Setsuna Meiou It's the day after the time rip done by Adora that seems to have ended up with her switching places with a younger version of herself.

A version that, importantly, is once again new here and is missing a LOT of context of what this place is and what's going on.

After gotten her back to the dorm she was set up in, a note was left to come to the Infirmary as soon as she woke up along with directions on how to get there.

Fortunately, since the campus is well laid out and is on temporary break following finals, the halls are generally fairly deserted during the day. Only the occasional student who lives on campus taking a shortcut by ducking through the school halls are seen in the Admin buildings.

The infirmary at the Radiant Heart Academy is, as perhaps expected, just as swank as the rest of the school. It's a large, well-supplied room separated with some of those rolling medical divider walls. Fairly nice beds can be seen here and there through gaps, and the main area is set up like a typical waiting room/nurse's station, complete with posters giving info about various adolescent diseases/conditions/problems.

One poster that stands out a little from the rest is a cartoon of two doctors standing over a patient lying on a bed with an arrow sticking up out of their arm. The caption reads:

'At a guess, I believe this arrow might be the source of her pain.'

The door is slighty ajar, inviting entrance, and within is a very tall woman wearing a labcoat that conceals most all of her clothes aside from the three inch heels she wears. Her hair hangs mostly free down from a small bun at the top of her head, and she's got one of those large insulated food carry containers on the table next to her.

She seems to be passing the time reading a book...the back of which has a picture of a tall, scruffy, trenchcoat wearing man with a staff in one hand and a huge revolver in the other.

In her off hand, she absently rolls a coin across her knuckles, flipping it over each one in turn before getting to the end and rolling it under her hand back to the first.
Adora Rainbowfist Yep. Being led to a room and being told it's hers and also that she now has a roommate for her room is... oddly kind of not the first time it happened, but this time Adora isn't a prisoner in Bright Moon. But that's beside the point.

It wasn't long after reading the note that Adora spent a long time debating going to the note because honestly she could just go back to sleep and pretend this was just a bad dream. And hey maybe she'd wake up and everything would be normal again and she'd be fighting in a war against the horde. You know. Normal things.

...Okay thinking about it it's not normal at all, but it's all she's known. After trying to do said nap to wake up where things were normal, when she woke up in the dorm room, she gave a bit of a sigh and stood up. "Alright, guess this is happening." She says to herself.

And she was out of the dorm room, following the instructions. ...And only making a wrong turn once or twice before she eventually made it to the infirmary. As she wanders, she comments to herself, "This must be a school for princesses, this is almost as fancy as Bright Moon." ...A few of the students nearby give her a bit of an odd look.

And soon she's at that ajar door, taking a deep breath. Was this some sort of trap? Should she have her sword ready for a suddeny Catra to leap out at her? ... It's probably not. And it's not like she's been shy of traps before. She takes a deep breath, before pushing open the door and stepping through. If this is more of that projection in the portal, they'll probably act like everything is perfect, anyway.

"Uh... hi?"
Setsuna Meiou As soon as Adora pokes her head in, Nurse Meiou looks over, "Ah, Miss Rainbowfist. Please, enter freely and of your own will."

The tall woman smiles and waves Adora into the room, "We need to get some information updated for your records...and I imagine you have a LOT of questions."

An absent roll of her off hand makes the coin disappear, and in it's place spins a short bar of...well, it looks on first appearance to be a piece of pure void.

A hand-wide bar of utter blackness that looks like nothing less than a hole in space.

The way her fingers move makes it look like she's flipping over something...and the black bar DOES change width...and then there's a golden letter that looks like the capital letters P and L combined hovering in the center.

...and then Nurse Meiou uses this seeming hole in space...to mark the place of her book, which she snaps shut, revealing the title as 'SKIN GAME'.

She sets the book down on the counter beside her, then turns to the insulated bag next to her and retrieves a large WcDonald's bag that she hands over to the blonde, "Since I imagine it's been a while since you had something to eat, I brought breakfast."

And indeed, within the bag is a steak egg and cheese bagel sandwich with hash browns along with a large bottle of apple juice.

