| Elodie Vautrin | A week ago, a girl was brought to the infirmary by Amy Faust, Veronica, and Ikiko. She was barely conscious when she arrived, clutching a large, wrapped bundle that looked relatively heavy with her. She was clearly delirious and confused by the time they arrived with her, this blonde girl mumbling distractedly in French. Definitely, definitely not from around here. What's more is that she was injured but where one would expect to find blood and bruising, her face was instead marred and cracked like a porcelain doll struck overly hard, slender lines spidewebbing across cheeks with a dusting of freckle up to an eye, marring it, leaving it to weep an occasional tear -- or is it bleeding -- quicksilver? What's more, to someone such as Setsuna Meiou, the girl in question *reeks* of temporal magic. Not time travelling, per say, but something seems off -- like she's out of synch with the moment somehow. As soon as she was laid down on a bed, she fell into a deep sleep almost immediately, and there she remained. Alive, but exhausted and spent, and definitely not in proper synch with time in some fashion. It could explain why she's not rousable. The same is true for the bundle born with her. Even approaching it will give off two impressions: first, it's magical in and of itself, and two, there's something *wrong* with it. First, there's definitely the same sense of being not in synch with time properly, and then there's that it's just ... *seething* with darkness. Dormant, certainly, and suppressed by the power of the Crystal Heart here on the Academy, but whatever it is, it is clearly dangerous. Very. No wonder the girls who brought her in said she was 'looking for help' and clearly in some kind of danger and distress. |
| Setsuna Meiou | When Elodie was brought into the Infirmary, Nurse Meiou took a single look at the patient brought to her and immediately knew that this was going to be one of those 'above and beyond' efforts. After a quick check to see if the young woman before her has normal, capturable vitals...which may or may not be the case when dealing with someone who's slightly unmoored in Time, has literal cracks in her being and may be leaking...something. That done, she moves on to the next order of business...getting the young woman ensconced in a medical bed and tucked into the back corner of the Infirmary itself, out of immediate sight of the main area and well hidden behind a few layers of rolling walls. From there, it's a quick capture of some of those quicksilver fluids before the Time Guardian gets ready to settle in for what will probably be a bit of a long haul...but not before she fires off a few quick calls home and makes arrangements for the next few days. There's no way she's going to be able to leave until the young woman here is coherent at the least...and there's literally nobody else she's aware of that will be able to handle medical-related Time shenanigans. Fortunately, Nurse Meiou has experience standing a long vigil. Lots and LOTS of experience. ...so very, very much... A short period of concern is had as the nurse realizes that the being before her doesn't use...normal biology...but after a short period of observation, it becomes apparent that however she keeps alive, it has more to do with magic than biology. So all that is left to do, then is wait. It takes very little sensing for the daugher of Chronos to realize that this is someone who was frozen in time but hasn't fully caught up to it's normal flow. Sadly, while the Guardian's abilities to directly manipulate Time itself are, while truly staggering in power, their scope is rather limited...but there is more than one way to solve most problems. So since she can't merely PUSH the frozen girl fully into the normal flow of time...every single diagnostic 'touch' on her is done in a way so as to add just a tiny bit more to her flow...nudging her tiny bit by tiny bit to the critical 1:1 ratio. Sadly, due to such limitations, it's not a quick process as far as realtime goes. |
| Elodie Vautrin | While it is slow, it is something that works. While it is possible, perhaps even likely, she would have reintegrated properly with time with ... time ... Setsuna Meiou being here to observe, oversee and help the effort along both smooths out the process and ensures that there are no unforeseen consequences for anyone else. Always a possibility when one is dealing with such magics, after all. Over time, life starts to return to her, but it's still a long ways to go before she's capable of waking up. ALmost a week, in fact, before she finally, actually, *visibly* draws in a deep breath and sits up in the bed Setsuna has carefully been monitoring in. She's still tired, but she's awake, finally. There's an immediate grasping hand and a paniced shriek and then concerned babbling in French. Welp. She's awake, and staggering out of the bed in question. It took a week of diligent efforts from Setsuna, but she's there. |
