Setsuna Meiou As the reception had moved to the open dancing period after the wedded couple had their dance where people were free to mingle, change partners, or just sit on the sidelines and have quiet discussions while critiquing others, Sailor Pluto had been ready to move to ask Riventon to dance...only for Hotaru to beat her to it.

Seeing her charge do so, the Guardian of Pluto eased back and waited.

Saturn had a greater right for said dance, anyhow...and Pluto has gotten VERY good at waiting.

Thus, Sailor Pluto took a bit of time to make another pass at the refreshment table before turning to watch the dancers once more...and when Saturn leaves the taller young man with whom so many have a very...complicated relationship...Sailor Pluto smiles to see that it's with a soft laugh and a smile on her face.

Thus it is that Riventon might get surprised for a SECOND time as he watches Saturn depart by a gentle tap on his shoulder, which turning will reveal a softly smiling Sailor Pluto, "If you're not too tired, may I have the next dance?"
Takashi Agera     Being asked by the tall woman with the green hair to dance is, in fact, a surprise. Riventon's meetings with Sailor Pluto have been almost exclusively on the hostile side; with him on the reciving end of a Dead Scream or a Garnet Rod bash.

Still, while he's visibly surprised for a moment, he pushes Hotaru gently towards the snack table and smiles back at her. "Well, it ''would'' be terribly rude of me not do accept when a beuatiful woman asks for a dance on the Moon, ne?" he asks, outstretching a gloved hand.

"Besides, it'll be interesting, I'm used to dancing with those who are quite a bit shorter than me." he says, and while Riventon and his brother don't have a lot in common, they're both quite tall for Japanese standards - as is the woman he's offering his hand to.
Setsuna Meiou Sailor Pluto takes the offered hand and nods, "Something I can sympathise with, sadly."

The greenhaired senshi gives a little snort, "In fact, dancing with someone my height will be a rather refreshing change of pace."

At that, she lets Riventon lead if he so wishes.

As it turns out, Pluto is an adroit dancer. Either she was well taught in her youth and remembers the skills or she somehow managed to learn after and kept her hand in. Either way, she's not going to be stepping on any toes if she doesn't intend to.

After the dance is begun and the two are on the floor and where the likelyhood of being overheard is incredibly low, the Senshi goes on, "I know we've had our differences...probably several...but here, now? I want to thank you."
Takashi Agera     Pluto is assuredly a better dancer than Riventon. Riventon is slightly above 'does not step on partner's feet' - and it's likely that was practiced and maybe helped out a bit by the second part of magical eyes that his Device provides him. He's clearly a bit awkward still, especially leading; nothing like those who either have more than one lifetime's worth of practice or put the effort in that Chrono did.

"For what? And I wouldn't say we've had differences. I'd just say that you - like so many of your friends - are rather firmly wrong. Differences are for opinions, like if blue and yellow are good together or disconcerting to one's eyes." Riventon says.

"Still, I have to repeat the inquiry. I suspect you haven't come to an ephiphany about staying out of my way for the good of the pale blue dot behind us, so... why the thanks?"
Setsuna Meiou Rinventon's comment about her being firmly wrong gets a slight smirk and an eyeroll from the greenhaired senshi, as well as a slight shake of the head.

In response to his question, however, she responds in an earnest voice, "...for CARING."

And she then nods slightly but noticably first in the rough direction of where the Groom is with his bride...and over towards the refreshment table where Saturn wandered off to.
Takashi Agera     Riventon pauses, looking along with her. "Of course I care. Hota- I mean, Saturn, though I guess we all know - is a good girl. She was a good friend of mine, and she deserves better than the roll of the dice that the universe gave her." he says, bluntly.

"She's not the only one, of course. A lot of people got bad dice, so to speak, but... Even among them, she stood out. I wish I could have done more, could have seen the way she was being used by her fake father, but... I did what I could. I regret it wasn't enough on its own, though."

"It was right to get her out of Obsidian when we did, too. But still, I took a lot of delaying actions where it would have been better if I had full solutions... I'm glad caring was enough but I worry for the next person for whom it's not."
Setsuna Meiou Pluto sighs and nods, "We do what we can for who we can, and ultimately, it was enough this time."

She pauses, then shrugs, "...as for the rest...we do our best for them."

She trails off for a moment, the tilts her head a little, "...one of the kindest, wisest men to ever live once said 'look to the helpers'...and he wasn't wrong. You helped. Repeatedly. Which is far more than many can say."

