| Mamoru Chiba | It's a sunny day! A gloriously sunny Friday and school is out and the day is bright and the breeze is cool, and Mamoru is out on the main balcony, leaning in the sliding glass doors toward the kitchen. "Neph! I asked Koji over and I don't know if Zoi knows about Koji's habit of wearing 'Kazuo-sama' in impact font on a t-shirt as his whole expression sometimes, so if Zoi shows can you help run interference?" The prince is in a deep red yukata with pale yellow twisting vine patterns on the borders, for absolutely zero reason, and he's barefoot as he pads back in from the balcony and leaves the door open. For Koji. Who probably won't use it. "Hey did the girls show you the alien food machine yet?" he asks Masato. |
| Nephrite | There's a pause as a can of citrus stops just shy of his sip, and he stares at Mamoru for a good second or two. "That's somehow a lot of information on absolutely zero warning." A slight furrowing of brows, then. "The-- is that the eleven blueberries thing they were talking about?" Masato is still in his tennis clothes, shorts and a neat polo. |
| Koji Silvia | Yes, it is Friday and school is out... but some people are just too busy to really take advantage of those kinds of days until or unless someone drags them into it kicking and screaming. So as Koji comes up the stairs to the apartment front door... not aware of the balcony Mahou Special access, or that it was unlocked for him... since he only used to window of the dorm room on his patrol nights... he's dressed in a deliveryperson's coveralls, with the cap for a local service that delivers ingredients to restaurants. So what does finally knock at the door three times is looks more like it's here to drop off something and get a signature instead of being one of Mamoru's personal invites into his lair. To his credit, he does have his backpack with him, a change of clothes in case he has to call out for shenanigans, and of course... a magical weapon in his pocket that looks like a cellphone. And perhaps to further the confusion, his hair is up and back in a bun, and with the slightly baggy look, he could easily be mistaken for a girl too! And for the second time... *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* ...because why use a doorbell? |
| Mamoru Chiba | "Yeah, that thing! It's in the cabinet next to the fridge, I--" starts Mamoru, about to veer into the kitchen when there's knocking on the door. He veers toward the door instead. "I'm not decent, but I'm dressed!" he calls at the second knock, pulling the door open before the third. His fluffy hair is windblown and he gives Koji a carefree, winning smile. "It was unlocked," he says wryly, stepping aside, then closing the door behind Koji and leading him through a ''second'' doorway, the door itself with a big stained glass panel in it. Once they're through that, there's the vast living area, with all antique or used furniture with varying levels of grandeur and comfort, solid and sturdy. There's an immense mirror taking up a wall, framed so it looks like a doorway, creating the illusion that the giant apartment has even more space... And there's Masato over there. "I don't know if you guys ever really properly met before -- I tried to keep business and everything associated with it away from Koji, here... so, Koji Silvia, this is Masato Sanjouin my friend and knight, and Masato, this is Koji-kun, my friend who had to put up with his roommate working for Obsidian. Me. I was. I was his roommate working for Obsidian," he repeats unnecessarily, then starts fidgeting. "Anyway I wanted to show you the big TV but I also wanted to show you this thing the girls salvaged from a spaceship that makes ingredients. But I know way less about it than they do, so hm, maybe next time for that." |
| Nephrite | "You? You were working for Obsidian? You? Obsidian? Room mates? I've been rocked to my core." Masato returns dryly, feigning shock and playing along with the repetition. "I'll never recover from this." He took a swig of his drink and nodded, "Koji. Good. Great to meet you." He clicked his tongue. "When and where you born, exactly?" He asked this bluntly, watching him with a certain expectation, as if this were a perfectly normal question. |
| Koji Silvia | From the young man, as he takes off the hat, and then undoes his hair to reveal he really IS a young man, just with Shittennou-grade long raven hair, comes the reply first to Mamoru, "I know me saying this is throwing stones at glass houses... but maybe involving weird alien devices in your life is not the best move? At least until someone has checked it out properly?" At he rubs the back of his neck, Masato's question comes right out of left field, but perhaps proof that his brain is also wired a little weird, he immediately answers, "Nice to meet you too, Masato-san. Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo Medical University Hospital, November 14th, 2009." And without breaking stride he looks around to the TV, and then back to Mamoru, and asks, "Okay, that is a big TV. I mean... that's excessively big. Does Usagi ever let you play anything on it?" |
