Hinoiri Kirara Hinoiri Kirara had, of course, contacted one of her best friends once she got power, unaware that, well... her friend had done the same. Gotten power, that is. So it was late in the evening when Catra would get a text from Hinoiri. 'Hey, I've got some big news. Meet me over by the old, abandoned part of the city, okay?'

Sure, it wasn't as bad as it had once been, a lot of the dark energy from the region was gone, but people still tended to avoid it. And that was just fine with her, as it meant that there wasn't a lot of better places for people like her and Catra to meet up. She was leaning on her motorcycle, checking her phone, by the time Catra would arrive, a big grin on her face.
Catra Now granted, Catra could just duskport nearby. But she's never been a huge fan of teleporting (largely this is Glimmer's fault) and she has a motorcycle that she really enjoys riding, which honestly is one of the best parts of being here on this planet.

Long story short, Catra is not sneaking up on Hinoiri, who'll likely hear her coming just before she arrives, rolling up on her replcament for the stolen Honda Rebel (which is a legally-ish purchased Honda Rebel). The feline rolls to a stop beside Hinoiri and puts the kickstand down before swinging her leg over hte side. She's not troubling herself with her illusions here, as she retreives a couple bagged up packages from her saddle bags and hands one to Hinoiri.

"Noodles," she explains. "I was hungry."
Hinoiri Kirara Hinoiri Kirara blinked a few times before taking it and... wait.

... Had she eaten anything today? Buck. After all the excitement of getting a henshin recently... oh, wait, no, she had breakfast. So, she supposed, well... "Thanks!" she said, opening and taking a sniff. Ahhhhh, food. "So, how've you been? I figure... well... its been a while since we've caught up, and a lot has happened recently. But something INCREDIBLY major happened recently I figured you'd want to know..." Then blinked. "Just, uhhhhh. Don't tell anyone at Obsidian, okay? You know, same reasons. They'd try to kill me, all of that. Buuuuut... I've got magiiiiiiiiic. Apparently I'm a precure now. You were right, eventually it came to me. Heeeeee."

She started to dig in, absolutely ravenous! And, wellllll....

There were some other things she figured she should let her know about. But that was the most major one and the one that she imagined would garner the biggest reaction. And some others were... painful.
Catra "I won't tell anyone," Catra assures Hinoiri with a raised hand. "...Well nobody at Obsidian anyway, like you said. Rashmi seems pretty safe for some of this kind of stuff. ...Which reminds me, I haven't... told ''her'' yet. But anyway, doesn't matter." Well it does matter, but it can wait for a minute or two. Catra opens her own box of noodles -- hers is very clearly overloaded with chicken, which Hinoiri's is notably devoid of -- and digs in with her chopsticks.

"You've got ''magic'' again?" Catra's ears perk up, and her bi-colored gaze rises from her noodles. "Okay honestly I got no idea what a Precure is -- I never paid attention to the distinctions, everyone gets hurt the same way if you hit 'em with a sword anyway -- but that's..."

Catra is not very good at expressing enthusiasm, particularly when it's for someone else, and the gears on how to be appropriately excited are visibly turning.

"That's ''fantastic''." Well, what? It ''is'' fantastic, right? "So, what can you do? Show me!"
Hinoiri Kirara Hinoiri Kirara was, admittedly, overjoyed to have her share of chicken with Catra's instead of her own. As the vegetarian of the two, it was... well... amazing. To have food... and have magiiiiiiiic.

"Mmmmm hm. And yeah, Rashmi knows. She was there, actually. There was an attack and some of my friends got grabbed by a big octopus youma. I.... rammed a dune buggy loaded with cleaning supplies into it and... it did nothing, annoyingly. But when the youma was about to smash me, apparently it meant I resonated with the mermaid enough to henshin." She closed up her meal before, wellll...

Hinoiri placed her heart kuru ring into her tropical pact and turned it clockwise, causing the pact to open. "Precure! Tropical change!" The pact opened, showing her reflection. She smirked and reached a hand up, putting a pair of shaded glasses on. "Let's make up! Bling!"

