| Adora Rainbowfist | It had been a long night for Adora, one that had started relatively nicely, really, but, well. Then some things happened. A braid was cut. A door was sliced off its hinges. Oh and she turned back into She-Ra after a horrible mini-crisis while her friend's knees were being broken! Yeah. That part kind of sucked. It's probably, part of why She-Ra had marched through town, keeping Catra cradled against her the entire time. It was probably not the fastest method she could have gotten Catra to help, but it was the method that she chose. Thus, it was probably likely that Setsuna heard She-Ra approaching before she saw her, not because She-Ra was being particularly loud (Though her footsteps likely resounded through the hallways of the academy), but more towards the potential gasps and surprise of those who happened to see the 8 foot tall Amazoness walking through the building towards the nurse's office, carrying a curled up girl in her arms. She didn't hesitate to knock, she was still riding somewhat of the high of She-Ra's energy from the first time transforming into the 'true' form of She-Ra. She didn't really FLING OPEN the door at least though. ... But it did possibly open a little harder than she'd intended, possibly slamming against the back wall ever-so-slightly from failure to adjust her strength. Not a resounding 'BANG' but definitely loud enough to get someone's attention, most likely. "Nurse. She -- I -- we -- her knees were broken -- we did what we could but --." LUCKILY between Adora's healing and healing provided by Hotaru, the knees were probably no longer broken. But man, what a way to enter a room. |
| Catra | When Catra decided to take New Moon on, she had envisioned... Well she's not really sure what she envisioned but winding up with two broken knees was definitely not it. And even after receiving impromptu healing from Adora, she's still got two screwed up knees and as much as she likes to be fully independant, even she can't ignore the fact that she can't walk and every movement of her legs is complete agony lancing all the way up to her teeth, so with her ears flat agains her head, and her head tucked against Adora's shoulder, and her arms hanging on to her shoulders, she just allows herself to be carried. All the way to the Infirmary which she has been avoiding like the plague since she first set one tentative foot in Radiant Heart Academy. (Not that she's bothered attending a class yet.) And she's been crying. That much is obvious. But then, who wouldn't be? But all the same, she keeps her face turned away so Setsuna can't easily see it, not that it isn't obvious. "And it... f-friggin hurts," she whispers, sounding considerably less tough while making a flippant comment than she would have liked. |
| Setsuna Meiou | Fortunately for the door to the infirmary, there is a sturdy rubber backstop installed to keep She-Ra from putting the doorknob through the drywall. Granted, the impact from the amazon of a young woman means that the rubber doorstop gets smooshed and obliterated by the door...but it's easier to reinstall one of those little rubber things than it is to fix the drywall next to the door. And indeed, Nurse Meiou WAS aware of Adora's impending arrival...though it was less the oncoming sound and more that she's got informants who give her heads ups from time to time...and the sight of a giant woman carrying another woman like a sack of potatoes who is in obvious pain. Thus, as the door swings open, Nurse Meiou is not in her customary spot leaning against a counter and reading a book, but rather she's over next to one of the beds off in the corner, already scrubbed up and with supplies at hand, "Miss She-Ra, please bring her over here and we'll start with getting her pain dealt with." While that's happening, the Nurse moves over to follow near Catra so she can speak with the patient, "...now, Miss Catra, normally I'd have a far better baseline to work with, but unfortunately, someone's been deliberately avoiding coming to see me so that we could have gotten that out of the way...so I'm afraid I'm going to be running blind. If you know of anything specific you're allergic to, let me know, otherwise I'm going to assume baseline and we'll work from there. In the meantime, take these with this, it'll start taking the edge off soon if I can't do anything else immediate while I work." And she hands Catra four sparkly silver oblong pills and a small bottle of water before stepping fully out of the way for Adora to get Catra situated on the indicated bed. |
| Adora Rainbowfist | In general, She-Ra was doing her best to be gentle and ginger in her movements -- considering injured knees, even post-healing, tend to be unpleasant with sudden jostling. Unfortunately for things around her, her main focus was on keeping CATRA from being jostled. Luckily for the people around her, she was pretty easy to notice and get out of the way of. Not that she'd probably have shoved anyone or anything like that, really. She'd done her best to cradle Catra in a way that minimized movements of the knees as best as she could, as well as make her feel supported and lightly squished against her probably. ... That poor door. She hadn't meant to open it /that/ hard, but, well. Luckily the rubber doorstop did its job. Rest in peace, doorstop! Rest in peace! "...Ah, I'll. Uhm. Come by to help fix that later." She comments a bit awkwardly as she walks over to set Catra down on the bed she was called over to. Luckily, again, between She-Ra's healing and Hotaru's healing, the /bones/ were probably mostly fine by now. Probably. ...That might not have helped quite as much for the other damage that, well. Comes with such violent treatment. After she gingerly sets down Catra, she moves over to (much more gently) close the door. And then she glances down at herself. ... She can worry about that later. She gives a slow exhale, and then releases the She-Ra transformation, returning to being Adora Rainbowfist. At which point she would grab a chair, move over opposite of Setsuna, and take one of Catra's hands in both of hers. "Hey, Catra. Don't worry. I'll be here the whole time. Nurse Meiou will take good care of you." |
