| Chiyo Sakai | Chiyo TXT: Mamo-kun. Usagi-chan. Could you both stop by the shop after closing? Ojiisan asked to speak with you about something. Chiyo knew what, of course, but she was kind of sweating over the situation. Ojiisan was more reasonable than his grumpy demeanor often said but... There was zero chance they were hiding the fact a wedding was occuring while using the kitchen for specialty items, baking, and working on party favors. Even if they were as innoccous as possible party favors. Another additional text is shot off of 'I'm sorry.' The shop was unlocked after hours, of course, in anticipation of those coming in. Chiyo ushers them not to the back of the shop as she sometimes did but up to the apartment above. In the living area Ojiisan was sat at a table with his hands steepled in front of him, wisened eyes narrowed and lips pressed tight into a thin line. A judging silence stretches out before he clears his throat. "Hnn. So. Are you pregnant? Is that why you rushed getting married?" |
| Usagi Tsukino | Usagi TXT: Speak to us about what? Usagi TXT: What did you do?! The text is a reasonable one, given that Chiyo's giving them an apology and also saying they're being summoned, ''right after their wedding'', which is a ''secret'', and if it's not a secret - It's a really good thing that she's not New Moon again, for more than one reason. This is especially true when they enter not the shop, but Chiyo's apartment upstairs together, holding hands, and get confronted with ''that''. Usagi does not have to disguise her double-take of sheer astonishment. "WHAT?! Pre- PREGNANT - MARRIED? WHAT?!" Her astonishment is real, but her ''anger'' is too. |
| Mamoru Chiba | "What?" asks Mamoru, shocked blank. "Who-- what?" Well, that's not a lie, that's real honest true absolute bafflement. He looks at Usagi and parses that she's getting mad, and puts together why in less than a heartbeat, and he squeezes Usagi's hand. ''However you want to handle this I've got your back.'' "Ojiisan, while I appreciate everything you've done for me, and for us," the teenager says firmly, shoulders squaring; there's something different about his carriage and bearing, something different about the way he sounds, like something's come unveiled. "I don't appreciate the accusations." |
| Chiyo Sakai | Chiyo Sakai stands to the side near the wall with her arms crossed over her chest looking just a bit guilty as the pair file in. She remains quiet... At least until the question comes. Her head jerks up looking absolutely aghast at the question turning red-faced over it. "Ojiisan!" She blurts out, only to drop her head into her hand. Apparently she, too, wasn't expecting at least PART of that question. Ojiisan watches the pair from the shocked, angry reaction, to the stoic and defiant response from Mamoru as well. He drops one hand down to the table while the other simply moves to the side palm forward in a 'stop' gesture. "I have to ask. It's not unheard of for such situations to occur-" For a moment his gaze shifts toward Chiyo who has gone quiet again as she just ducks her head once more. "If you cannot include your parents in this, *someone* has to ask in case you need help. Judging by your reactions though that isn't the case. "So. Just married." Here he nods simply taking a deep breath before he continues with a more subdued, "Finishing school?" |
| Usagi Tsukino | Looking a ''bit'' guilty is not nearly enough to cool the fire in Usagi's eyes when she glares at her cousin - ''no'' amount of wedding help is worth this! What if her ''parents'' find out - "You don't have to ask, because we're not even married," Usagi bites out, squeezing Mamoru's hand in return. There's a sense of apology there, for Mamoru, that she is denying their wedding, but the uncompromising truth is that Usagi does not want her parents to know - they would be ''hurt''. They would be upset, sure, but they would be ''hurt'', and she will not risk that, not when Mamoru knows how much she loves him. It's hideously embarrassing to be asked such a thing by a distant relative, so bluntly and rudely, and it's infuriating to not even get a ''warning'' from the cousin who leaked her secret. Her eyes are narrow as she looks at Ojisan. "I don't know what Chiyo-chan's lead you to believe, but we're not married. I ''love'' my parents, and leaving them out of my wedding is the last thing I'd want. And we may have been ''distant'' family for a long time, but my Mama's come by enough for candy for it to be ''very'' clear that I'll be finishing school." |
| Mamoru Chiba | There's warmth and no offense -- instead there's apology that they couldn't, in the end, invite her parents after all because of the boss fights. He's not worried about Usagi denying it. He's trying not to get mad, himself, because one of them being mad is enough, and better it be the <s>one who didn't just marry in</s> one who is related. He's still respectful and firm, though, and he says, "Besides, we're both under eighteen. We'd need their permission anyway. I mean, we haven't even decided who's going on whose koseki." Everyone knows he's going to be Mamoru Tsukino-- but that's the thing. If they were married, EVERYONE in the family would know. |