She waves Adora to a seat nearby, then retrieves her own breakfast (apparently the same but with a large cup of what declares it is a 'mocha'), "So what would you like to know first?"
Adora Rainbowfist Enter freely of your own will. That's. Not really what she expected to be told, but okay. Adora steps into the room carefully, looking around a bit. There's definitely some caution to her movements, as well as that kind of awkward look someone gets when they clearly think they're out of place. Though after examining the room she seems to relax a bit, probably recognizing the room for what it is; an infirmary.

"Uhm... r...right. For uh. For my records. Because apparently I existed here before." And that's weird. Aaaand then the coin flipping that turns into a bar of pure void. Adora's hand reflexively lifts up to grab the handle of her sword, which was on her back, which is probably the real reason she got a weird look earlier.

...And it's a bookmark. What. Adora stands there, still holding onto the handle of that sword for a few moments as she processes this information. She's definitely not just stunned and confused. Nope. Not at all.

Wait.
Food.

"R...right. I uh. I actually don't remember eating while in that... uh. Situation." Should she even talk about the portal? She reaches over to take the bag of food, her hand finally leaving the handle to open the bag and look inside, moving to the seat she's waved to. And sitting down.

"I..." A few questions flash in her mind, but the most pressing one. "...Do you know why Glimmer just kind of... teleported away?"
Setsuna Meiou Nurse Meiou absently nibbles her way through her hash brown while she waits for Adora to process a bit and ask a question.

Frankly, she'd have rather tucked into her bagel, but as much as she likes them, they're basically impossible to eat quickly and NOT make a mess...so she'll wait a bit there.

When Adora asks her first question, Nurse Meiou sighs, "Okay. Hrm. We're going to need some context first to answer that question."

A long pull is taken off her mocha, then, fortified, the nurse goes on, "First off, let me introduce myself. I am Nurse Meiou and this is Radiant Heart Academy. The planet you're on is called 'Earth'...and because of a massive magical cataclysm several thousand years ago, the vast majority of the population believes that magic does not exist...which is reinforced by several of the byproducts of said cataclysm, one of which is sort of a cognitive filter that encourages non magical people to rationalize or dismiss as a hallucination any magical phenomenon they encouter."

She takes a bite of her hash brown, chews and swallows, then goes on, "Of course, there are some of us who are aware that this is not the case. And as you might imagine, some of THOSE are the kind that are, of course, interested in power."

A frown and shake of her head is given, "Something or someone has, recently, managed to collect a number of these groups which would normally be as much at each other's throats as the rest of us and gotten them to loosely work at not cross purposes. The result is an organization called Obsidian that masquerades as a legitimate company."

She pauses, then gives Adora a look, "Now, much as we'd like to regard it as such, Obsidian is not a monolith...and while some of the people and groups within it are utterly reprehensible...others are merely there to leech off their resources and are generally only out for themselves."

She shrugs, "At a guess, your friend Glimmer might be involved with some of those. I don't know if she was just convinced by someone or if there's some other motive or leverage being held on her. You'll probably get better answers from your friend Bow who is here at Radiant Heart."
Adora Rainbowfist Adora does not worry as much about the avoiding the eating quickly to make a mess thing, grabbing her own bagel and taking a bit as Setsuna starts t o answer that first question. Occasionally taking sips from her soda. "Context. Okay." Nurse Meiou, and this is Radiant Heart Academy. "...You seem to already know me, but I'm Adora." She introduces herself in turn. She learned a little bit of 'polite society', after all!

Aaaand then earth is being explained. Huh. "...Wow that's. Really weird, like, the opposite of Etheria where basically everything is magical and everyone knows about magic." Except the horde but that's beside the point. ...Did she maybe end up out of the portal WAY into a future where Etheria's magic died and the horde won and made a really boring society in place of magical society? ... That'd be weird why would they do that also there'd be more horde soldiers about in that case.

Probably.

"People who are interested in power... like Shadow Weaver or Hordak..." She muses to herself. Aaand... people who would normally be at each others throats in a company called Obsidian. "Okay, so the Horde is alive and well and calling itself Obsidian, understood... and... Glimmer is involved in it???" She pauses, frowning slightly. "I... uh." She pauses. "I'm assuming you're part of the Princess Alliance here, then?" Which would explain why she knows Bow. Also thank goodness. Bow is here.

