| Entrapta | "It's a contextual singularity, or it should be once it's active," the voice says in that distinctive nasal tone. The small group gathered at the door, peeking into the janitor's closet (not lab) are all curious, and curiously out of place. "You can do a lot with basic chemicals if you carry the advanced gear with you, but there's a lot more that can be done with the right tools. Someone go steal me a power converter with an eleven-fifteenths scale ratio and a danzium thermometer setup. The whole thing, go on now!" She's teaching interns how to steal, it's so nice! And yes, she's in a closet. Why? No idea. What? Well, right from first glance it seems like she's making friends with the intern crowd. Who? Well, there's only one voice that sounds like that. |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon had been chewing on a donut she'd gotten from somewhere else... When she thought she heard a voice. ... A specific voice. A VERY, VERY SPECIFIC VOICE. A VOICE THAT SHE DID NOT WANT TO EVER HEAR INSIDE THE OBSIDIAN TOWER! She shoved open the door and her eyes were twitching. Not one. Both. Both eyes were twitching. "EntraPTA wHAt aRE you doINg HEre?" she asked, failing to regulate her tone in even the barest sense. "Everyone OUT!" she shrieked, kicking the interns out and then diving forward, hands on Entrapta's shoulders. "Entrapta? Why are you here? How did you get here? Do you have ANY idea how much danger you're in? If someone from Obsidian other than me realizes you're here you could be killed, or worse! Hired!" |
| Entrapta | And you just know that that's what Entrapta is worried about too. No wait, the opposite of that statement. "Bring me back the things I asked for!" she calls out, as interns scatter! it's like it was Scatterday all over again! Wait, you don't have that here? Now you do. "Hello," the purple pinhead says from in her little closet. "Do I know you?" To be fair, she did take quite a while to pin down Glimmer's name wait no that's not what this conversation is going to be about. Tilting her head to the left, the girl (who is apparently disassembling the contents of the closet and pouring it over circuit boards. In a closet.) Entrapta says, "I'm pretty sure people other than you know that I'm here. I mean, there was all those people that you just chased away. And Hawkmoth." Oh, just them. Nobody important! |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon stared at Entrapta. Oh. Ohhhh no. "Yesssssss? Remember... when you came to this world? I took your hand? Teleported you? I was with Bow? I'm the sparkly one? Glimmer? Queen of Brightmoon?" ... "You... you've met Hawkmoth?" "Wait, they know you're here?" "HAWKMOTH KNOWS YOU'RE HERE?!" Finally, it clicked into place. "Oh. Oh by the Moonstone. You're working for Hawkmoth, aren't you?" Glimmer asked. Her internal screaming at the moment could shatter glass. The only reason she wasn't screaming externally was because she didn't have it in her. Her soul was too busy vacating her body. |
| Entrapta | Glimmer's hands on her shoulders shake her a bit, but that doesn't make her spill her chemicals. She just puts them down, work safety a priority. "Oh that. You know, I need to go back eventually. I had experiments that need to be checked on." she says it like it's a trip to the corner store. Like everyone hasn't been trying to get to Etheria since coming here. "But, that's for later. No I don't really work for anyone, though I was looking around. I think the engineering team could use some help, they're really not very good at their jobs. Have you been down to the mech rooms? Fascinating work down there." She has no internal scream, more of an internal yammer? Yeah, that tracks. But she does pause, looking into Glimmer's face. "I'm picking up on something. Tell me if I'm reading this right. You're..agitated, right? I'm not very good at this." |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon took a slow, deep breath. Put her hands together. Then, slowly, she got to her feet. "Okay. Okay okay. Okay. Glimmer. You can do this. Entrapta? You... it... GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" And then grabbed her by the shoulders and SHOOK HER a few times! Then... slowly... "Okay. Entrapta. You... are aware of the timeline... issues, yes? I am from the end of them. I saw how all of this panned out." "I also knew you during this time. I know you're not... evil. I know you're... very often... misguided. You mean well. You may not do well. But you mean well. You ended up joining the Horde before, in my past, your future. You. Are a force of chaos. You are also... very smart. Terrifyingly smart. Possibly the only person I know smarter than Bow... in some ways." "... So I am goin to try and be... very... calm about this... what... do you know... about Obsidian? What do you know about... the people you work for? What do you know about Hawkmoth?" GAHHHHHHHHHHHERTGEBVAREDSGSEDGBG!!! |
