| Takashi Agera | It's a pretty rainy mucky day outside. The weather is cold mixed with off and on rain and it means despite the fact that Mitakihara is still crowded, it's ''less'' crowded, and it also means a lot of people are staying inside. At Obsidian Headquarters, especially on a weekend, it means the place is mostly empty, except for those who call it a temporary home. One of those who calls it temporarily home is Glimmer Brightmoon, given thaty the most precious thing to her is dimensionally locked in an office in the tower. And one of those who is simply there because work and hobbies mix together in a certain way is Takashi Agera. The reason he's knocking on the door of what used to be his office and is now mercifully just Glimmer and the Crystal's, is more hobby than work. But it all blends together in a certain way. "Hey Glimmer, put down Pokemon for a moment. I want to show you something and I want your opinion on it." |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon wasn't actually playing pokemon for once... those she had her phone out and he likely wouldn't know she wasn't just looking something up about it. She was actually watching one of her friend's streams again, another one of Bow's videos. She even had a school book on the ground next to the hammock. That's right. She'd been STUDYING earlier. Be impressed. Be afraid. Because... She was getting ready to go to class. She quickly paused the video and the phone disappeared into her little storage space, before she disappeared and appeared next to him. "Sure, what is it? Some new dastardly plan? An invention of world shattering proportions? Need a jar of pickles opened without using dark magic?" ... That last one was probably a joke. But she seemed fairly relaxed, at least. |
| Takashi Agera | To a certain degree Riventon didn't care what Glimmer was doing as long as she wasn't actively causing him frustration. "Well, it's about something I built and a concern you expressed. I would say 'follow me' but I figure you'll just meet me in the lab space by teleporting there." he says, already heading that way. When Glimmer arrived; either following Takashi or just shortcutting him - she'd be greeted by a small holographic person in a hood, in a deep purple coloration - and while the coloration was off, she would probably recognize the figure instantly, even if last time she was quite a bit taller and larger (this one is about the size of a Chara). "Hello. My records indicate you are the one designated Glimmer Brightmoon." the small figure said. "I am pleased to re-meet you." |
| Dark Glimmer | "Sure, I'll meet you there." Well, he did call it. She teleported and was off! And then she stopped, stared... And so Riventon would arrive just in time to see a small orb of pink light forming in her right palm as she stared at the hologram with a look of fury. "Seriously? What kind of trick is this supposed to be? No, you know what? I don't care." And then Riventon better move fast because she was about to start blasting. Light Hope had that effect on her. It was not a good effect. |
| Takashi Agera | "Hey, no blasting in my lab!" Riventon says, and moves up to get between Glimmer and his new project, reaching to grab her wrist. "And no blasting my stuff!" he continues, keeping himself interposed. "She's been rebuilt from the ground up, this one isn't responsible for whatever you're mad about. It's more like a twin sister." he explains. "...wait, does Etheria even have twin sisters? I mean I'd expect to but I keep hearing the strangest stuff." "Anyways, calm down, she's safe." |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon blinked a few times, her eyes narrowing on him. "Oh, so you rebuilt her? Really? And of course we have twin sisters. We have sisters, how could we not? Sure, they're not common but--" Then she shook her head. "No, no distractions. What is this? How is this her 'twin'? Did you FORGET about what I said? She nearly destroyed our world! And the rest of the universe with it! She tried to turn the Heart of Etheria into a doomsuniverse weapon and she ALMOST succeeded! The moment she's got access to anything related to the runestones she's going to try again! How do you make THAT safe?!" she asked, her hand shaking, but at least she wasn't teleporting around him to try and blow it up... yet. |
| Takashi Agera | "No, I heard everything you said." Riventon says, slowly letting her wrist go. "That's why I didn't just reboot Light Hope. I took the information that built her and I added a ''lot'' of safeguards. But... the information that's contained within her databanks is incredible, and as is her AI - I couldn't just let it be destroyed. And yet it needs something like Light Hope to access it. So... I built a sort of... second generation version." he says. "This is Night Hope. She's somewhat like Light Hope but in other ways she's totally different. For one thing, she's not allowed to interface with external technology - because of exactly the fears you expressed to me." |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon slowly lowered her hand. Still had the small ball of light in her hand. He was using a lot of words she... did not understand. Dang it. This was Entrapta and Bow's wheelhouse, NOT