At least one person she can probably rely on.

...And possibly cry on.
Setsuna Meiou As Adora takes a moment to work things out aloud, Nurse Meiou uses it as an excuse to eat some of her bagel...though she does hand over a small bag with extra hash browns if Adora runs out of food.

Most everyone likes them, so she got extras.

Once the blonde has gotten to the end, she waves a hand, "Not ACTUALLY the Horde, if those were the main villains where you come from...but from what I gather, very much the same kind of group. Interested in conquest and power and generally not really that concerned with getting them."

After a moment, Nurse Meiou sighs, "And as for the 'Princess Alliance'..."

She trails off, momentarily getting a distant expression as she ponders that the Sailor Senshi technically ARE a 'Princess Alliance' given that all of them are princesses.

After a soft chuckle, she goes on, "...Radiant Heart is on the surface, a normal school, if a very prestigious and high-end one...but it has backers that work to gather the various magic-aligned groups working for the side of good...because sadly, one of the other side effects of that aforementioned magical cataclysm is that the vast, vast majority of those who are capable of using magic at all are teenagers."

She scowls, "Of course, the bad guys aren't as limited, but that's because they generally use what we call around here 'Dark Energy'. It's far easier to use but as you might imagine, it tends to have rather detrimental effects on one's mental state and tends to lead to people making decisions like trying to extinguish the sun so theyu can replace it, or bonding themselves to demons for more power."

Nurse Meiou pauses after all that to let Adora process some more, and takes the opportunity to finish off her bagel and take a drink before she goes on, "One thing to let you know is that most of the magical people around here are masquerading as normal people for various reasons...and that the veil that conceals magic from normal supports this. You're going to find that if you end up fighting against Obsidian that some of your allies will introduce themselves to you...and when they share thier identities, you'll probably have a moment where that veil lifts and you can actually recognize that the person in front of you who looks JUST LIKE the person you've met elsewhere ACTUALLY IS said person when you couldn't make that connection before."

After a moment, she shrugs, "...it's wierd...but you'll get used to it..."

There's a beat, then she goes on, "...or you'll have a psychotic episode."
Adora Rainbowfist Adora did, in fact, run out of food pretty quickly. She'd probably be able to give Usagi a run for her money with the way she inhales it, really. Especially since it's pretty tasty food! ... Not as good as some of the home cooked meals she's had but still!

"It's close enough, at least. What kind of bots and vehicles do they use here? Or is it mainly soldiers that fight for them?" She asks, finishing off those extra hashbrowns and licking the oil off her fingers.

...She learned SOME manners... but not /that/ many evidently.

And Radiant Heart is being explained. "Ah, so that is why all of the magical people are scholaires. And why the .. me ... that was here before was also one." Yes, she did just pronounce 'scholars' wrong while trying to sound all knowledgable and fancy.

Paaaause. "Wait. So ... it's..." She pauses. "Almost exactly the same as back home, most of the people fighting the Horde's war were also teenagers, which in hindsight was really weird but it was the same for the princess alliance, a lot of the adults stayed home except for Nettossa and Spinnerella and a few of the soldiers and stuff." All of this is not really doing much to kill that theory forming in Adora's head where she's somehow been flung far into the future in a world where the Horde won and killed all memory of magic to reduce the threat to their power.

...It's not the worse theory she's ever had, really.

"So Shadow Weaver would probably still be around and have power, since she pretty exclusively uses dark magic, then..." She muses. The talk of how dark energy has negative impacts on mental state gives Adora a somewhat conflicted look. A moment of thoughtfulness and... a brief, sad look. If Shadow Weaver hadn't been using darkness, would their childhood have been...

No, thinking about 'what ifs' doesn't help anyone, Adora.