| Mamoru Chiba | Mamoru shoves Masato's arm and laughs, and then ''oh no lol'' is the expression of growing amused horror as Neph asks Koji for his natal chart and ''Koji answers''. "Oh gods," he laugh-groans, skirting around Nephrite to get himself a pineapple soda. "ANYWAY, someone already checked it out, I think Rashmi? Or Chrono? Someone," he says vaguely as he opens the can and flinches at the pop. His glasses are at least clean. And then ''this''-- Mamoru gives Koji an incredulous look. "Whaaaat? Just because I share things doesn't mean they aren't ''mine''. The remotes and controllers are on that coffee table, and the consoles are in the cabinet next to the TV," he says, talking faster and faster and then-- "Sailor Moon's in trouble! Earth Prism Power, Make Up!" and Tuxedo Kamen teleports out. |
| Nephrite | "Solar Scorpio, Lunar Libran..." Masato considers quietly, seemingly able to plot such arrangements in his head. He pays minimal attention to Mamoru's jostling, or his reaction to the exchange-- this, as far as Masato is concerned, is an integral part of introductions. It's no more of a social oddity than the sudden transformation and departure, surely? When is Sailor Moon not in trouble, really? It had to come up just as often. Sapphire eyes turn to Koji, now left alone with a perfect stranger. Brown brows rise. "It *is* an excessive television, isn't it?" |
| Koji Silvia | Instead of looking surprised at the suddenly vanishing Tuxedo Mask, Koji just puts his hand in his pocket, and shrugs, "No alerts coming in from anyone else, and no weird energy detected... so either..." But he wanders that thought off with a shake of the head, "If they really needed help, we'd know." Turning himself to look at Masato, up and down, assessing him, he then says, "He told me once he grew up in an orphanage, so I suppose it makes sense. Get all those things you could never have when you were a kid. Like this suite... I mean..." he looks around again and back at the stained glass door, and then the huge balcony, and finally back to Masato to add... "I thought I was born in the Year of the Ox, here." |
| Nephrite | A short nod, and Masato pockets a hand into his shorts, letting his his gaze travel to the various fixtures. His own apartment was sparse in comparison, truth be told, though he did have his particular extravagances. "Better an Ox than a Rat." He flashed a small smile. "Either way, I'm taking this as our cue to get well acquainted. I don't know how the alien food machine works. I don't know how half the technology in the apartment works, frankly." |
| Koji Silvia | Moving over to the dining room table, Koji pulls out a chair and settles his backpack to one side on a table leg. Undoing the top of the coverall, he wraps it around his waist, showing off a faded but still visible 'Space Battleship Yamato' t-shirt on under it. Motioning for you to join him, there's an apologetic smile, "Well... when Mamoru makes attempts at trying to get all of his friends to BE friends, we should at least oblige." He then adds, "If you're hungry I can make something, or just bring out some snacks. I cook a lot, even in the dorm, so I've always got something to eat around. Most magical people I know crave sweet, but I prefer savory." |
| Nephrite | "You too, then," Masato admits, taking a step now towards the table and pulling out a chair. "Just earlier this week I was telling Kino how unfamiliar I am with desserts. I bought a few of her mille-feuille from the cafe, to try them, but I'm not certain they were my taste." As he settles, there's an almost stern eye given, "Don't repeat that." Just as quickly, he's at ease again, setting his can upon a coaster. "I've never had to cook much, myself. What do you make?" |
| Koji Silvia | Koji tilts his head, almost like a cat, causing his hair to cascade and shift, a lock flowing over his glasses for a moment that he has to push out of the way, "I... don't know anyone named Kino, so you're safe. And if I do meet someone named Kino, then you can be assured I won't blurt something like that out." The question at least seems to lessen some of the native tension in his shoulders as he rests his arms on the table, "Mostly? Ramen... Onigiri... Croquettes when I can use the fryer outside of the dorm room, Katsu too... Pork and Chicken..." Almost ticking off a list, "Cold noodle salads too. Stuff that goes in a Bento or is just what you need after throwing a lot of..." He pauses again, "What we do... around." Taking his turn, he asks in reply, one finger tapping on the tabletop, "Is there anything I shouldn't do or talk about around you? I know it's a rude question to ask but... you're obviously someone he trusts and likes... and I don't want cause any more friction in his life than I already do." |
| Nephrite | "Right." That's certainly an interesting statement, concerning friction-- immediately Masato is beset by mental images. Mostly Kazuo related, and inclusive of burning bows and an irate Izou spitting like a stepped on cat. "Yes, he does seem to trust and like me, despite all odds." Masato's tongue poked into a cheek briefly, weighing out response. Realistically, his deepest urge surmounted any kind of boundary or sensitivity-- he was all eyes and ears, when it came to the people around his Prince. The possibility of missing out on any useful information from the current network was hardly optimal. "No. I wouldn't say so." He lifted his chin, and smiled in a way that most might consider charming. "Mamoru clearly trusts you as well. And you seem to be an... understanding sort." |