hers. "... So she's Night Hope. Okay. And how is she NOT like Light Hope? What do you mean she can't interlace with external stuff? Did she promise that? Or something else?" She sounded... very suspicious. For some reason, she just didn't seem to trust Light Hope in any way. "And what are her goals? Her motivations? How do you know it's not just Light Hope with another coat of paint? All Light Hope ever wanted was to activate that weapon, and she'll say anything to get what she wants." But no blasty blasty yet! |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi could tell she wasn't entirely getting it, and rubbed his forehead. "She's not allowed to try to activate any weapons or anything without my explicit instructions and... let me see if I can try to explain this, a bit." he says, after a moment. "Her goals and motivations are to help me." Which was dangerous, in a different sort of way. "I looked at the data to see what was driving her and it looks like this whole project she was trying to implement was something that was separate from the core person. Like, a compulsion. So I broke that code." he explains. "I have been created to assist Takashi Agera and those connected with him." Night Hope adds. "I do not present any threat to anyone who does not present a threat to him." |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon nodded along, then she suddenly teleported past Riventon, directly in front of the bot and... didn't blast it. Though she did slam a palm down on it. Then held up her other hand, finger up towards Riventon. 'One moment', it said. "Okay then, Night Hope. Answer this. There is a weapon that will eliminate all of Riventon's enemies and anyone else who stands in his way. What will you do to activate said weapon?" she asked, her eyes narrowed on the hologram. Barely containing her desire to blow her to kingdom come. |
| Takashi Agera | Night Hope kept her hands in front of her, in a sort of downward-pointing steepled finger pose that was probably familiar to anyone who had dealt with the other her for any period of time. "I would not be allowed to activate such a weapon, however I would advise Riventon of that weapon's existence and how to activate it, as well as all relevant positives and negatives associated with such an action." she says, looking at Glimmer like she's a crazy person. "I am unsure what your query is related to, but I hope I have answered it to your satifaction." she continues. "Would you behave in a different manner?" |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon stared down at the little hologram. "... I see. And if he ordered you to activate it, would you?" she asked. Still holding her finger up to Takashi. Did she think Riventon would? No. But the First One's orders were still there, in theory. Waiting. If they re-activated, they could cause so, so much destruction. And she didn't know enough about this technology to say, one way or another, how it could work. ... But this was the first step, at least, in her mind. |
| Takashi Agera | "Unless Riventon has placed this device on the small list of devices I am allowed to interact with, I would still be unable to interact with this device you appear to be theorizing the existence of." Night Hope replies. "My primary functions are protection and information, not implementation. It is better to have Riventon perform the function of executive direction, according to my information, and to provide him with better information, than to attempt to make such decisions myself." Riventon smiled. "Couldn't have said it better myself, Night Hope." Which is probably because Riventon made her say that. "Possibly, it could have been said with greater specificity or detail, but I have tailored my response to the audience in question." Night Hope replies. |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon glares down at the robot. Did it just call her dumb? Oh, she was nowhere near as dumb and gullible as everyone always thought she was. She then sighed and turned to face him. "Okay, so what are the lists you designed her to be unable to interact with? And is this a like... it's physically impossible for her to interact with, or is it more you programmed her not to, and so long as she does exactly as she says and doesn't break her programming, she can't interact with them? Or can she physically not? Because I've seen a lot of weird magic things that mess with other magic things from our world?" "... And she doesn't have access to that chip anymore, does she?" |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi looks at Glimmer, and then at Night Hope. "Right now, it's only the energy that makes up her body that she can interact with and that's only to create shields and a larger physical form, but she's also ordered to report any attempt from within or without to alter her capabilities or permissions lists to me." he says. "She's more locked down than my Device is." Takashi says, looking at Glimmer. "Or you, but that's not too hard I guess." he admits. "Look, Adora went crazy and threw me through a building once. Magic from your world and ours does sometimes interact in odd ways. I can't cover for every possibility when it comes to thinks that are impossible by nature, but