"I... see. So there's some sort of magic that, like, would protect people from recognizing me as Adora when I'm She-Ra? ... Beyond, you know, turning into an 8 foot tall woman who has like twice my muscle mass." It's weird, but you'll get used to it. "...Honestly besides the masquerade bit this all sounds very familiar and not weird at all which when I say it out loud sounds /very/ weird at the same time."
Setsuna Meiou Nurse Meiou absently debates correcting Adora on her pronounciation, but decides to set that aside for now, "Pretty much. I mean, *I* don't change height at ALL and nobody recognizes me, either...despite being uncommonly tall for basically anyone around here and having what SHOULD be rather distinctive features."

She snorts, "You'll see what I mean later."

Nurse Meiou waves a hand dismissively, "In any event, people working for Obsidian generally use variously-empowered creatures for their rank and fodder. Some of them are objects that have been turned into monsters, some of them are people that have been turned into monsters but can be saved if purified. Fortunately, there are a few mahou...our generic term for magical fighters...who specialize in purification magic like Sailor Moon. And for the most part, most of the groups working for Obsidian are focused on harvesting energy they drain from the general populace in order to further whatever ends they're working on...but for the most part, Obsidian tends to keep their efforts subtle."

Nurse Meiou hrms at Adora for a few moments, then ponders the rather martial-minded questions she'd been asked and tries to provide a bit of a mental bridge, "...to put it another way, we're in something of a 'Cold War' with Obsidian...neither side is really able to work overtly, and any conflicts that do arise are generally just comparatively low-intensity skirmishes."

She scowls for a moment, "...which isn't to say that there isn't danger and that people can't die...just that these engagements don't flare into huge battles."

The nurse takes a few moments to finish off her mocha, then shrugs and goes on, "I don't know of anyone called 'Shadow Weaver', but if she's from your world, I'm reasonably certain she's not here based on what I know of Obsidian."
Shehe pauses, then goes on, "...mainly because if she's a big name in your world, I doubt that she'd have let Catra or Glimmer work as freely as they have over here."
Adora Rainbowfist "Right, right... and just because someone knows me doesn't mean I'll be able to recognize them because of this... 'veil' thing..." Adora comments absently. Nevermind that a lot of people might know her regardless, but that's just something she's not thinking of right now. It's going to lead to some accidentally correct guesses, though, probably!

"So they use creatures here? Like some sort of beast mastery kind of thing? Hmmm..." That's... different. Not that she's not used to fighting creatures, too, the whispering woods were crawling with them when she went to train with Light Hope. "So they can corrupt animals and items now... and you guys call princesses 'Mahou'... okay. I see." And they gather... energy? So to power their corrupting things, probably. Or maybe let off some giant weapon to end the war all at once.

Cold war. "So... it's... more like a quiet... I see. So lots of subterfuge and sneaking around right now, basically." Adora leans forward, quietly putting the pieces together in her mind. "So there's no big assaults on towns or capitals, because both groups are focused on relatively small elite cells to quietly take out the opposing side." That sounds like the kind of thing Catra would do, too.

"It's possible if she's here she just... isn't directly involved in things. She mostly sent other people to handle things where I'm from, because she was second in command of the horde, so such things were below her unless someone was directly invading The Fright Zone. And even then they'd probably send some robots to handle it, or some soldiers." She comments.

...That last comment though. "...Though, you're... probably right on that last one. She barely let Catra do much of anything, most of the time." Then again, there were ... other ... factors. "...Anyway." She pauses. "...I, uh." Paaaause. "What kind of scholaire was I here, anyway?"
Setsuna Meiou Nurse Meiou absently cleans up a little as Adora works through some things, nodding when she gets the general gist of the level of conflict in the Tokyo mahou scene.

At Adora's question, Nurse Meiou snorts, "I think you're working at a bit of a bit of a misapprehension, Miss Rainbowfist. You're not a 'kind' of scholar. Here in Japan, and in basically all of the civilized world, general education is mandantory. While Radiant Heart is a more prestigious school, it's one of several thousand across the country. Very nearly every child in the nation goes through a standardized level of basic education from the time they're about six until the time they're about eighteen. Having a well-educated populace is highly conducive to the running of a modern industrialized country in this world, since without magic, everything is accomplished with machines."