| Catra | "I..." Are you allergic to anything, Catra? "I've never been to the hospital so I don't get dissected," she protests. "I don't... I have ''no idea'' if I'm allergic to anything other than this entire planet." The feline pinches her eyes shut as she's set down, and then just... doesn't move, from there. She covers her face with her hands, and basically looks like she's trying to stare at the ceiling through her hands. "This wasn't what... I planned on," she mutters. "I..." She sucks in a breath. This really hurts. "I can take care of myself," she grumbles. "...U-usually. Maybe.. not right now." While Setsuna is doing her thing, the feline looks up at Adora, and lets her hands flop onto the bed to either side of her. "Meanwhile, you got She-Ra back," she half-whispers. "You're doing good. Turns out I'm the most useless villain ever. Got kicked out of Obsidian, I'm basically homeless and I got my knees broken picking a stupid fight because apparently I'm stupid." Oh, right, the pils. She looks at them, and pops them in her mouth all at once, before putting the glass to her lips and swallowing everything in one gulp. And then she lays there, looking concerned. "What did I just swallow?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou makes herself busy examining Catra for a few moments, and as soon as she's taken the pills, the nurse clips one of those fingertip pulse oximeters on Catra's finger. As she makes sure there are no open wounds, then she looks over at Catra, "That was a very generic painkiller that you swallowed. It should kick in one way or the other shortly. Additionally, Miss Catra, if you think I would dissect you, you REALLY haven't been listening to what others say around here." She shakes her head, "...and we're going to take care of that 'homeless' thing here as well. I have the power to set you up in an otherwise unused dorm room...heavens know we've got more capacity than we're using at the moment." She then turns to the tray she has set up near by...and pulls off a little cover to reveal several pre-loaded needles, "Now if you'll hold as still as you can manage. Now since we don't know what your allergies are like, but I can tell your pain is pretty serious right now, we're going to give you a very small dose of a local anesthetic. It should help somewhat, and if you don't have a reaction to it, I can then use more." She gives the others a few moments to process that, then she picks up one of the needles and uses it to inject a small amount of local anesthetic right above the left knee, "...small pinch here..." |
| Adora Rainbowfist | "Stuff happens. Plans... fall through. Plans fell through a LOT when we were fighting you when you were with the horde, Catra." Adora says, her tone is calm and even, she's trying to be soothing, not really... well... trying to dismiss Catra's feelings but. "It sucks, man it sucks a lot when they do, but... but it's not that big of a deal, and needing help doesn't make you less able to take care of yourself." She adds. She might be mimicing things that she'd heard others say, but whatever, it's fine. "...Earlier tonight -- that... that could have happened to any of us, Catra. You've fought me as She-Ra. I know how strong you were -- that -- that she could throw you around and beat you down like that, that doesn't say anything about how weak you are. If I'd actually fought her, I'd have probably been laying in the bed next to you getting treated too. I'm just lucky that I was super-focused on keeping you safe -- on making sure you were okay -- when I transformed." Because that moment of loss of control -- not quite berserk, but when She-Ra is acting for her to try to fulfill her desires... it can be a bit rough. Though... that one felt... a bit less... uncontrolled than normal. Hm. Maybe that was something to do with the old Sword of Power? Whatever. "You were angry, not stupid. You were angry and you did something you maybe shouldn't have but I mean... I sure as heck have too! Remember when we pulled that one prank on Shadow Weaver? We both got in /so much trouble/, because I was the ringleader on that one." She keeps hold of that hand. "And if you were the most useless villain ever, what the heck does that say about me considering the last thing I remember happening when we were on Etheria is /you capturing me/. Not to mention the fact that we struggled against the Horde, while you were half the time leading the operations we were trying to stop. It wasn't a numbers thing either, because technically, even though a lot of Etherians were more peaceloving, we had kind of a number's advnatage most of the time and we /still struggled/ against you and your teams." When Setsuna reveals the preloaded needles, Adora takes a slightly firmer hold of Catra's hand, once more doing her best to be reassuring, smiling towards Catra. "Don't worry, Nurse Meiou is a good person -- she's with us, she wouldn't hurt one of Usagi's friends." She says quietly. Mostly trying her best to not distract the nurse too much. She has a small pokey instrument in her hands. |