"Cheeks!" She tapped her cheeks with the shell brush, causing a little red. "Lips!" She applied the lipstick next. "Eyes!" And she brushed it over them, causing the shades to disappear with a flash and her to get eyeshadow. "Hair!" And there was the animation budget. Her hair erupted into flames, vanishing from her head to become a massive inferno. The inferno then retracted, becoming a strange distorted mass of writhing energy, as if one was staring at a sunset through a portal, and the portal was her hair. "Dress!"

Low heeled boots formed on her feet, fingerless black gloves with a sun emblem on the back of each. Flames erupted from her ankles and rolled up her body, covering her in a black bodysuit up to her chest, then forming a partial coat over her shoulders and arms. Spikes erupted from the wrists and boots a moment later, before a flaming skirt formed, snuffing out to reveal a sun-themed skirt. A small pouch to hold her compact formed at her hip a moment later. She then snapped her fingers three times, each time creating a small spurt of flames, before a definitely wicked grin formed on her lips. "Righteous Indignation! Cure La Licorne!"

And then... She did a little spin. "So, what do you think? Awesome, right?" ... The most notable thing, probably, was the fact... well... that was a LOT of leather. Seriously. She looked like she should be with OBSIDIAN, not with the sparkles. But she looked happy, at least.

"It feels sooooo much different from dark energy. I never would have imagined. So like... the whole... dark energy thing, it always hurts, you know? And then there was Equivalence because... wellllll... I just... never really felt that strong. I thought it was me. But like this?" She shadowboxed a few times. "I feel like I could take on the world! Errr, no offense. Just... it just... feels nice to *be* magical again. A unicorn without magic is like... a cat without teeth, I imagine."

Then blinked. "As an aside, like. Don't worry about hitting me like this. I'm tough, I can take it. And I know Obsidian isn't really... nice, to those who hold back... or those they fire..." she grumbled that bit a bit to the side. Yes, she was still a bit salty about them firing and then almost killing her. Repeatedly.
Catra Catra takes it all in; the lengthy transformation sequence (ahh that's right, Precures are the ones that don't just transform, they visit a fashion saloon before a fight) and the end result of a flaming Hinoiri who's clad in leather and definitely ready for a fight.

"So... wait," Catra begins. "You 'resonated' with a mermaid, which is like a fish person, and got ''fire magic''?" Though her words are incredulous, Catra's tone is one of teasing, not with any of her usual poison in her voice.

"I know all about Obsidian sending people to 'retire' former employees," she adds, "I had to ''heavily imply'' to Rashmi that she needed to protect you, afterall. And then I had to make it look good." She almost throws her hands up in the air, before remembering she's holding noodles and chopsticks, so she eats some of that instead. "And-- I thought I was gonna have to deliberately let them hit me or it was gonna look ''TOO'' good and that wouldn't have been good for anyone. Anyway."

The feline looks Hinoiri up and down once more, and flashes a grin, briefly showing off those very predatory teeth. "I think it's awesome. And I'd rather not have to fight you, but if we do end up on opposite ends of a battle becasue of... stuff, then whatever, you don't have to hold back either. Like at all. ...In fact we might be pretty evenly matched by the time that happens, 'cause..." Catra pauses for a moment, and shrugs her shoulders lightly.

"Turns out, you might not be the only person who got fire magic."
Hinoiri Kirara Cure La Licorne pulled out her own food and started to go to town on it, before snickering. "Yeah, I know. Though, it's weird? I know like, two real mermaids, and a kind of... 'is a mermaid in spirit but not in body' and I think it's THAT one who I resonated with, considering my ring? But like... that's just magic, I guess. It cares more about the spirit than physical. But the girl I got this from, Cure La Mer? She's a real sweety. A few years younger than me, apparently dealing with the witch of delays and all that."