Pluto trails off for a moment, then shrugs again, "...as for the rest? We'll just have to build a world where the dice are loaded in our favor."
Takashi Agera     Riventon listens and muses. "Ah, I know that one yes." He says, despite it being a little chronologically and geographically off. But Riventon, once, simply loved learning for the sake of learning, giving him a rather wide swathe of information in the corners of his mind.

"Despite appearances much of what I do is to help." He says, simply. "We shouldn't live in a world where Queen Beryl has a 50-50 rate for destroying my planet. We shouldn't live in a world where Sailor Saturn - or yourself, for that matter - are bound inexorably to fight monsters day in and day out. She's got her body back but... she shouldn't have to fight, too. None of you should."
Setsuna Meiou Pluto smiles at Riventon's comment, "...nor should someone have to soak themselves in an energy that is by nature inimical to humanity to try and wrangle it into something potentially useful."

She then sighs, "...sadly, as I have been reminded lately, as much as we might like it to, the universe currently does not run on hugs...and there are far, FAR too many who ascribe to the philosophy of 'fuck you, I got mine'."

Pluto shakes her head, "I've seen it go very badly before. More times than I like to think about...and I don't mind fighting to keep it from going bad again...though I grant I'd be happier if I had to do it less often."
Takashi Agera     "Well, if we can't prevent all of us from having to jump through hoops to keep our world running, we should minimize the number of us who have to do so and the amount of stress it takes." he says, simply.

"But there's not going to be a way to succeed at that without Dark Energy." he notes, right before a totally coincidental and not narratively related at all slight stumble in his dance. "I mean it took like... five or six of you to stop me back when I wasn't even fully powered? I can accomplish a lot more already than any other individual. That's why. Harm reduction."
Setsuna Meiou Pluto arches an eyebrow again, "Harm reduction? Is it REALLY 'harm reduction' when I've needed to learn the plural of the word 'apocalypse' in the last few years...and every time because someone who's hyped up on Dark Energy has gone off the deep end and managed to come remarkably close to destroying the world?"

She shakes her head, "I'll grant you handle the stuff far better than perhaps anyone else I've ever seen, but as I'm sure you're WELL aware, you're so much a statistical outlier that any scientist worth the name doing an analysis of their results would discard your data point."

Pluto then pauses and sighs as she notes the song is approaching a close, "...sorry. We've gotten a bit afield. I just wanted to thank you...and while I find myself opposed to you, I DO respect you...and at least two people who I care for care for you as well...so I ask that you please do your best not to let yourself get chewed up by some of the crazies over there who I know even YOU have to step lightly around."
Takashi Agera     "You gotta fight fire with fire sometimes, you know." Riventon says as the dance winds down. "Or in a more... specific way, you can think of me as a controlled burn. By working with Obsidian and making sure the power and research goes to me, I can starve the fuel of the rest of them, preventing a lot more damage. Sure, sometimes the things I do - the energy drain, or whatever - it looks bad at first glance, but you have to consider it in relation to the much worse outcome that my power prevents." he says.

"I get what you're saying about statistical anomalies, but we're dealing with magic here - anomalies are the whole... everything." he says. "Even magic of the same type doesn't behave the same way, so after a point we just have to go with what works." And it's clear to Riventon, him having power is what works.

"But... thank you for the kind words, I don't get to hear them too often. And... keep an eye on Sailor Saturn for me. The girl behind the henshin... she's... brilliant, in her own way, but also a little bit... headstrong. She's the type who could get into trouble. And she needs to be looked after, even if she's no longer holding a monster within her. And she has a lot of power on her own, so try to make sure none of the sparkles gets the wrong idea about it."
Setsuna Meiou Mention of Hotaru has Sailor Pluto smiling brightly once more, "Oh, trust me, I know. I long ago resolved myself to fight to never let that delightful young woman come to harm."

A look is cast towards the refreshment table, "...Saturn and I have borne...parallel burdens. Different...but enough for me to understand what she went through."

She shakes her head, "Even when others have been afraid of her and what she represented, I have always done my best to see and show to others that wonderful young woman who hums her own theme music."

As the song finally winds to a close, Pluto draws slightly away before offering a small curtsy to Riventon, then steps forward and gives him a light kiss on the cheek where she whispers, "...and I will give my life to protect hers...that is, after all, why you got her to me in the first place."

And with that said, Pluto steps back, winks, and walks off.