She waves at Adora, "...currently, you're in 10th grade out of twelve...and while you're going to be rather behind in a few categories, you'll find you have a lot of friends who will be quite happy to help you get up to speed."

She frowns, "I imagine that the subject that will probably give you the toughest time will be History...and if you find yourself struggling there, feel free to come see me and I can help you."

The nurse chuckles and shakes her head, "...I've seen most of it, after all."
Adora Rainbowfist "Oh. Uh. So I'm not... an art major. Or an art history double major. I see. In that case..." Adora opens her mouth as if about to say something, but frankly, saying 'I'm kind of glad for my Horde training' is kind of something she can't get out. She just kind of awkwardly closes her mouth. "...You. Uh. Are probably right. On the being behind on things." But honestly the thought of it is weirdly welcome. Overwhelming, but better than focusing on

Other things.

"So uh. When is uh, training class usually? Or is it kind of like the princess alliance where that's generally kind of like, on your own or just like, with your friends? Like is there a 'guard training' course or..?" She asks, trying to focus on something that sounds much less terrifying than having to actually learn art and art history. "Wait. General education. WILL THEY TEACH ME TO COOK DELICIOUS FOOD HERE???"

...Well.
At least some things stay the same across versions of Adora.
Setsuna Meiou Nurse Meiou shakes her head, "No, up until Grade 12 is just general education freely provided by the State. However, if you wish to continue your education beyond that in specialized subjects of say, Art, Engineering, Science, or the like, then there are Universities for that. In our society, education is organized, mostly in the mornings and early afternoons, five to six days a week. Generally the day is broken up into hourlong blocks for individual classes to provide a generalized basic level of knowledge for all students. A few are required, but there are some electives and clubs to round out various interests and or skills."

She sits back a bit, then smiles, "...and while the classes here only provide a very basic level of cooking skill...well, there are some clubs that focus on cooking as well as more than a few of the students who are dab hands at it."

There's a moment where the nurse grins, "If you want to get into that...well, you can probably ask your roommate, Miss Kino, as I'm told she's a fairly good cook."

She frowns, "You'll have to be careful about any cooking you do on campus, however. Officially, you're not allowed to cook in the dorms."

She then gives Adora a sly sideways look, "Mainly that's a policy put into place so that clumsy teenagers don't accidentally start a fire trying to cook a can of soup. As long as you use cooking appliances that don't have a danger of causing a fire, or cause a fuss about it, most floor monitors tend to look the other way about it."
Adora Rainbowfist "So guard training to protect against monsters and stuff would be a secondary class done after achieving the 12th grade of scholaire. I see." Paaaaause. "That seems really inefficient, it's best to start training the body and mind when you're younger since your muscles and stuff are still growing." Adora says, before hesitating, "At least, uh, that's... what I was told... while being trained, myself." Ahem.

Yeah the whole 'there's no real monsters here' revelation is probably going to happen soon but that's beside the point. "Oh. So there's a cooking class but it's like a secondary thing that the scholaires set up themselves to practice cooking on their own time. That makes sense, I suppose. So that those that are interested in perfecting their craft can work together to excel even further beyond and achieve the highest rank of chef." Nod.

"..."

"I uh. I'll make sure to talk with my room mate about that. That's... gonna be an awkward conversation, isn't it. 'Hi, I don't know you but I guess you probably know me but I'm your room mate still'." ... Her gaze shifts down, somewhat of the weight of the situation, a weight she'd been putting off, seeming to fall on her shoulders.

Though she's trying to hide it, a couple of tears are welling up in the corners of her eyes, as a bit of the sheer overwhelmingness of the situation seems to be slipping out. "...How am I even supposed to talk to any of them... The situation was chaos, but, I mean... Glimmer..."

She hesitates, whatever she was about to say not escaping her lips as one hand shifs up to rub at her cheeks, a way to attempt to stealthily rub away those tears and hide them, putting back together that face, that focus on just keeping on moving forward. "Glimmer probably still needs Adora, even if I'm not her Adora. I'm... I'm sure I can still find a way to help her with... /whatever/ is going on. Yeah. And, I mean, if nothing else, I still have the sword and can turn into She-Ra and that's pretty good at solving most of the worst situations."
Setsuna Meiou Unfortunatly (or perhaps fortunately) for Adora, Nurse Meiou was not only expecting Adora to succumb to emotion, she's decently good at spotting the early signs of it, too.