She covered her mouth, barely dampening the burp that came out, face red. "Heh, good noodles. And... thanks. For ummmm... not trying to kill me and all. It was... nice. During a time I felt I had so few friends."

However, as Catra kept going, Hinoiri's eyes just got WIDER. "Wait, you've been learning fire magic? How? I thought you were all about illusions and shadow magic? Since when can you do fire magic? Wait, do you have a flamethrower?" Her eyes slooooooowly glanced towards Catra's motorcycle.
Catra Catra is shovelling her own noodles in, and when Hinoiri asks about ''her'' fire powers, she just pauses for a moment, noodles halfway in her mouth, and shakes her head "Mm-mm." She finishes eating the current mouthful and swallows before shaking her head. "Nope, no flamethrower. Well, not like some stupid army one or anything, I probably ''can'' throw fire around as soon as I get this thing figured out."

The feline shrugs her shoulders, "So on Etheria, there's Runestones, right? Adora has the Sword of Power, Glimmer has the Moonstone, the Black Garnet didn't actually belong to Shadow Weaver but she figured out how to pretend that it did, and like... there's some other ones for water and plant powers and stuff that nobody cares about. Anyway, turns out there's... another one."

Catra shovels in another mouthful and chews it up quickly. "Right, so. There used to be legends I guess, about another Runestone called the Spirit Ember, which were so obscure I'd never even heard of them. But it's real, and it turns out it's... mine. It belongs to me. Apparently always did, I just... didn't know it."

Catra digs into her pocket and pulls out a red stone, small enough to fit in her palm and flickering with internal energies. "So yeah. It butned out all my dark energy when I got it, and it took a few days before I could use it again, and I... don't know if I can use ''both'' yet. Actually I have no idea how this thing works at all. Well, I do, Glimmer gave me a pretty good explaination, I'm just not very good at it yet."
Hinoiri Kirara Cure La Licorne stared at Catra, her mouth just... falling open and she STARED. Just stared. Mind... just... that... she... she was... "You're... magic... holy... that explains so much," Hinoiri said, a hand moving up to grip her chin as she seemed just... lost in thought. As she often did. "So you're magic, okay. That... works. Makes sense. That could also explain why you were so quick. Heh. Maybe that's why Shadowweaver hated you so much, too. Maybe she saw you as a rival, in a way. Someone who had a legitimate claim to a runestone. But... hmmmm... fire. I hadn't thought of you as much of a fire user. I'd have imagined the shadow magic was prime. But maybe that was also influence from birth? If being surrounded by shadow magic and... ugh. Not having cutie marks actually makes this a LOT harder. How do other species understand what they're best at?" she asked, shaking her head.

".... Seriously, though, that's amazing. I'm really proud of you. Maybe after this, we head out, do a bit of sparring practice? If we've both got powers to test and whatnot. Not like we'll need to worry about burning each other, right?" she asked with a light chuckle.

Then blinked. "Oh... I uhhhhhh... guess there is... one other thing I should mention. I uhhhh... well..." She rocked back and forth now, putting her now empty container back in the bag and then on the back of her bike. She'd toss it in a bit. "Double Trouble... broke... up with me..." she mumbled. "It uhhh... happened... a bit ago... right after the... ummmm... portal... back home opened again... Is... it... uhhhh... I mean... this may sound... odd but ummmm... can... I ask you... did... errrr..."

She glanced away and nervously poked her fingers together. "... Is it... weird... to... avoid your room? Once... the person you.... were close to... who lived there... leaves?"
Catra "Believe me, I hadn't thought of myself as a fire user either," Catra answers. "So that makes two of us who are completely confused. I don't think Shadow Weaver was ''that'' well informed, though... I think she disliked me because I was an obstacle between her and Adora and Adora's 'destiny' or whatever. Which turned out to be a steaming pile of..." She trails off, and shakes her head. "Nevermind. Just, it was... yeah whatever."

The feline looks down at the stone, while Hinoiri eventually moves into talking about getting dumped by Double Trouble, and the feline's ears go flat. This is treading on particularly... familiar ground.