| Entrapta | More shaking. Entrapta makes a mental note to ask someone about that. Seems to be important somehow. "Bow?" Mental review. Oh, him. Right. She nods, not tracking entirely but this is, at least, more data. "I saw your note." yes, the note that explained the basics. Yes, she clearly read it. "Have you been drinking coffee? If you have, you might want to switch to decaf." Even the autistic girl can tell that Glimmer is having a day. Must be a lot to handle. "Well. They have really advanced technology, and they're actually letting me see it. They have some really rare magical items, and I'm to be allowed access to them. Seriously do you have any idea how hard it is to get a magical girl to give up her magical tool so I can study it? This place is a treasure trove!" But the pauses, then points to the work she's doing in the closet. "But more importantly, I've found a way to access Etheria magic and I knew I could steal what I needed here, that I can't get back in the school. They have better parts and if I'm ever going to help you in any real way, I need those parts. You need help, even I can tell THAT much." Badump. |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon just eye twitched some more. Switch to decaf. Oh. Ohhhh. She was going to strangle this girl. She opened her mouth, but stopped. And was THIS close to telling the girl she had to go. She had to leave. Had to stop this. She didn't understand what she was getting into. But then... her gaze softened. She'd never been good when it came to Entrapta. The girl had confounded her in a way nobody else could. Sure, Catra and Adora and Bow did, as well. But all of them confounded her in entirely different ways. She reached a hand up to her forehead before she asked the question she was terrified to know the answer for. But she had to ask. And she shoved away the idea of 'stealing' things for now. She could not focus on that at the moment. Perhaps later. "What do you mean help me? Or us? Who... exactly... are you trying to help? And how?" Glimmer asked, struggling to keep her voice even. To be diplomatic. |
| Entrapta | Entrapta sits down. She turns, pushing a bead of chemicals across a circuit board with a small swab, and lets Glimmer catch up mentally. Or that seems to be what she's doing, since she's not rushing Glimmer to her words. When she's asked her questions? Entrapta says, "So far, my work has been based around a global comprehensive understanding of magic. as a whole. The concept has been to examine each form, and to see how they relate to each other." Indicating the 'thing' she's making, she says, "I wasn't able to really do anything with it because I was working within a different framework." Is this answering Glimmer's question? At all? Entrapta seems to think so. "This will let me create a non-physical tool that will let me guide magic into transformation." She looks at Glimmer, then sighs. "I can use it to have one magic become another type. So you can have pure Etheria magic using existing forms. I've seen too many mahou who burnt themselves out, and we could give them energy directly. Save lives, when it matters." Then she mumbles, "and I'll be able to use it to think clearly, for the first time since coming here. I feel like I'm in a fog, all the time." |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon blinked a few times. A LOT of times. None of that made sense to her. "... So... you want to make... magic... from other magic. Right? And you think you can do that. With... Obsidian's tech," she asked. "... Entrapta... you do know that... in general... Obsidian is the bad guys, right?" she asked. "Like, there are some good people here... but a lot of them ARE the kind of people who want to destroy the world, take lives, cause destruction and suffering. Right?" she asked, struggling to keep her voice calm. Wishing she could digest everything else that Entrapta was saying. Head in a fog? Wasn't her head ALWAYS in a fog? |
| Entrapta | "I know I can! Technology isn't anyone's, it belongs to science!" Now that's the Entrapta of old, right there. Slightly insane, halfway unaware of the world around her, and happy to fall down any rabbit hole if it gives more data. She looks confused as Glimmer goes on, then turns her eyes to look to the left. Where an intern is waiting, with a thermometer. It's the wrong type. "I mean, they're never going to be able to actually DO it. Most of them are kind of stupid, if I'm honest." She shoos the guy away, and he backs off. Probably to bring her an abacus or something. "Seriously have you seen the people they hire here? This is not what I'd call a real and serious threat." |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon went quiet the moment that one of the boys were there. Not wanting them to hear this. Then, when he was gone... she shut the door. Welp. Now she was in the closet with Entrapta. Jokes aside, she had a headache. "... Entrapta... some of them are incompetent. A lot of them are. But not. All. Of them. I need you to be careful. There are only a handful of the people here you can actually trust. Riventon is one of the good ones. I think this weird bird thingy who works for an angel. But other than them? Not a lot. And Hawkmoth is NOT someone you can trust. He turned Bow into a monster!" "... Entrapta. What are you going to do if they get a hold of your stuff that IS dangerous?" |