| Catra | "That's... because I was a good tactician," Catra grumbles. "I didn't need the numbers. I had trained soldiers against your pacifist rabble and I knew what I was doing. Why do you think I almost conquered Brightmoon?" She sighs, and shakes her head. "I would've got it too... but..." She shrugs. "Maybe it's better I Didn't. I don't know. But I guess I was on the wrong side... Not... that I thought I was at the time." Catra falls silent, and just lies still while Setsuna checks her over. And, slowly, as she lies there, the throbbing in her legs goes down. It's still horrible of course, but it's getting bet-- "Ow," she mutters flatly as she gets poked in the knee. But, she doesn't flinch; it's just a pinch. It's not like she hasn't been hurt worse before. As evidenced by, y'know, broken knees a little over an hour ago. "I didn't mean to cut her hair," she mutters. "I was just going for the door. I *did* want to pick a fight, that was the whole plan, 'cause of what she said to me and I wanted to kick her ass really badly. Instead I just got beaten into the dirt and left with ''my'' hair cut and my knees broken." She pauses. "I don't care about my hair." As she waits for Setsuna to go for her other knee with a needle, she looks up at Adora. "Anyway, it... it doens't matter. About Etheria, I mean. ''Here'' I was a terrible villain. On Etheria I took down Shadow Weaver and I was working up to taking down Hordak too, and I didn't even have magic then. I am ''so much stronger'' here but what do I have to show for it? I got pushd around by Joker and kicked out of Obsidian. That's all I've ever accomplished. I was never better than a low level go-getter and wasn't even very good at that." She tilts her head to look up at Adora. "Why do you even want me around? I'm clearly good for absolutely nothing. All I do is hurt people, I've never been anything but a nasty little monster." And then there's talk of setting her up in a dorm room, and her ears flatten out. "But... I don't... ''why''? I ''FOUGHT AGAINST ALL OF YOU''. I tried to hurt you. I tried to hurt the people you care about. Why are you helping me all of a sudden?" The feline pauses, looking down towrds her feet overtop of herself. "I mean... don't stop," she mumbles. "Just... Obsidian would never be this nice to ''you''. We were trying to win at almost any cost. I ''shot someone with a pureheart rifle''. ...I mean I gave her crystal back before hse died but... but still. I did it." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou takes a few moments, examining Catra's reaction to the injection...as soon as she's certain the reaction was a reduction of pain and not a sudden bout of anaphylaxis, she uses the needle again, this time dumping the full load of local into Catra's left knee, then switching over and using a fresh needle to dump a full load into her right one, "...alright. Let me know when the pain has abated and I'll make sure everything's in the right places, then we can get you properly set up with some braces. Fortunately, you should only have to deal with it for a few days until we can get one of our healers to give you another pass." She puts the needles away, "...once they've done that, I'll suggest you wear the braces for another couple of days as a precaution, but you should be mostly fine after that." While she waits for the drugs to fully kick in, the nurse absently takes some vitals from Catra, checking pulse, 02 levels, checking pupil response, looking in ears, etc, "...as far as the other goes? Honey, you're not the first person who we've fought against that we've given a helping hand to. You're not even the fifth. It's kind of a thing for us, here." She pauses, then a frown crosses her face, "...that being said, once we're done here, we're all going to get something to eat. You, Miss Catra are going to need the food to heal. You, Miss Rainbowfist, just got out of a fight and I find it quite likely that you won't turn down dinner..." She then sighs, "...and *I* ended up having to skip lunch today, so I'm famished." |
| Adora Rainbowfist | "Wow, that really sounds like the words of a failure of a villain." Adora responds, her tone ever so slightly playfully sarcastic about that first bit. "Here... I can't honestly say as much about, I feel like I arrived... at the end of that from the portal, so it's ... kind of been a bit of whiplash for me but... it's... not bad." She says softly. "...Well... clearly you don't need Obsidian, then, if they couldn't see your worth. That's their loss." She says with a simple nod towards Catra. "And... honestly... like..." She pauses. "...I think you didn't do it because your heart wasn't into it. If your heart had been in it, you'd have probably been just as much of a trouble for everyone here as you had been for us, but, well. I don't know what all happened, but... from what I heard, you went out of your way to save someone. You went out of your way not to hurt anyone... too badly. You gave /warning/ before coming to assassinate someone." She gives a small smile. "...You weren't really kicked out of Obsidian, they just helped expedite the fact you were already leaving on your own. Because, really... at the end of the day... you're not a bad person. You never were, even if you thought you were." Adora's hands are staying on Catra's, holding it. "And, really... ...you're my childhood friend. ...I... don't... really need any other reason? You're Catra. That's enough." Pause. "Also like you said, you gave the crystal back before she died. This is exactly the reason why we helped you. Because... whatever happened before I got here, you decided to be better. You decided to do at least one good thing." "And sometimes, that's enough." Setsuna continues the treatment, gives medical directions, and she has to try hard to stifle a snicker at the thought of trying to get Catra to get leg/knee braces. "...Yeah she'll be out of those braces in record time, Catra's always been really tough." She grins. And then Setsuna talks about her just getting out of the fight. "I... uh.... won't say no but honestly I did basically nothing in that fight, I only even was able to transform because i was panicking and worried that Catra wouldn't be able to walk again and that I needed to get her to safety -- to you -- to get healing -- and, well. Then New Moon just. Left. And so... like. Yeah. Uhm." Pause. "...Food's still good though." |
