| Koji Silvia | #rIt's Monday morning, and a very still-tired and worn out Koji is pulling on his uniform when his laptop with his day's schedule pops up a notice. 'Mr. Silvia, please come to the Nurse's Office ASAP.' There's a little bit of guilt on his face, and then with an exhale he decides to change back out of his school clothes to a blue and black tracksuit. Throwing on a set of walking sandals rather than go through all the effort of shoes, despite the cold weather, Hanzo goes into his pocket and he goes through the short walk from the dorms to the main building, avoiding any puddles or things that might get cold into his socks. Once there, he knocks politely on the door, before opening it and slipping inside, saying, "You wanted to see me, Miss Meiou?" He's putting on his most polite and neutral tone he can muster, that overly Japanese one that it takes a very politely-minded person to muster. |
| Setsuna Meiou | Ah, the school infirmary. A staple of the high school experience...where students go to deal with the various cuts, scrapes, strains and the like common amongst a building full of 1000 or so hormone-soaked adolescents. Not to mention all the ones trying to scam the nurse to let them skive off of class. Generally, the infirmary's a fairly small office for the nurse and some equipment. At least, that's the general rule. Given the budget Radiant Heart boasts, the infirmary's a bit bigger and more well appointed than most. There are several beds (which are currently not in use) and to an eye familiar with the medical world, there's enough well-laid-out kit that it's quite likely that, in extremis, one could actually do surgery here. Still, most of the room is broken up with little rolling-wall medical dividers, with the bulk of the area set up for the kind of service one would need for a typical average assortment of students. Reasonably nice chairs, little triage areas, that kind of thing. The walls have various posters one might see in a doctor's office, though most of them are a bit more aimed at student-level things like common adolescent illnesses and the like. One particular poster, however, probably catches the eye: This one's photo surrounded by a black frame in the style of the common 'motivational' poster. The picture is of a woman in a maroon yoga suit who, from about the waist down is lying face down...but she's bent over comletely backwards so that her head is lying on the bed between her legs and her face and upper torso are face up with her arms lying next to her legs. There's a nurse behind her in the shot, and the text reads in large letters: 'GOOD NEWS' In smaller type underneath is added: "The Doctor found your problem' As is often the case, when one enters the room, Nurse Meiou can be seen passing the time reading a book whilst ildly spinning a pen through the fingers of her off hand. Said book has a picture of a trenchcoated man wearing a wide brimmed hat and carrying a staff in one hand and a huge revolver in the other. As Koji enters the Infirmary, the pen stops spinning in Nurse Meiou's fingers...and with a twist of her wrist, it's replaced by what appears to be a bar of pure void. A hole in the universe that she then uses...to mark her place in her book, which she then closes with a snap (revealing the title in large English letters to be Battle Ground). Setting the book down, she sighs, shakes her head, then points Koji to one of the exam beds, "Mister Silvia, after what I was told happened, you should have been here the moment the doors opened this morning." She pauses, then frowns, "...earlier, perhaps." |
| Koji Silvia | When he adjusts his glasses, the light does not change reflection on it, instead it just comes with a heavy sigh from the young man as he closes the door behind him. "I've been in bed all weekend, Miss Meiou. I was going to see how I'd feel today in class, and come by if I was feeling off, I promise." But knowing that words after the fact are never enough to placate an adult, or adult-adjacent authority figure, he comes over to where the Senshi and in-house healthcare expert is, and moves to the closest medical bed to just sit down on it. The jacket comes off from the track outfit and is rested on the pillow, showing he was just wearing a sleeveless top under it, this one a faded white thing with a half-visible 'Genesis Climber Mospeada' logo on it. He doesn't rest back, but he does sit there quietly, "Yes, I did get a rather nasty woman putting an arm through me. Honestly, I think the second worst thing that's been done to me. But... no scar this time. Unlike my back." To prove that point, he lifts up his shirt to show off that a) He has an athlete's physique, and b) there is a suspiciously paler spot there unlike the rest of his more natively slightly darker complexion. As he lowers it back down, "I admit, I could have contacted you yesterday, but it was Sunday, and I don't know if you actually make plans for the one day off we get. Probably not the best logic, but I figured you'd be madder if I interrupted a date or something you'd been looking forward to." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou gives Koji a bit of a flat look for a few moments before shaking her head. She twists the wrist of her main hand in that way she does when she's doing slieght of hand tricks and produces a laser thermometer which she then aims at the young man's head and pulls the trigger. After a moment, it beeps and she glances over at the reading, "Thirty Eight degrees. You're running a mild fever. Which, given what happened, means you're probably fighting off what could potentially be a rather nasty bacterial infection." With that, she walks over to the cabinets behind Koji, "And for future reference, the health and safety of my charges comes first and foremost, so I have no problems coming in on a Sunday." After a few moments, she comes back with a tray featuring several needles and bottles of medicine, "And there's no dating you need to worry about interrupting, so that's not an excuse, either." |
