don't think for a moment you can challenge me and just take me down. I'll have this figured out before you know it." Then her eyes twitched. A few... DAYS... ahead of her? While they were TALKING? Oh, she SO wanted to slug him. Or yell... "Listen here you arrogant little.... no... no... just... just get out of here," she snapped. Before slamming the door closed. "GAHHHHHHHH!" Stupid. IDIOT! Ugh. Sometimes he was so frustrating. As if she needed his help. She could figure this out WITHOUT him... She then sighed. And if it wasn't something as dangerous as the fade... She... wouldn't. But with this? She... She... She looked in her hand. And stared. At the... fragments of pin drive. That she had crushed in her fist in her fury. "... Oh Sora..." |