| Catra | "I'm an obligate carnivore," Catra mutters at the mention of food. "I ''have'' to eat meat or I'll get... I mean I'll just get hungry and angry and my stomach will hurt." is it possible that Setsuna could have figured out that on her own? Given that Catra is, as her Etherian name suggests, a cat? Probably, but does Catra leave these things to chance? No. She's not about to risk a plate full of broccoli. "Yeah I did all those things," she mumbles. "But like... I didn't save Chibiusa when I needed to. I let everyone down. I'm a failed villain and a failed hero and I don't know how I fix that when I can't even seem to hold my own in a fight againt ''one'' villain, Mistress 9 handled me like I was nothing, New Moon handled me like I was garbage, and I can't even touch Joker, so what use am I to anyone about anything? I'm just a... just..." But Adora was busy telling her exactly the opposite. She puts her hands over her face again, but can't quite hide a tear rolling down each cheek. This is not helping her tough bad-girl image. Which only makes her feel worse. "Not as tough as you think," she mutters. Nevertheless, it seems like the pain in her knees is slowly decreasing... and by and large, the rest of her seems okay. Her hair is shorter and her legs are purple, but she's extremely healthy. Apparently she eats really well and takes care of herself; she's obviously very athletic, and has much better musculature than most people her age. "How do you know I'll... You know what, nevermind, I'll have to join your side 'cause Obsidian will never take me back." She pauses. "I'm not giving up my sword though. That other girl can get stuffed. I need it to protect myself." Which, turned out so well today. Also she has claws and a Rune Stone but neither of those are a sword now, are they? "If we're going to eat, can we go somewhere close? I Don't... feel up to going far." "I feel so stupid," she mumbles. "I'm ''supposed'' to be good at this stuff and look at me." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou gives Catra a brief look at the comment about the younger woman's necessary diet, "I figured as much, but wasn't going to make assumptions." She then nods, "Obligate carnivore. That means a meat-heavy diet with some greens or vegetables here and there as needed as roughage or to smooth digestion. Shellfish is a possible allergen." As Catra goes on about who she's lost to, Nurse Meiou rolls her eyes, but decides to leave the pep talking to someone who knows Catra better. In the meantime, she does an examination of Catra's knees, making sure everyhthing is in it's proper place and nothing got healed wrong. After assuring herself of that, she goes back to her supply cabinet and comes in with a pair of heavy-duty velcro-strap knee braces. The kind that attatch firmly above and below the knee and have a hinged metal bar on either side so that one can move without putting any strain on the knee itself, "Once we get these on you, you should be alright for the day or two you'll need until we can get you fully healed, and they'll let you be mostly mobile on your own...though I recommend getting a friend to help if you have any distance to cover...mostly just to help you navigate a little here and there." Sitting down, the nurse shrugs a little, "...and there's a place I'd been meaning to go back to lately that's a mile or two from here...and I don't mind driving us there at all. Or I can get us delivery and we can all do that some other time. I promised Miss Rainbowfist here that I'd show her some of the many cusines we have here on Earth, and I'm afraid I'm rather overdue for the next one...the taco stand was some time ago as I recall." |
| Adora Rainbowfist | "Eh, we're not all always tough. I'm just talking about physical toughness. You've always kept up with me, after all. I'm... terrible at the rest of that stuff so just going to choose not to talk that much about it, but I mean. You fought She-Ra in physical combat all the time and even if we were both holding back that's pretty impressive all the time." Aaaand ... Catra talks about how she hasn't really... been able to fight any of the villains alone. She blinks. And she tilts her head. "...Uhm." "...None of us could probably handle any of those people alone. I mean. Rocket Girl's attacks weren't doing anything, Saturn's attacks weren't faring much better. You, Catra? You're the one who technically did the most damage to her, you were technically the most effective person in that fight last night. You managed to scratch her with your claws. So... like... I don't know really what to say." Adora really doesn't, frankly with all of the talking and thinking she's already been doing tonight, one might be seeing a little bit of steam coming out of her ears. "Anyway... about the sides thing... like... I don't know. You don't have to join us, but being away from Obsidian is probably for the best anyway. I mean, a bunch of the people in it are jerks." ... Like Catra! ... Wait. Wait no that's the opposite of the point here. Ugh. Setsuna brings out the brace to attach to Catra's knees, which Adora watches. So the healing in this world is kind of like the Horde healing is. Okay. At least it's probably something reasonably familiar, right? "You can text me if you need to go anywhere particularly far. Or Rashmi. Or ..." Pause. Not Usagi right now. Hm. "...Or uhm... oh Hinoiri would probably help too. Do you want to borrow Swiftwind? You could borrow Swiftwind." Don't borrow Swiftwind. Though /riding/ swiftwind might be more pleasant than walking still? Hmmmmm. Catra riding Swiftwind. Now that's an interesting thought. Adora's thoughts go to people riding on swiftwind and how they might look and she's distracted a half moment. Before her name is mentioned and she goes. "Huhwha? Oh. Uh. I can carry her even not-She-Ra too so it should be fine either way if it's only to your car." Ahem. Focus, Adora. Focus. |