| Setsuna Meiou | With only brief exceptions, Nurse Meiou hasn't been more than a few steps away from the bed of the young woman over the last week-ish. Thus it is, when she takes in a huge gasping breath, Nurse Meiou quickly puts down the book she'd been absently reading...apparently the title is 'The Light Fantastic'. Two quick steps bring her over to the bed...and a firm hand is placed to try to keep the patient that has not moved in quite some time from attempting to get up and try to stagger out of bed where she is likely to merely do herself more harm. Perhaps fortunately, however, Nurse Meiou seems to be quite fluent in French, as she responds to the panicked babblings in that selfsame language, "<Miss. You need to calm down. It's good that you're finally awake, but I'm going to need you to relax so that we can make sure you're okay.>" A quick glance is given over at the nearby bundle that had been brought in with her...if she's finally becoming cognizant, it may or may not react as well. |
| Amy Faust | The past few weeks have been... Not good for Amy's schooling; there was traveling to the future apocalypse, coming back to evil Usagi and Chibiusa, more of Seriss's bullshit... And also this girl coming out of a mirror, nearly pursued by evil plants. Anyway, she's not really felt like going out shopping and realized her supplies are running low, so here she is, and while she's here she'll ask how the new girl is doing! "Hey--" Amy starts to greet with a smile and a little wave as she steps in, and then hears ranting in french in a voice she heard a week ago. "She's awake?!" Amy rushes into the back to see, "Hi Setsuna-chan!" she greets briefly, and stares at Elodie. "Oh, dang, you're up. Uhh..." She wants to ask if the girl is okay but assumes Setsuna has already got that covered. She wouldn't be surprised if Setsuna knew every language on Earth and several that aren't. |
| Elodie Vautrin | It does not take much more than Setsuna's calm rebuke to prompt that same reaction. She needs but a moment to compose herself, and then her henshin at long last fades with it. She's still very low on power, after all. Immediately, there are two things one can note about her more mundane self. For one, those cracks have faded into a suspicious pattern of bruising on her face on her right side. She has a black eye. The second is that her clothes are ... woefully ... out of date. Whereas before she was wearing a lovely gown of silvery white, all elegance and class with her hair done up in big drill curls, outside of it ... well ... she's dressed in clothes that look like she stepped straight out of a french version of That Seventies Show, with her hair long and straight and a messy, black leggings and a turtle neck. It's ... painfully seventies. Fashionable, for the day, but ... dated. The sense that she is 'out of place' tends to dominate, and she clutches a golden hairpin in her hands. "<... oh! You speak French. Forgive me.>" Her eyes lock on the bundle for a moment and a vision of palpable relief falls over her visage. "<... Thank you,>" she offers, cautiously, uncertain and on even more uncertain footing. |
| Setsuna Meiou | A glance and brief smile are given to Amy as she enters the partition, and Nurse Meiou effortlessly switiches over to to Japanese as she says, "Greetings, Miss Faust. Normally, I'd be a bit more suspicious about the timing of your arrival, but given the ambient level of magic around here and it's well-documented ability to muck with causality, I'm honestly not all that surprised." A brief shake of her head is given, the she nods at a nearby chair, "Please, have a seat and I'll be with you in just a few minutes." She then turns her attention more fully to Elodie...and an arched eyebrow is given at the obvious de-henshin. At which point, Nurse Meiou calmly reaches over to gently secure one of her wrists to take a pulse as she switches back to French, "That and quite likely any other language you know, so if you have one you're better with than French, feel free to speak in that.>" As she speaks, her voice takes on that slightly authoritative tone of 'Medical Professional with no time for Nonsense', "<You are most welcome, dear. Now, you appear to have rather been put through the wringer, so if you can please tell me your name, where you're from, and what year it is so that I can get a baseline and start getting you feeling better.>" |
| Amy Faust | Amy follows Elodie's calmer words, at least. She looks at Setsuna with slight embarassment, "Uhh... It's just the... I was running low on supplies. I, I can get them if you'd rather I not take your time right now..." She stares in curiousity as Elodie dehenshins. "[Oh... digging the look!]" She compliments in English and smiles, and pink sparkles change her own clothes to what she thinks is a similar style, a similar black turtleneck but with the collar not quite so snug against her skin, baggy green cargo pants (like what she wore computer shopping) and a black beret. She does take a seat back here though. |