| Chiyo Sakai | Chiyo Sakai winces when Usagi retorts, and she starts to say something--But then just thinks better of it by clicking her jaw shut. The uncomfortable shift of her weight from one foot to the other comes as she fusses with her hands behind her back now. Ojiisan just nods slowly as they both respond, angrily and calmly in turn. A deep breath is drawn, and he ducks his head forward toward them a single time. "Aah. You'll have to forgive this old man. I drew the wrong conclusion after seeing the cake that was being made in the kitchen. My wife and I were younger than you two when we were married." He pushes away from the table to stand and performs a stiff, curt bow. "I look forward to the day when you can join our family." |
| Usagi Tsukino | Usagi dips her head in return, stiff and without her usual casual posture. Her free hand is gripping at the sleeve of her pale blue jean jacket, her other squeezing Mamoru, the incensed and frustrated and embarrassed whirl of her thoughts filtering to him with only the most minimal of restraints - he doesn't shield with her, she doesn't usually bother to try and shield with him. "It was a misunderstanding. Chibiusa-chan had an early birthday this weekend, since we have important exams coming up soon. She wanted a fancy party." It's an explanation, and an olive branch that she doesn't have to offer - after the ''rudeness'' of what she's just experienced, it isn't her responsibility to repair the damage here, but out of the kindness of her heart, she's offering ''something''. RShe is not offering the truth. No one deserves the truth more than her parents, and for reasons outside of her and Mamoru's control, they weren't able to get that truth. ''She's not giving it to anyone else in their position.'' "The times were very different back then. When we've had the talks and decided who's going on whose koseki, we'll send out invitations." A deep breath, and she turns to the door. "This... misunderstanding was - really unfortunate, Ojisan. I hope that next time we talk it will be about something pleasant. Chiyo-chan, will you escort us out, so we don't leave anything unlocked?" |
| Mamoru Chiba | Mamoru's lips are pressed into a thin line; he bows back to Ojiisan just deeply enough to make the point about being fucking civil, as it were, and he holds Usagi's hand back tightly enough that the structure of their handclasp is a binary star system. He vaguely feels like he should say something, but no: Usagi can see him make up his mind to release the impulse into the void. He just walks at her side, or behind her, as they leave the building with Chiyo. |
| Chiyo Sakai | Chiyo Sakai bobs her head quickly in agreement with a mumbled, "Of course." The path out is taken again, only to pause at the bottom of the stairs near the door. Her hand linger son it with head hung. "I'm really, really sorry. I knew he had suspicions but I didn't know he'd go that far. I swear." A glance is risked toward the pair breifly. "... I don't blame you for being angry at me. I really am sorry." |
| Usagi Tsukino | Usagi does not breathe a word until they're outside, and until Chiyo's second - and then third - apology of the night is uttered. When she speaks, it's obvious that she's holding back her frustration and anger. "A warning would have been nice. You know. Since you had suspicions." She does not suggest that she isn't angry, the way she might usually with one of her favorite people. There are still splotches of color on her cheeks, embarrassed anger still visible. |
| Mamoru Chiba | Mamoru just shoves his hands in his skinny jeans pockets and hunches his shoulders a little bit, looking half mad and half shamed. "Like. Would it have killed you to lie?" |
| Chiyo Sakai | "I... You're right I should have warned." Chiyo winces a bit more at Mamoru's remark, and she just lets out a very long, weary sigh. "It's... it's hard for me to lie to Ojiisan. I didn't tell him the truth! I just, I couldn't come up with a good lie, either." It's all her fault, she knew. She lingers by the door a moment looking between the two again, before turning back to the door. "I messed up. I know. For what it's worth, I know he hasn't spoken to any of the other family about his suspicions. And Chibiusa's birthday--Yeah I should have thought of that." Awkwardly she lingers, then turns with a murmer of, "Goodnight. I'm sorry." |
| Usagi Tsukino | "Practice," Usagi suggests, and it's a little harsh, but - "I have to lie to my parents about a lot of things. And for what it's worth - I ''respect'' you and Ojisan enough not to just ask Chibiusa to fix this with her hypnosis umbrella." It's frustrated. It's the truth. She knows very well that Chibiusa would be willing to use it for this, especially since there's every chance they'll eventually need to use it to explain how a pre-schooler magically transformed into an elementary school kid in a single month. "..Goodnight, Chiyo-chan. See you at school tomorrow." And she drags Mamoru off. |