Thus, when the tears begin to well up in the younger woman's eyes, said nurse quickly steps over and kneels down to, if Adora accepts, wrap her in a gentle hug, "Miss Rainbowfist...Adora...that conversation might be slightly awkward...but not as much as you imagine. Here in this place, in this world? Wierd is something we've rather gotten used to...and most of us here have seen things far wierder than a young woman who's been replaced by a younger version of herself."
Adora Rainbowfist Adora less ... accepts, so much as just, allows the hug to happen, to wrap her up. She closest her eyes, those tears that had been wiped away almost immediately coming back as Adora hesitates at first, before wrapping her arms back around Setsuna in return.

She doesn't immediately respond with words, but her actions probably speak volumes. She doesn't wail or sob or anything like that, she simply buries her face in Setsuna's shoulder. If not for the warm wetness she could likely feel and the occasional slight, barely suppressed shuddering breath, it might be hard to tell that Adora is even crying. A position she'd probably stay in for a short while.

Before eventually speaking. "...I saw every one of them... fade out... disappear... and now, now... there's a new world... and a whole new circumstance and..." She just kind of trails off, not quite finding the words, and just... letting the sentence 'die' there, face still buried in the nurse's shoulder.
Setsuna Meiou Nurse Meiou is in no hurry to move, as she gets the feeling from Adora's reactions that the other young woman needs the time and contact.

The soft shudders are felt...and the nurse gently rubs circles on Adora's back, a reminder that there is another here to provide support and care.

When the younger woman finally speaks about what she saw, Nurse Meiou sighs a little and gives a slight squeeze, "...okay, Adora...I'm going to let you in on a little secret. That woman who was there that helped seal that portal? That was me. I am Sailor Pluto. I saw a little through that portal while it existed...and I can tell you for certain that this world? Is not that one. Nothing you do here will affect them there...and they're still there. Some of your friends have come here. Bow, Glimmer...not sure what's exactly up with her situation, but I get the feeling she's more caught in circumstances than is an outright enemy...there's that supremely annoying alicorn...hrm...Breakwind was it?"

Yes, she deliberately mangled the name.

After a moment, she goes on, "...and there are those who you are going to meet again for the first time here who you'll find will support you through thick and thin. Sailor Moon, Page Mage, Puella Red, so many others. We all have your back. And if you're having a day when things are too much? You can always come and see me and I'll do whatever I can for you. Feed you dinner and let you crash on my couch if you need. I know what it's like to be alone, and I don't like seeing others feel that way."
Adora Rainbowfist "I... I know that world was fake, I know it... it was... it was just a twisted fake world created from our memories... a place where everything was perfect, where almost everyone got what they wanted... but it... they still..." Adora exhales slowly, the hug shifting to a slight grip on the back of Setsuna's back. The other world is fine. This world isn't that one. Nothing she does here will affect them there, and they're still there. "It's... Swiftwind... he's here, huh... and Bow, and Glimmer..." She shifts a bit, pulling back from Setsuna slightly finally.

The talk of people who will support her through thick and thin. She shifts slightly, looking a bit away. "That's why you had that note. ...Because you knew today probably would be a day that's too much." A quiet realization, as well as admittance. She glances at the couch. Then thinks of the dorm room bed. "...Sleeping on the couch sounds nice."

...The bed was too soft for her, right now.
Setsuna Meiou Nurse Meiou gives Adora a soft smile, "I've been there, Adora. I know what that's like...and yes, I figured you might need a little while to process."

Seeing Adora glance at the couch, she nods towards it, "If you want to take a nap for a while here, I won't mind. Classes aren't in session right now, but I've still got some paperwork I need to do."

She stands up and walks quickly across the room to snag a pillow off one of the beds in the back corner to hand it to Adora, "...and when you wake up, I'll take you to get some supplies and clothes...and we can grab something to eat, too."