| Elodie Vautrin | "<El...Elodie Vautrin," she says after a halting moment. Sorting herself out, it seems. She allows her pulse to be taken, and it certainly *does* feel like she has one. Perhaps it's merely part of her disguise. It's a little slow, to be honest, perhaps uncomfortably for Setsuna's medical instincts, but all the same it's at least a positive sign. She glances back and forth between Amy, recognizing her somewhat from before, before letting her gaze slip back to Setsuna. "<I'm French,>" she tells her, as if this should be obvious as to why French might be her most comfortable language. The change of Amy's clothing and the sparkles she generates thereafter. Her good eye twitches a little with pleased surprised before a look back to Setsuna again. "I am from Paris, and the year was nine teen seventy five last time I checked." "<I know that's no longer the case.>" |
| Setsuna Meiou | Eyebrows are raised a bit at Elodie when she reveals what year she last remembers...but Nurse Meiou's expression immediately softens as Elodie reveals that she's aware that she's no longer in 1975. A glance is given over at Amy as the nurse jumps back to Japanese again, "Miss Faust, the things you'll need are in the usual place, I believe you know where they are...but if you'd like to help out, could you be a dear and step over to that last cabinet over there on the right? If you open it up, there's a little catch on the right side that opens a space set in the wall...if you could, get one of the packages you'll find in there and please get it set up for this young lady...I think she's going to need the assistance and as I recall that should be a rather trivial task for you." Request made, she then turns back to Elodie and flips to French once more, "<Yes, dear. I'm well aware. Nobody except the Quebecois mutters in French while asleep, and your accent is all wrong for that...>" There's a pause as she puts Elodie through a very brief bit of simple diagnostics...checking pupil dilation, capillary response, checking in the ear with a light pen and a bunch of other tiny little diagnostic pokes and prods that should even be familiar to Elodie, as many of them are things that have been common for decades around the world, "<...that all being said, I am Nurse Meiou, this is Miss Faust...and for your fund of knowledge, the current year is Twenty Twenty Five, and you are currently in Tokyo, Japan.>" A slight step is taken back, then she reaches over to a nearby desk and puts one of those digital fingerclips that have become common in recent days that measures pulse and O2 saturation on Elodie's finger, "<...Now, then, I suppose you probably have some questions for us and I know we have some for you...>" |
| Amy Faust | Amy couldn't follow any of what Elodie said after 'thank you'. When Setsuna addresses her, she stands up and moves to the cupboard, stuffing some things into her backpack -- she does ''not'' grab more painkillers -- and then going to the indicated spot and feeling for the catch, stopping to smile and gives a little wave to Elodie when she hears her name, then finds the compartment and her face shows mildly pleased recognition. She dutifully opens the package and makes sure the phone is charged and starts setting it up. "Uhh... what did she say her name is? Spell that?" She adds herself, Ikiko, Veronica, and Nurse Meiou to the contacts, makes sure a proper map app is on there, and translation apps, preprograms the school wifi network, et cetera. When told Elodie's ready, she'll change the language to French and hand it over. |
| Elodie Vautrin | Realizing, it seems, that Amy doesn't speak French (for the second time, it's really okay she's had a heck of a time), Elodie cautiously switches to very accented English as she takes in what Meiou is saying. "Japan? Fifty years, and all the way to Japan?" She is, pehraps, more than a little taken aback, eyes going towards the wrapped bundle. "I followed a ..." She's clearly searching for the right word, "a ... thread. A light. I followed it here in search of help. Could that be you?" A stare towards Amy. She displayed pink sparkles, after all, and Setsuna hardly seems shocked at what she's seen of her so far. She rises to her feet to approach the bundle stashed away on the counter. It's heavy, that bundle, and she lays a hand on it. "I do not detect any darkness in you. Can you, then, be the ones who can help me?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | As Elodie switches over to English, Nurse Meiou does so as well with no apparent effort, "Excellent, Miss Vautrin. I am very glad that you speak English, since it's generally taught as a secondary language in most of Japan and quite certainly here at Radiant Heart Academy...so even in the worst case, you should be able to achieve at least basic communication with the rough majority of the local populace." Another glance is given over at Amy, then a nod before she turns back to Elodie, "...given the kinds of things we've had to deal with in the past year or so, my first instinct would be to say 'Yes', but prudence cautions me to inquire what it is specifically that you need help WITH, first." |