| Catra | "Shellfish are a wha--?" Catra's brow furrows, "Oh, you mean like... clams and oysters and stuff. I... haven't tried them yet." her cheeks redden a little, "I know I've been here long enough to, I just... fish is so ''good''. I just never got around to it. ...I've never tried a taco either, I don't even know what that is." And then Adora tells her she was the most effective person in the fight that left her knees in this state, and she almost throws up her hands, before remembering not to make that sudden movement. "The fight wouldn't have ''happened'' if I hadn't picked it," she grumbles. "But I did 'cause she said something that pissed me off and I couldn't let it go 'cause she reminded me of how Shadow Weaver used to treat me and I just... I couldn't let that just ''slide'' I needed to make her understand why I was angry. ...Sure did a great job of teaching her a lesson." "And I am not borrowing Swiftwind unless you get him to take a vow of silence first." Catra glances Setsuna's direction, and watches her put the braces on, one after hte other -- at least partly so she can see how it's done in case she needs to put them back on herself at some point. "How do those actually work?" she asks. "And... if we're going out someplace to eat, uhm... I have no preference. As long as they aren't some vegan place. The only places I really know are the ones in like, the industrial quarter or the poor end of town, I hang out there a lot. ...Just... I just do." Because those places remind her of the Fright Zone. "I can eat non-meat stuff, I just... it needs to be a lot of meat. I dunno how the Horde made it work with the grey kind and the brown kind. No idea what was in those except I had no idea how gross they were until I got to try something else." |
| Setsuna Meiou | When she notices Catra paying close attention, Nurse Meiou helpfully gives direction...pointing to indicated places as needed , "Okay, the brace wraps around your leg here, above the knee and here, below it. You'll be able to easily figure out where by centering the hinge in the center on a spot just a little bit below your kneecap. Once you've got it in place, snug the velco securely around your leg above and below. You'll want to secure it fairly tight, just don't cut off your circulation. Once it's in place, the metal brace on either side of your knee will take your weight when you put it on that leg instead of your knee, giving it time to heal. This way you don't have to be bed-ridden to keep from putting strain on your injured knees. You can use this little switch here on the side to lock it in place so that you can sit down without your legs sticking straight out or to otherwise arrange yourself comfortably." She then starts cleaning up, putting things away, "...I've to some packets of muscle relaxers here for you to take and another bottle of painkillers. Both are for later this evening or maybe tomorrow, but with the braces helping you keep the strain off your knees, hopefully you won't need much of them before we can get Saturn or Mask to heal you the rest of the way in a day or so. In the meantime, there's directons on the packaging." Once the place is mostly cleaned up, she waves towards the door, "Now, Miss Rainbowfist, if you'll be so kind as to help Miss Catra until she's got the hang of walking with stiff legs, I can take us to a place I like called the Kumachan Onsen." |
| Adora Rainbowfist | "Yeah, and? ...You messed up. You made a mistake. You already got your punishment." Adora responds, gesturing at Catra's knees. "Why the heck are you punishing yourself more? You should be going 'ow why the heck did she decide that breaking my knees was the appropriate response' like seriously who does that. Knees are sacred." ... Catra suggests Swiftwind takes a vow of silence. "..." Adora goes 'pfft.' "Hahahahahahahahaha that's a good one Catra." "...That's impossible." Seriously she's tried to get him to be quiet while she was studying once. He was silent a whole three seconds and she had to make him go play outside. She's pretty sure that several horses were 'liberated' that day. She tries not to think about it. Adora kind of goes quiet as Setsuna starts her explanation of how the brace works. Yep, about what she expected. It wasn't that far from Horde first aid, which she'd paid a bit more attention to than Catra. Did she /understand/ half of it? Debatable. But she paid more attention to. At the prompt to help Catra, she offered her shoulder to her. There wasn't any mocking, not teasing, she just was going to help her. "...Yep. I've got her." Once Catra was standing, she actually watched how she reacted for a few moments as she quietly judged the balance of where the best balance of letting-her-put-weight-on-it and pain seemed to meet, and put ~just~ enough strength into things to ensure she was just out of the pain threshhold. "Ooh. Is it like, a mixed food and bathhouse place? That might be nice for her knees..." Especially if it's like one of those ones that's supposed to be good for people's backs and stuff. |