| Koji Silvia | After blowing out a breath, Koji looks slightly away from the nurse, and then down at his feet. After a second or two, he looks back up and at you again, "Alright." For the last part, he looks almost surprised, and tilts his head slightly in that sort of feline fashion that he's mastered, almost to the point that if he had the ears, they might even prick, but he says, "I... apologize. It wasn't kind of me to bring it up. Most of us get a lot of pressure to date, especially women. It's not really fair." However, with that, he relaxes back now, resting his head on his jacket with his arms over his belly as he asks, "Okay, so I have an infection... I suppose I should count myself lucky. Don't worry about the needles... those stopped bothering me a while ago." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou snorts, "Mister Silvia, my dating days are LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG behind me. Frankly, I'm not sure what I'd even do on one." That said, she smirks a bit at the younger man's comment about needles, "Well, that's good. Because I'm going to hit you with basically every different antibiotic I have." She hands the young man a small paper cup with a pair of pills and a bottle of water, "Take these first." As soon as he's done that, she gently takes his arm and wraps a rubber strap around it while she unwraps several syringes...though they all conspicuously don't have a needle attatched to them, "So what happened, precisely? All I heard was that you got run through and Tuxedo healed you after, but not much else." |
| Koji Silvia | Pills are taken obediently, and the water-bottle is half-swallowed before he caps it off and puts it to the side. Then Koji adds a little exposition, "My mom wanted me to see some of what she does for a living... but then this blizzard rolled in at the new Library in Juuban. Where Representative Tomioka was going to give a talk about the things she had in mind for her time in the Diet. So... things were getting a little panicky at the weather, and then this white haired human youma showed up in a blue iceskating outfit. I didn't know if anyone else who... could do what we do... was there. So, I changed as quick as I could without drawing attention and then put myself in the way of it all. It wasn't until later that I saw Moon, and then Mask... and then Miss Faust rocketted in... she seems to be everywhere." He gives a small dip of the head, an apology again, and moves on, "She was using water and ice to drain people, and I was on the back foot. So I protected the rest of them, including the person she was after. But I got too drained from trying to defend everyone else, and we'd already lost one person... so I couldn't guard myself. If I spared anything for me, someone else would have been hurt or worse." Oddly, he doesn't look like he's beating himself up, not showing like guilt is weighing on him, "The others... they took her out. But then she just... had one last ounce of spite in her, and she reformed from ice and water and just... well..." And he thrusts his hand into the air, fingers out like a spear-point. He then just shakes his head, "I... feel bad about the one that we couldn't save, but I can't do some of the kinds of magic that other people can. So... for me, this was... the best outcome I could manage." |
| Setsuna Meiou | As Nurse Meiou listens to Koji's tale, she takes his arm and inspects the back of it, gently tapping in several places before she finds what she's apparently looking for. A quick swab of an alcohol wipe later, she gets out a needle attached to a little butterfly-looking frame, "Alright...small pinch..." And with what is indeed a small pinch, she settles the needle before putting some tape on to keep it in place. There's a thin tube that's attached to the needle which ends in a small socket, "There we go." As the young man finishes his tale, the nurse scowls for a moment, then blows out a sigh and shakes her head, "Don't sell yourself short. By what you've described, if you hadn't been there, things would have been MUCH worse." The first syringe is unwrapped, then the blunt end is placed into the socket of the newly-installed IV and the plunger is pressed, "Alright...one of four down..." |
| Koji Silvia | Koji flicks one eye shut when the pinch comes and he inhales a hiss from his teeth. Then he nods back and doesn't touch where he was just poked, and then exhales softly, "I almost started beating myself up over the one who died... he had a daughter, she was right there. She got shot through the hand, but... I was so focused, I couldn't pay attention to anything more than what I could see and sense. Then it sort of hit me... if I'm going to force myself to do 'never again' every time something bad happens, it's just going to be worse in the long run. I'll fight harder, and dumber, and then make an even bigger mistake, and it'll eat at me worse. I wasn't the only one there, so it's not all on me. I feel bad for everyone. No one wants to see anyone die but... I don't know how to describe it. I feel bad... but... there's going to be something else horrific that happens tomorrow, and maybe I can do good there too." He then just closes his eyes, "A part of wishes I was still normal. So none of this was happening to me... but then this other voice in me says, if I was... would all those people who didn't get hurt... have been hurt too? So... yeah..." |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou goes very silent for a moment as she looks at Koji...and then she lets out a soft sigh before switching the syringe for a full one, "...one of the hardest lessons to learn for anyone in a medical profession is that you can't save everyone..." She trails off for a moment, then continues, "...sometimes it just doesn't work out..." Another pause, then she goes on in a slightly more upbeat tone, "...though it looks like you've learned the proper lesson from that...you do the best you can, accept you can't do everything...and resolve to do your best next time." She reaches up and gently pats Koji on the shoulder, "I'm glad you were there, Mister Silvia." |