| Amy Faust | Amy taps away at the screen. Setsuna's and her phones get texts simultaneously, three times in a row -- she started a group text with everyone so they'd be able to reach Elodie. ...Although she supposes language will be an issue. At least everyone kind of speaks English... You: This is Elodie's phone so you have the number. You: The girl from the mirror. Ikiko: Noted! :thumbs-up: Amy looks up when Elodie speaks. She nods at 'Japan', then looks confused. "[Fifty years of what?? Oh, are--]" She stops to let Elodie speak. She nods. at 'could that be you'. Her own English is fluent and accented to... somewhere in america. She usually doesn't drop her rs and makes most possible distinctions between words with similar vowel sounds, so she's from... somewhere. "[Everyone you've seen so far can help you. Well, probably.]" She adds, when Setsuna points out the importance of caution. "[This school is... there are a lot of Magical Girls here, if you know what that is? Uh, boys too...]" Amy blinks. "[Wait, are you from fifty years ''ago?'' Damn... Well, in this room you're uh... You're not alone in having stuff going on, when-we're-from wise.]" She grimaces awkwardly but hopeful that that is somehow comforting. |
| Elodie Vautrin | "... I ... yes? Apparently?" says Elodie confusedly to Amy. That's a lot of words and she's struggling to keep up, a little bit. "Yes. I am looking for help with the ..." A beat "... with the magic, yes." She nods, putting a hand to the back of her head. Eyes go towards the bundle. Pulse-ox still on her finger for Setsuna's management notably jumps as she observes it before she turns to Nurse Meiou and Amy again. She takes a steadying breath, hand on the bundle, now, quiet, pensive. Remorseful. "I am sorry," she whispers towards it, then she draws a deep breath in, squares her shoulders, and turns towards them. Despite the redness of her eyes and the bruising on her face, there is a certain regality to her posture, a sense of ... command, yet somehow delicate and brittle. She doesn't know what she's supposed to do with the phone that Amy gave her, so she's just sort of holding it. She sets it on the paper-covered bundle and chokes back a brief sob. "I don't know how to explain. In the moment, you know the words -- they come easily, inevitable like flowers blooming after springs first rain, but then the moment passes, like flowers touched by death's grey fingers." She turns her gaze up towards the ceiling, fat tears rolling down her cheeks as the flourescent lights sting her eyes. Surely it's just that. "I couldn't let their story end like that. I froze them -- myself -- in the moment, and now it's all come undone. I don't even know why, but there was a trail. A trail that led me here. You have to help me save them, help me save her. My sister," a hand lays on the package again, "and her friends. My friends. The Loyal Five." But what trail could *possibly* lead one from Paris to Tokyo? What trail indeed. |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou gently reaches out to lay a hand on Elodie's...just a moment of human contact to remind the other young woman that she is not alone. As she listens to Elodie's explaination and request, the Nurse gives her a somewhat intense look for a moment as thoughts race through her head...and then she finally sighs. While she's got suspicions that she has a few puzzle pieces that Elodie is missing...at the moment all she has for certain is conjecture. A shake of her head is given, as if to clear her thoughts, before Nurse Meiou speaks up again, "I do believe that you are in the right place." A glance is given over at Amy again and a small smile before she turns back to Elodie, "...we've got a rather proven track record of helping and saving people here...but given the temporal shenanigans you came in with and the effort it took to stabilize you in this space-time, anyone who had been trapped with you before probably is quite a bit away from synchronizing into local causality..." There's a brief pause before she realizes her statement might require a bit of clarification and goes on, "...or to put it another way, you've got a bit of time to recover and get your bearings..." The nurse trails off for a moment, however, and looks at the bundle on the counter nearby, "...but perhaps first...what IS that that you brought with you? I really DO NOT like what I'm feeling from it, and judging by your reaction, I get the feeling that it's in some way important." |
| Amy Faust | "[Oh, uh, sorry.]" Amy apologizes, when she realizes she's been speaking too fast. She's astonished that Elodie is suddenly able to say something so poetic. And... she's so sad. Amy steps close to hold out her arms and offer a hug, holding her firmly for a moment if accepted. Then she steps back, wondering much the same as Setsuna. "[This sounds like a lot...]" Right, she tries to slow down her speech somewhat, "[Uh, a lot that you are going through. Others here know that feeling well. Like... three of my friends are turned evil right now. There are things about my background I cannot tell anyone nonmagical here. I did not grow up in this time, but in between this time and yours, but these days it is easier to keep up with, uh,]" she has to rephrase what she's about to say in more accessible words, "[with new generations' slang for reasons you will see. And references. At least some of them. But my point is...]" She approaches again, reaching out a hand to gently touch Elodie's while looking at her intently. "[...That we all have crazy stuff going on and we help eachother. So you are... not the only one dealing with some incredible thing like no one else. We have our unique strange troubles, and we have that in common, and we help eachother.]" She smiles, watching Elodie's face uncertainly, wondering if she managed to be reassuring. |