| Catra | Catra puts a hand on Adora's shoulder, and allows herself to be pulled back up to her feet. Her muscles all tense up, expecting nothing but sheer agony to lance all the way up her legs to the top of her skull, but when that doesn't happen she breaths out a sigh of relief and carefully allows herself to relax. "Okay these... brace things are pretty good," she admits. "Well. Them and the painkillers. I think I can sort-of walk." She gulps a breath, and lets her muscles just kind of deflate. She can be free from pain for a little while, at least, until the painkillers wear off and she has to tkae some more, however long that takes. "Wait, an Onsen? That's one of those hot spring places, right?" She mmmmms, as an extremely worried look crosses over her face, "Okay look, I don't usually do water, I hate it, but I... guess it'd be good for my knees but we need to stop somewhere I can get a bathing suit first. I don't own one." She pauses. "For obvious reasons." She shrugs, "I wouldn't normally go for it but... Okay look just as long as I don't have to get my head wet. I refuse to do that." Catra falls silent as she walks with Adora, though there's clearly something going on in her mind. The gears couldn't be any more painfully obvious if they were literally real. "...Thanks," she mumbles at last. |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou leads the two out of the infirmary, locking up as she does and then out to the parking lot, where her car (a Nissan Rogue) waits. It's reasonably roomy so passenger space isn't a problem, and it sits high enough that it's easy for impaired movement to get into. As Setsuna (she's not Nurse Meiou off the clock, after all) waits for everyone to get secured, she covers a giggle with a hand, "Despite the name, it's not ACTUALLY a hot springs. It's what's called 'hot pot'." As the place is only about a mile or so as the mahou flies, it's a fairly short trip, and Setsuna is soon leading the other two young women into the 'Kumachan Onsen' As she said, it's a bear-themed hot pot resturaunt that gets it's name by serving the cooking broth in bowls with the broth frozen into teddy bear shapes that melt to become the broth once heat is applied...which at about the midway point looks like a bear soaking in a hot spring. Thus, the name. As everyone is seated, she points out for the other two, "So you pick your broth and a starting platter of ingredients. They bring it to you, and once the broth is nice and hot, you use your chopsticks to put the meat or veggies into the broth and let them cook for however long is needed, usually only a minute or two, then eat it. There's a wide variety of things to try, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, fish and some veggies for flavor. Mix and match, try different things, and there's a little robot with a touchscreen that comes by every few minutes that lets you order more ingredients if you need." |
| Adora Rainbowfist | "I think they have little caps to protect your hair and ears." Adora comments towards Catra. Which would probably be /really adorable/ to see Catra wearing. Well anyway. Once Catra has good hold of her, and her arm is wrapped around her securely, and she seems fine... the walk goes from tentative, to a more comfortable pace. Still taking it slow and gingerly and supporting a good amount of Catra's weight. Catra thanks her. "You're welcome." ...No need to make a big deal of it. That's just what friends do. And soon they're in a car! "Oh. That's. Actually slightly disappointing." Maybe they can go after or something. There should still be one open pretty late, right? Anyway. That wasn't what they were doing /now/ anyway. And... and it's a bear-themed hotpot. And the broth is... frozen into teddy bears that melt to become the soup. That's. "They're so adorable, oh my gosh." Wait so you just. Do broth, get meat and veggies, cook in the broth. Huuh. ...She starts to order relatively quickly. ...Honestly her and Catra's order are probably going to end up similarly. She, too, eats a lot of meat. But she does add in some veggies too. |
| Catra | By the time Catra is seated in the restaurant, she breathes a quiet sigh of relief. ...She's sitting, again, with her weight off her knees (and can stop worrying about how tough she'll have to pretend to be if the hurting comes back like it was before). She takes about a minute to simply appreciate that fact, until she finally refocuses her mind on where she is and what she's supposed to be doing, and takes a look down at the menu. Veggies are whatever but even she needs to eat something green from time to time, much as she hates to admit it, so whatever. There are things that count as vegetables that don't offend her. (Shoots are entirely out of the question, so gross.) Eventually, she manages to pick something, after about thirty seconds of listening to her stomach make its demands. A fishy-sounding broth gets ordered, along with a bunch of shrimp and tuna and salmon. May as well just... generally treat herself to what she likes. Keep it simple for now. And then Catra just sits there quietly, looking back and forth between Setsuna and Adora. Almost like she's expecting something to happen. What could she possibly be expecting? "Isn't this... like... weird for anyone?" she asks at last. "We've spent so long fighting and now we're just... having dinner." A pause. "Well it's... weird for me anyway." But she didn't say it was bad. |
| Setsuna Meiou | Setsuna, as she has said, has been here several times in the past, so she is able to navigate the menu fairly quickly, and orders a bonito broth bear with a steak plate and some assorted veggies along with a coke. The waitstaff is efficient, so it's not long before the bears are brought out and set in the little metal bowls fastened to the tables and the elements within are turned on along with drinks, and the waitress explains the food order will be brought out in a short while so that it doesn't thaw too much while waiting for the broth to be ready. Then she's gone and Setsuna smiles a little at the other two. She keeps her voice pitched a bit low so that it doesn't carry much beyond the table, "Oh, having dinner with someone I fought isn't the strangest thing I've done even this year." She shrugs, "Though I do understand that, yeah...it's likely to come off a little strange...but then again, from what I am given to understand, 'strange, wierd, and often frankly impossible' is just kinda the way things are around here. My personal guess is that our reality is the relief valve for all the spacetime 'wierd' in the local universal cluster." |