| Entrapta | Entrapta's face is kind of blank; names often go over her head. She scratches her right cheek for a moment, as if having an itch. Or a thought. "I wonder how he did that." Because of course she does, this is a girl who thinks that major disasters are really good statistical collection points. "I don't understand. Everything is dangerous. Do you have any idea what the biggest killer in the world is?" She leans forward, looking at Glimmer. "It's water. The stuff I can get from a tap. If I didn't do anything that was dangerous, I'd never do anything at all." The girl shifts, and a spark comes from her little experiment. She doesn't seem upset. "Nothing that I could possibly do is half as bad as the stuff that humans have been doing every day. This world is terrifying." She pauses, then. And reaches over, turning off the power on her little project. "Still. I don't know this place as well as you do. Maybe I should be listening more, to your experience. What do you think I should do?" |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon blinked a few times. What should SHE do? Following Glimmer's advice? Oh, there was an explosion waiting to happen. Uhhhhh... what could she even say? "... Frankly, I'd say you should leave and never come back. Find a way to do this stuff without like... involving Obsidian." "... But having met you in the past, I know that's unlikely. So... what I would suggest? Is find someone on... the other side. Like... I don't know. Bow, hypothetically. And, subtly, tell them the things you're doing. Share with them your plans, what you're going to do, what's happening. Let them be your guidance. But don't use Bow. But like... I don't know... Try that Sailor Moon girl. She seems smart. Find a good navigator of what's good. And then... trust them. That's what you should do." Outsource your ethics, that was the correct choice. Nevermind the fact she wasn't doing that. |
| Entrapta | "Is that what you're doing?" Instant response, instant pain for Glimmer. Because of course not. But Entrapta is a master of asking questions, if nothing else. Though admittedly she usually asks them of the universe, reality, and physics. "I can do that. I'm not trapped here or anything." That she knows of. Entrapta smiles then, her face crinkling. "I was about to test this, do you want to see it? I think it'll warp reality!" Yes, that's good. No, it isn't safe. Is anything? |
| Dark Glimmer | "Of course!" Glimmer lies. Just flat out lies. She had EVERYTHING under control. And besides, BOW said she was outsourcing everything too much. SO NOW SHE'D SHOW HIM! By outsourcing NOTHING! HA! Truly, her genius impressed even herself at times. Because it certainly wouldn't impress anyone who was paying the least amount of attention. "But... yeah. And don't tell anyone here that you're doing that, obviously. The last thing we need is someone thinking you're disloyal and need to be.... you know..." she mumbled softly. "... Warp... reality... how?" Glimmer asked, inching back towards the door. Oh. Ohhhhh maybe.... maybe she should... go. Away. Now. |
| Entrapta | What, it's not like that's ever happened before. Right? But when she hits the switch, it doesn't work. Which is good, because that means that Entrapta isn't going to be pulled into a dark room and interrogated. But it's bad, because it would have been a help. But it's...good? Bad? What does that even mean anymore? "Eh. I'll ask Rashmi to look at it," Entrapta says. Then packs up, cheerily. "Failure is part of the process, and we learn from those too! Talk to you later!" She's done? Are there people outside, waiting with stolen junk? has she corrupted them into her personal scavengers? Well. She's still young, she'll warp reality later. Always warp reality later. |
| Dark Glimmer | "WAIT DON'T!" But, it was too late. Entrapta already pulled the lever. ACK! NO! WHY?! THEY WERE-- ... Oh. It didn't work. And now her heart was going to explode. "Y-yeah. Rashmi. Rashmi's good. Haven't seen her much myself, but I hear good things. She was exhausted. It had been five minutes in the closet and she was exhausted. She turned, opened the door, and walked away so she didn't die. And then just collapsed into her hammock when she got back into her office. And screamed into her pillow. MANY TIMES. |