Very familiar ground.

"When Adora left to join the Rebellion," she mumbles, "I still had to sleep in the same place. First thing I did was destroy Adora's bed. Just... it felt good. And then when I made Force Captain I never went back there ever again. So... No it's not weird." She looks back up, and shakes her head, "I'd offer to let you sleep in my quarters, but they're in Obsidian Tower, so that's probably not the greatest idea ever. ...Seriously though, ask Rashmi for a solution, she probably knows like, everybody. She's annoying that way but she's helpful to pretty much everything and everyone with a pulse, for some reason I can't fathom but it's... nice."

Catra tucks her Runestone back in her pocket, and leaves her hand in there with it for the moment, absent-mindedly. "DT was dumb enough to dump you, hunh? Well... next time I see her I'm gonna punch her in the jaw. ...As long as you don't mind, that is. Clearly she's not the smartie-pants she thinks she is. But, hey, just means you're free to find someone who's ''worthy'' of you, 'cause she obviously decided she ''is not''."
Hinoiri Kirara "... Good. Sorry. I just... yeah. I... thought about it. I mean, the answer is pretty obvious. Just... get a new room. See if anyone there needs a roommate. A shame you're not there, I'd suggest you and me. You're pretty low maintenance as roommates go, I imagine, so it'd probably be nice. I thought about asking Sayaka, but... moving in with your ex cause your theyfriend left? Seems... a bit... pathetic... you know? And... awkward. Maybe... the girl who gave me the new henshin. She's sweet. Bit bombtastic, if you know what I mean. Loud, but not in a bad way."

She pushed off the bike, before turning and lifting up the seat. "Actually, that reminds me. But... yeah..." she mumbled as she rifled through the stuff under it, pulling out her book bag and rummaging through it. "It was... rough. I got home and she was bawling. Told me she needed a hug and, of course, I gave her one. Then she goes on about how I'm doing better now, how I've finally got my shit together."

"... Then she told me she had to leave, for my own good. Ran off, said it was... for the best... I went after her and she was gone. Haven't... seen them since. Admittedly... felt... like a really terrible 'reward' for getting my shit together, you know? I don't... even feel angry. I just feel hurt and sad. Don't... worry about hitting her. She's... not wrong. I do have it together. I've handled this better than I thought. So long as I don't... go... home..." she mumbled.

"... Admittedly, I could have used one of those 'cheering up' hugs when she did it. That pissed off Usagi a lot. I hugged her to help comfort her... for her breaking up with me. Just... my little drama stirrer, I guess." She then grinned. "Ah, here we go!" She walked bac ktowards Catra, a big grin on her face.

"I have a gift for you, something for getting your shit together." Whatever she had in her hand was hidden, her fist closed. She then... gave Catra a hug. "Congratulations." And when she pulled back...

Catra's force captain badge... The one she'd tossed away ages ago, with Sunbreaker. "I remembered when you tossed it back then, you looked so sad... and.... frankly? I don't think you did need it."

"But you always deserved it. So, now that you've got your own magic, your own... well... everything? You can look at it... and just remember. Nobody defines who you are, but you. Force Captain, dark general, princess, it doesn't matter. You decide who you are, and they'll be lucky to have you... Force Captain of Princesses, Catra Applesauce Meowmeow," Cure La Licorne said with a big, teasing grin.
Catra Ordinarily, hugging Catra is a dangerous thing to do. There are boundary issues and things like claws and defensive reactions. But, today, it seems like Catra was expecting it, so she doesn't tense up quite as much as usual; Hinoiri even gets a light pat on the back, which certainly has never happened before.

"Don't rush," Catra advises. "You don't have to make decisions until you want to. It's not like you're rushing into battle or anything. Just go enjoy being a fire sparkle or... whatever the good side calls people," the last being said with an upwards quirk of one side of her mouth. "Anyway, I--"

Anything that might have been about to be said, goes unsaid, with the revelation of the Force Captain badge. And for a moment, she just stares at it, before reaching out to take it and hold it up to look at it. "...You kept it?" she asks, still staring at it. Well, yes, obviously she kept it Catra, that's how she has it.