| Adora Rainbowfist | Well, okay, maybe Adora doesn't get very similar to Catra. She gets less fish dishes and more along the lines of a pork and beef style bowl, with a reasonable helping of veggies in a beef bone broth. She absolutely definitely wasn't planning on trading with Catra. Nope, not at all. Adora does pause, considering Catra's comment on the oddity of the situation. Adora gives a look towards Catra for a few moments, not a bad one, mostly she just... seems to be... thinking? "...Maybe a little. But, well. You were hurt, so I took you to where the hurt could be helped and now you need food to help heal the rest of the way." Is Adora's eventual response, deciding to focus on the more pragmatic side of things. "...So... I mean. ...It kind of just feels like the right thing to do?" Plus the /other/ plethora of very confusing feelings she has towards Catra considering everything the two have been through but /those/ are currently not what's important right now. Especially since waitstaff was showing up and bringing them their little bears and talking to them about stuff. "Well the other thing is... even if you maybe were fighting us before..." She shrugs slightly. "You're not anymore. Or if you are, it's less actively so like... eh. Weird or not." She leans a little against the table, resting her cheek in her hand as she seems to think on all of that quietly for a while. |
| Catra | "Well I kinda of don't have a choice," Catra replies dryly. "Ever since I got myself kicked out of Obsidian I kind of need ''someone'' I can hang out with. ...Being at the Academy is... really unexpected though." The feline rests her elbows on the table, forms a cradle out of her hands, and deposts her chin on it as she stares at the bowl, watching it heat up in preparation for the bear it's going to melt into broth; and even being stuck wearing her disguise again, as she has to be here, Adora at least could probably sense the flattened out nature of her real ears. "I could make this happen faster," she mumbles. "I might not be all that... good with the Spirit Ember yet, but I could definitely make these bowls white hot in half a second. ''That'' I can do." Catra remains settled where she is, "I never expected to have magic either, and ''that's'' also weird. And I still know how to use dark energy, even if I'm... not doing, anymore. It's... not compatible with the Spirit Ember." The cat glances sideways at Adora, "And don't worry, the Spirit Ember is from Etheria, so you're still the Princess of Power and all that, I'd still have to be smarter than you to beat you." She elbows Adora in the ribs, "Which I am." She tilts her heat the other way, and qurrks an eyebrow upwards. "This world's a relief valve? ...Well it's doing a terrible job of it, I dunno anyone who's gotten 'relief' in a long time. I'm pretty sure Rashmi's going to stress herself into an early grave by worrying about everyone else and not thinking about herself enough. And everything else is screwed up. And has anyone seen Glimmer?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | Setsuna gives Catra a bit of a look for a moment before shaking her head, "Not that kind of relief." She pauses, then shrugs, "Well, not EXACTLY. It's more the opposite. We're where all the excess wierd stuff that would have been in all the OTHER universes ends up." After a moment, she waves a hand absently, "Not that most of the people from around here really notice, even the ones who ARE magic-aware. To us, it's just normal. Rashmi's boyfreind, however, isn't from this spacetime cluster and he was in a rather constant state of disbelief for a good month or two after he arrived." The older woman absently pokes her melting bear a little with a chopstick, "He eventually acclimatized. As for the rest? Well, it's better to have friends than enemies...and as long as Adora-chan and Rashmi are willing to vouch for you, I don't have any problems with you, Catra-san." |
| Adora Rainbowfist | "Everyone has a choice, Catra. And... you've been making... pretty good ones, I think." Adora replies to Catra. "...Enough that I've had to start questioning some of my own choices. And you know how hard /that/ is." Adora actually sticks her tongue out at Catra on that comment. Her staring at the bear gets a bit of a look from Adora. "I don't think it's supposed to go super quick yet... probably to give them time to bring out the meats and stuff since I think we cook them in the broth once it starts to melt." Adora says curiously, her head tilting. Comments about magic and how the SPirit Ember is from Etheria and she's elbowed. Adora actually gives a bit of a blink. "...The Spirit Ember is ... not from Etheria, I don't think, the only one we were missing before was Scorpia's ..." Which is probably for the best that not everyone had shown up yet, there might have been Yet Another Apocalypse, this one with Adora at its center and frankly very few people want Adora at the center of an apocalypse because she's enough trouble not being the center of one. Also the fact Scorpia is a princess of power with lightning powers is kind of neat and weird to think about. But hey, whatever. Besides the point. Adora is mostly just watching her own bear melt down, watching as it shifts around a little, slowly melting into the water. "...Setsuna is this supposed to be cute or something?" Honestly it kind of looks dark to her. The bear slowly melting down into the broth. She fairly pointedly doesn't really comment on if she vouches for Catra or not. She's still got mixed feelings on that. |