| Koji Silvia | He adds, almost bitterly, "A lesson I hope won't be forgotten when the... time comes..." He doesn't tense or the next shot, but does say, "You mind if I ask you question?" Not looking up, his feet sort of hang there, one sandal on the ground, the other just dangling and swaying slightly as he kicks his foot back and forth in a slow pendulum, and then as if to distract himself, he looks outside towards the cold Tokyo weather. |
| Setsuna Meiou | At the oblique mention of the Fade, Nurse Meiou scowls for a moment before shaking her head a little. It's a problem for another time. At the moment, she has a student to care for. As she swaps out the second empty syringe for a full third one, she tilts her head and looks over at the young man, "You may ask whatever you like, Mister Silvia...though I reserve the right to be mysterious and inscrutible if necessary." She smiles a bit as she slowly works the plunger. |
| Koji Silvia | Another shot, but this time he doesn't feel the pinch... and instead he looks to see where the weird coldness is from the Iv. Stopping himself in time from rubbing under the spot where the pinch was, he actually ends up sniffling once. Reaching over for a tissue carefully, Koji blows his nose before bundling it up, and tossing it expertly in the bin from across the room. Then he asks his question. "There's someone I've been told about, and I've met once. I don't entirely trust them... what I was told doesn't add up, and I'm worried about some friends because of it. But they firmly believe that everything's fine and they're weirdly happy. Am I just being too paranoid? That good things don't just happen, anymore?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | Nurse Meiou hrms as she sockets in the last syringe and starts injecting it through the IV line, "Well, it would largely depend on whom you had been told about and what you'd heard." She pauses for a few moments as she finishes the last syringe, then she sets them down on the tray and gets some supplies from the cabinet, "...that said, being concerned for your friend isn't a bad thing..." There's a pause as she frowns in thought, then she shrugs a little and starts carefully pulling the tape up that had been securing the IV insert, "...ultimately, it's a matter of how much you trust their judgement and whether they perhaps don't know some of the details you do." |
| Koji Silvia | The moment of reflection while you talk makes Koji say, "And maybe I'm just a little bitter. I see all these people being happy around me, getting together, and... I feel more and more like... like I don't belong there anymore." "I've spent a lot of time just being a shadow in a room... It's always made me nervous about friends. Like it's always on a clock, and eventually the alarm's going to go off for them." Scratching the back of his head a moment, he then adjusts his glasses and watches as you make yourself busy, "Fair's fair... any questions you want to ask?" |
| Setsuna Meiou | As the last of the tape is removed, Nurse Meiou gently pulls the needle out, then puts a wadge of gauze over the entry point and secures it with a bit of medical tape, "Keep that on there for a little while." She then goes about cleaning up, disposing of the used syringes into a medical waste cabinet on the wall, "Okay, between the four different antibiotics and some of the other medicine I gave you, you're going to start getting pretty sleepy here in about half an hour. You can go back to your room and clock out in your own bed if you like. When you wake up, eat a big meal then check your temperature." With that, she hands Koji a small electronic thermometer, "If it hasn't come down some by then, give me a call and we'll re-evaluate." She then ducks into the walk-in closet before coming out with a small box that she also hands over, "Also take one of these a day for the next four days. Make sure to take them ALL, even if you're feeling better...but if you feel you're getting worse, check back with me IMMEDIATELY. My number is on the card I taped to the back." The box is handed over, "...however, given that you already had your more severe wounds dealt with and healed, with this little bit of help, your body should be able to knock out this infection fairly easily." At the young man's question, Nurse Meiou smiles a bit and shakes her head, "No, I think you're doing fine, Mister Silvia. Don't be so hard on yourself. You're doing just fine as far as I can see." And with that, she hands over one last thing. A full-size SNICKERS bar. |
| Koji Silvia | He takes the SNICKERS, and pockets it, then the pills and directions go into the other pocket. Pushing off the bed, he wriggles his foot back in the dropped sandal. As Koji pulls the jacket back on, and zips up, he says, "Sorry I was so offputting before. I... didn't have a good track record with faculty at my middle school. A lot of the teachers and staff there... it wasn't a good place. I'll try and not be so closed off in the future." With that said, he turns towards the door, but pauses to say over his shoulder, "And Thank you." But like most students, despite his good wishes, he slips out the door, leaving barely a click of the lock in his passing. |
| Setsuna Meiou | As Koji leaves, Nurse Meiou snorts and shakes her head as if to say '...TEENAGERS...' And then she settles back and goes back to reading her book as she waits for the NEXT emergency to happen. |