| Koji Silvia | The admission that comes next is one that has a few moments of hesitation, "I had a very hard time in middle-school because of my heritage. When my parents told me I was going to Radiant Heart... which is THE school... I thought I was going to be in for some of the same. Instead... I got paired up with D-... Mamoru. And he was immediately understanding. We were both outcasts in a way, and so we got on very quickly. We just had things we didn't talk about. His work, and my going out late at night. At least... until we had to. He's a genuinely nice person when he can stop and breathe for a moment." Sitting back, he folds his arms into his lap, ducking his eyes from that expressive smile, the light reflecting off his glasses and obscuring them, "Good to know. I mean that I could talk. So..." He finally asks, "Is there something you'd like to know?" |
| Nephrite | There's a very faint tick at the corner of Masato's mouth at the ''D--''. A leg lifts to cross his knee, loosely resting calf there as he settles back into his seat. A short study of the other, and Masato hums. "You don't have some sort of... I don't know. Suspicion of other people who may have had previous ties to Obsidian? Any particular misgivings?" |
| Koji Silvia | An almost rueful smile passes his face as he tilts his head the other way, "You haven't met Rashmi, have you. If you have, you'll learn that she very very gently beats any surface suspicion out of you." But then he brings his hand up and waves it off, "I... there's been a few, but mostly... you stay around people like Usagi, Rashmi, and others... the more you see them willing to see past the bad choices and the hurt that a lot of people who work within Obsidian have. And when they forgive, you're swept along with the tide. Do I worry that they're spies? Sometimes yes. Do I worry if they'll backslide? Of course." His gaze turns to look out the window, "You can't give someone a real second chance by expecting them to fail you. All that means is you're looking for it." |
| Nephrite | A brow ticked upwards and Masato made a considerate face, glancing at the overlarge television. "I'm afraid I've only met Rashmi very briefly, and mostly because I was holding Izou's leash." It was an easily set impression. Incredibly forthright. "I spent a good deal of time away overseas, in fact, to avoid... most of the others." |
| Koji Silvia | Looking like he has no clue who Izou is, like with Kino before, he just nods, and seems to not be concerned that you've witness Rashmi trying to tame a spicy feral. Instead, he asks, "Where did you live? My father is American, but his family is from Brazil. He's always promised me we'd visit one day. I even learned to speak Portrugese. But everyone mistakes it for Spanish." |
| Nephrite | There's a moment where Masato catches the lack of recognition in Koji's eyes, and with some pity, offers a look that suggests he'll likely have the displeasure of meeting Izou soon. But he says nothing more of that. "California." It comes with a small sigh. "My father's got property there, and a new wife. She's from... one of those tornado blown states originally, I can't think of it at the minute." And she's half his age, he doesn't say, but it is perhaps written on his features. |
| Koji Silvia | He whistles and blinks, "Your father has property in California... that's one of the most expensive places to live in the States. Your father must be very well off." And zero mention is made of the mother. Reaching down into his pocket, he somehow brings out a half-can of green tea drink, and cracks it, reaching for a coaster to put it on. It is somehow still cool, beads running down the sides, before he says in surprisingly accentless English, sounding more like someone from the northwest, "If you need help with relearning how to speak here, just let me know. I also read English. It helps when you want to watch movies from overseas with the original actors. " |
| Nephrite | "Yes, my father's... got a very particular lifestyle. He's travelled back and forth for years representing the Sanjouin Group." Sapphire eyes watch a bead of condensation roll down the side of the can, and he refrains from saying anything negative about America or his year in California, in much the same way as he has spared Mamoru and the others. As far as anyone is aware, it was a sunny year abroad, in which he enjoyed tacos and tennis, famous nightclubs, and showrooms full of high end cars. And that is all. "It was very different there. But it's a relief to be back in Tokyo. Thank you." |
| Koji Silvia | Bowing politely to that, Koji is about to say more, when the familiar buzz of a phone in a pocket goes off, and he looks embarrassed, "I should head out. I know Friday is when people are supposed to have fun, but I make good money with this part-time job." There's a guilty note to that as he looks around the space. Standing back up, he picks up his backpack and then his can, conscious of the ring he left behind and wiping it with the sleeve of his uniform. He just sighs, "That is a stupidly big TV. He could have gotten a smaller one and put a bookcase around it." "But don't tell him I said that." |
| Nephrite | A faint snort, and it seems that despite the family wealth, Masato is in full agreement. "Of course. I wouldn't want to get him started." He shifts, moving to stand-- if anything, because it is polite, and because it was Mamoru's guest that he teleported off on. Masato can at least see him of respectfully. "Then again, as his friend... you should keep him humble." He smirks. |