| Elodie Vautrin | It's not that she's ignoring Amy, it's just that there's too much going on for her to respond to the offered touch and hug. She doesn't reject it. She's just taking in a lot right now. The question as to the nature of the bundle gets a nod. "So you can sense it," she muses to them. "A prison. A place and thing of evil. A reservoir of malignant power that steals your darkest secrets, your pains, your memories, and lets another use it as a source of strength. I.. we... Elise called it the Woundglass, and now she is trapped within it because of me." She lets out a breath, "All of them, twisted and corrupted by its power. They were... seduced by its dark clarity, in the power that is in one's pain, in when one's grief. That our pain is where we find our truer selves. All of them broken, now. They must be saved. I must -- I will -- help them remember who they really are." |
| Setsuna Meiou | At the description of what Elodie has with her, Nurse Meiou gets...a FAR more serious expression on her face. She levels a serious look at the bundle, "Well, then." A finger is tapped on her chin as she continues to stare, "...That DOES strike me as rather the kind of thing that needs to be very seriously sealed away until such time as we're ready and able to deal with it" After a moment more, the nurse sighs, "...at a guess, it's some kind of reflective surface...and one must gaze directly at it?" |
| Amy Faust | Amy nods at 'you can sense it'. The Woundglass. "[Oh. Huh.]" She thinks of her own secrets and pains and fears and memories, feeding the nature of the Witch she may one day become. "[That... sounds awful. As a state to be in, I mean. It may be true that some true parts of ourselves are exposed in pain and desperation... But also there is... what everyone becomes, from enough pain and stress and suffering. A truth in the sense that we'll fight to survive, deprived of food, or air, but no great... how do I put this...]" Amy gestures vaguely. "[That is not ''who'' we are. It is no deep, revelatory truth...]" Amy shakes her head. "[Sorry. I rambled a bit trying to make a point that does not need making.]" She takes a breath. "[Do you have, uh... purifying powers? We have a lot of magical girls that ''do''... although one of them is, uh...]" another awkward grimace. "[Not available, at the moment. In need of purification herself.]" |
| Elodie Vautrin | "No," is the answer to Amy, an immediate and pointed snap-to on the question. "I do not. Elise did, but ... " Her gaze falls away from the bundle after a quiet moment studying her (very 70s) shoes. "It is a mirror, yes," she says, "and within rests the Sovereign Flame bearing the Radiant Crown, with her blade of wickedness and rule," replies Elodie, "and while I can slow her down, I can not stop her from eventually breaking free from within. We are -- mmn. We have time, but the clock is ticking, and I can not say for how long it is wound? So if you wish to seal it away, it must be somewhere safe. Somewhere we will know, should the worst happen. I will place my trust in you. She would." Elodie clasps her hands together in front of her. "And as she can no longer do so, I will in her stead. I -- we? -- we must be ready when that day comes." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou sighs and shakes her head, "Well, we don't have the BEST of facilities at the moment, but for now I can lock it up in one of the unused rooms here. That'll keep for a day or two until I can get help from someone better versed in sealing things away. I think I remember Mister Harlaown mentioning something about having procedures for this sort of thing." She then looks over at Amy, "Miss Faust, if you know of any options anyone else can provide, check on them and come find me in a day or so." A glance is then given towards Elodie, "Miss Vautrin...let's get you settled into one of the dorm rooms so you can get some proper rest. Miss Faust, would you mind terribly helping her with that and maybe getting some real food in the process? I'm going to need to get some documentation run up for her, but I can give you a prepaid card to get some food delivered." |
| Elodie Vautrin | "That would be most helpful, thank you. If you have contacts, associates that can help, I will gladly accept it. I must not do this alone." Her eyes go towards the package again and then, turning to Amy, she holds up the phone. "... and why exactly did you give me a skinny clock?" |