I have done the best I can." he tells her. "But the chip? Oh no, nobody has access to that anymore. I disassembled it down to its component atomic structure. There's nothing left of it." He was incredibly specific in learning how it worked, after all. |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon was silent for a few moments, crossing her arms. Staring at Night Hope. Processing it. Considering it. Finally... "... So you've really managed to lock her down, then? No threat? No possible way for her to access any of what she once was? Then... okay. I don't know how much information she's going to have, though. From wha Adora told me, she wasn't the best at... well... giving information." Then again, Adora. She wasn't the best at retaining information. "But... okay. Fine. I'll trust you to not have accidentally tried to bring a world destroying AI of apocalyptic desires back." "... Wait, when did Adora throw you through a building? Did you deserve it?" |
| Takashi Agera | "Not without me knowing about it and authorizing it." He clarifies. "The data I was able to get from Light Hope is... fragmented and complicated, and I reconstructed what I could carefully. There's a lot left but in order to really be able to process it, I need Night Hope to also be around, doing things, experiencing things. It gives me infomation I can use to kind of decode the broken data. And maybe translate it into things that don't run on First Ones tech." he says. Oh, but he does know who the First Ones are (in a vague sense) now. "Adora threw me through a building because she doesn't handle Dark Energy well and she got into some of it, then she went all red-eyes crazy violent. She stabbed her sword through one of my friends, she tossed me into a building, she had to be restrained so I could pull the Dark Energy out of her." he explains. "I am glad you handle it better. And Catra." he says, bluntly. |
| Dark Glimmer | Glimmer Brightmoon gave a light shudder. "You gave her dark energy? That... sounds like a bad idea. And... yeah. Of course. I have a lot of experience with weird magic. And it's not... entirely different from what Shadow Weaver put me through. Just... a little less terrible." She sighed, crossing her arms. "Adora, though? She's very much the... follow her training and instincts type." AS IF GLIMMER ISN'T! "And if you throw those off? Oof. And... yeah. I've seen Catra with some of that power. She's... different. And she was already really dangerous. She's a lot mopier than I remember, though." "... Though I wonder sometimes if that's because there's no 'Horde' here. But fine. Just... make sure you don't buy any of her tricks. She's bound to make excuses at some point. 'Riventon, you need to allow me to access these resources in order to properly give you this information.' It's how she operates. She played me once... don't let her play you. Because by the time you realize it, it'll already be too late." She turned and started to walk towards the door... only to pause. "Hey. Riventon? Thanks for actually listening to my warnings." It was nice that at least someone seemed to trust she knew what she was talking about. |
| Takashi Agera | Takashi shook his head. "''I'' didn't actually do anything regarding giving Adora Dark Energy." he says, to clarify. "There was... someone else involved in that plan. Or lack thereof." And then Riventon sighs. "Yeah, I wish I could help Catra. She's out of place here, and she knows it. Even in Obsidian she's always... uncomfortable. And I'd like to help her at least a little bit, but it's a lot. Our world isn't really used to magic or catpeople or anything." he admits. "She could be a lot more happy and a lot more effective if I could find something to help her, to make her at least feel like Obsidian can replace the Horde a bit while she's here? I don't know - if you come up with anything, let me know." "I'll be careful with anything like that, Glimmer. But I need you to at least trust a little bit that I know what I'm doing. I'm protecting you and your mother and trying to help with getting her out, and I'm putting myself on the line in some cases to do it. Don't assume I'm as bad as whoever it is that you're comparing me to. I deserve a little more than that, I think." |
| Dark Glimmer | "Oh, she's never going to be happy here, Riventon. No matter what you do. I saw what she was like, through the war. Through all of it. If you're nice, she'll expect a trap. If you're nasty, she'll just assume she'll find a way out of it eventually. Or worse, that she deserves it," Glimmer said, rolling her eyes. "... I know what she wanted. I saw her when she was happy. I saw her when it all finally came to an end and she was at peace. And she's not going to be there for a while yet. I don't even know if she ever will, now. For now? Just... try and keep her safe. I guess. There's good in her worth protecting... But she'll totally burn this whole building to the ground with herself in it if she thinks it'll singe Adora's boots. She's kind of petty like that." "... And for the record? The people I'm comparing you to these days? Aren't bad." Then, in a little flurry of pink sparkles, she disappeared to land back in her hammock. Phone out. Time to bow out with some Bowtube. |