"Never thought I'd see it again," she says at last. "I kinda regretted hucking it, but... it felt ''good'' at the time. I couldn't really explain it then, but it really did feel like a declaration that I wasn't going to let anyone but me define me anymore." She tosses the badge up in the air, catches it again, and looks at it once more.

"Thank you for hanging on to it. I don't know what I'm going to end up calling myself once I've got this Spirit Ember worked out." She sucks in a breath, and sighs. "Glimmer is ''insisting'' that this makes me a Princess, and while I suppose by Etheria's rules it does that does NOT mean I have to go along with it, I can seriously burn those rules down too if I want to." She pauses, and rolls her eyes, "But if this thing starts manifesting a tiara like Adora's sword does, I suppose I'm done for."

The feline pauses, and scowls. "And I am totally punching DT if I see her. That was ''crap''."
Hinoiri Kirara "Of course. Even then you were my friend, and friend's look out for each other. Even if they don't realize they need it." She paused. "I hope that actually sounded like... it made sense. Cause I said it in my head and it sounded okay until I said it out loud and now it just feels kind of cliche'd," Cure La Licorne said, reaching up to rub the back of her head. "But... yeah. I knew when you threw it away... you needed to. But I didn't want it to turn out to be something you regretted. So... I teleported back there later and dug it out of the alleyway. Took a bit to find, but... I knew, one day, when you didn't *need* it anymore? Then it'd be good for you to have something you *wanted*."

"There's probably some lesson here about our pasts shaping us, but only we can define us... but I think if we go past the metric of 'silly, cheesyness' all the black in my uniform will turn pink and, honestly? I look *damn* fine in black like this. And I wouldn't worry too much about being a princess. Everyone here seems to be a princess. Except me, ironically. Especially now that I've given up on being a sovereign."

"... Unless they like, introduce a buy one, get one for princesses deal at the korma. Then be a princess."

She walked to her bike and sat on it, only for... a flurry of sparkles to fly over the bike and... it sparkled. Just a bit. The color scheme only changing a bit. And she gasped. "Oh my gosh... I can magic my bike when I ride it? Yessssss. I haven't had a magic bike since... well... the sparkles blew mine up. For... admittedly good reason. So, what do you say? Head a bit deeper into the park, see how much property damage our powers can do and how well we can hold up?" Pause. "Oh... and just don't hit them TOO hard... but... maybe a little punch would be okay..."
Catra Catra holds up one hand in surrender, "Don't worry, I won't knock any of their teeth out," she assures Hinoiri. "They might... need dental work though, you never know. ...I hit pretty hard." Ain't that the truth.

The feline who is NOT a princess tosses the Force Captain badge up in the air and catches it once more, before clipping it onto her jacket; not so much as a declaration that she's reclaiming the rank, but that she's just... keeping that part of her identity, now. It's a part of her past and she's not giving it up. "Still a better Force Captain than Adora would ever have been," she adds as a mischievous assertion. "And if there's a deal for princesses that way at that Korma, I'll invite you, don't worry. ...I wouldn't... pass that up." She pauses. "Not telling Glimmer though."

When Hinoiri's powers transform her bike, and the feline nods approvingly. "You do look good in Black. You'd look ''terrible'' in Pink, so don't do it. You'll also not catch me dead in Pink no matter what." She finishes her noodles, tosses the box and chopsticks off to the side, and then straddles her bike and kicks the kickstand up out of the way. "Go destroy things, hunh? Like you even have to ''ask''."

Catra turns the key, and the Honda Rebel roars to life with Catra gunning the engine hard; she lays down a semi-circle of rubber as she spins the bike around, spinning the rear wheel as she does and kicking up a lot of smoke before she rockets off, popping a wheely as she goes... and leaving a trail of fire, as both wheels of her bike ignite.