| Catra | "It's cute. Of course it's cute. Everything on this planet is at least ''trying'' to be cute until it's not," Catra points out. "Anyway it's... not actually a teddy bear, and I don't think you're supposed to feel bad about eating it. Plus it can't possibly be worse than the Brown Kind." Oh god the Brown Kind. "And I know what you meant, I was just... deliberately choosing to not know," she mutters. "Maybe I just don't like to think about it that way. Makes me feel weird about why I'm here and I don't like that." Catra continues to watch her bear slowly turn into a probably delicious bowl of undiferentiated goo, all while somehow having managed not to jam her earbuds in her ears yet, which might also be a small victory in and of itself. "The Spirit Ember is totally from Etheria," she asserts. "In that temple where I had to do the last trial, they showed me. The fire cats I mean. There used to be a whole fire kingdom, but the last fire princess went crazy-shaped and turned the whole place into a volcano." Catra pauses. "Which I'm trying real hard not to repeat." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Sensing that for the moment, Catra and Adora have things to work out, Setsuna just sits back a little and doesn't bother the two. For the moment, she's content to listen. And eat. Which is facilitated by a little robot rolling over to the table with a face that's a touchscreen and a plate with each person's order on it. Since the two younger women are busy talking, Setsuna reaches over, picks the orders off the tray and deposits them next to everyone, then hits the button letting the robot know she has the orders and it bustles off to the back of the house again. Once her bear is sufficiently melted and her broth starts to lightly simmer, she uses some chopsticks to pick up some of the various meats from her tray (which all come very slightly frozen but cook VERY quickly). She points out the little chart for the other two built into the table that indicates the proper cooking time for each of the various kinds of meat, then starts dumping ingredients in her hot pot, adding some meat, some bok choy, and some noodles and waiting a few minutes for them to cook. |
| Adora Rainbowfist | "I guess." Adora says, watching the bear slowly melt down into the broth, which was starting to simmer as well. Unfortunately for both her, Catra, and Setsuna... ...Talking things out and working things out is neither of their strong suit, which is what leads to Adora more or less just kind of ... not entirely dropping the subject but just quietly starting to work on her own food instead, starting the cooking of her pork-and-beef combo, which she does, however, go out of her way to slip a piece or two into Catra's plate. When she's not looking of course. Adora does /eventually/ speak. "...I'm sure you won't turn things into a volcano. And if you do, well... we already lived basically in one for a while." She says, thinking of that massive forge in the Fright Zone. She's back to quietly focusing on eating now though. Words are hard. |
| Catra | A piece each of shrimp, salmon, and tuna all find their way into Adora's bowl. How did they get there? Nobody knows. "Well if it's any reassurance I'm not nearly strong enough to turn Tokyo into a volcano even if I wanted to," she mumbles. "I didn't get to train with my runestone from birth like Glimmer or get the one that turns you into She-Ra, so I've got a lot of work to do and ''believe me'' I am trying." She pauses. "...To learn how to use it without awakening a volcano, I mean." Another pause. "Isn't Mount Fuji a dormant volcano? That feels... relevant." The feline glances Setsunda's way, partly to check on what she's doing with her food and gauge wether or not she's doing it right. Ultimately, she decides she's doing it right enough that it's fine. "We're always like this," she adds, helpfully. "Except when we're on opposite sides and then there's a lot more punching." |
| Setsuna Meiou | When Catra asks about Mt Fuji, Setsuna pauses for a moment, "That largely depends on how you define 'active'. For practical purposes, the answer is 'no', as the last eruption was about 300 years ago. However, it HAS erupted in the last 10,000 years, so it's technically considered 'active', and it DOES have an active magma chamber beneath it...so it's pretty heavily monitored...and if it were in actual danger of erupting, I know a few people who can probably do something about it." The surreptious sharing back and forth between the two is noted, but not commented on...beyond a knowing little smile. Setsuna then takes another moment to note, "...if you want to do some heavy-duty practice, let me know. I know of a few places where you can go where there's not a lot that's flammable around to accidentally set on fire." |
| Catra | Catra takes her chopsticks and fishes about in her broth for what is, by now, a nicely cooked shrimp. Which she confirms by eating it, and of coruse, it's delicious. The food really is the best part about this planet. "So much better than Horde food," she mumbles, perhaps not even realizing that she's vocalizing that outside of her head. She glances sideways at Adora, "And, uhm, no it hasn't gotten old yet." "Somewhere I can practice without accidentally burning down like... stuff," Catra replies to Setsuna, "Yeah that'd be great. ...I bet Adora will even have some dumb ideas masquerading as pointers," she adds, once again elbowing the blonde in the ribs. Albeit, not hard. And then it's time to eat. Like any other predaotr with her food, Catra just kind of... goes quiet. It's time to focus on what she's got to put in her stomach. ...The fact that it's delicious doesn't hurt either. |
