Ahmya Karashima's Sheet

Background

Ahmya Karashima was born into a rather happy and lovely family, consisting of a doting mother, a kind father, and a reliable older brother. Living on a shrine to a harvest god in the middle of the big city made for a rather overall just... peaceful and calm childhood. Learning the family business and starting her training to be a shrine maiden from a young age and learning important skills for the task.

Life with her family was just pleasant, and created a firm foundation for whatever she might want to do in the future. Her brother helping her through harder times, while her parents calmly handled most of life's ups and downs with almost supernatural skill. It was all rather lovely...
Until she made it into school. When she arrived at school she found herself with an issue. There was only ... so much ... that she could do to talk about. Sure, people were interested in the shrine maiden thing, but when they realized it was mostly just cleaning and praying they tended to lose interest. Her home life didn't really have anything juicy to talk about, and she didn't really have much of anything to complain about. In the younger grades, this was something she could get away with just... playing with people and having fun the normal way.
But as she got older and started to approach her teenage years, it started to become an actual problem. Getting her teased, making difficulties making friends, and even causing her to have a hard time starting or continuing conversations because she just... didn't have much to talk about. And so she decided to make a change on that front.
She decided to get into things that aren't normal, things that little girls don't like. It started with collecting bugs and treating them kindly, taking care of them as well as she would take care of her geriatric old cat that she'd grown up with and loved to pieces. She had respect for insect life of course, for instance, when interacting with spiders she treated them with gentle kindness, but also respect, as many spiders were powerful huntresses in their own rights.
On a family trip to a certain area of a certain prefecture that gave reverence to the Jyrougumo yokai, she had made extra careful to be respectful of the spiders in the area, having read about their relationship with said yokai. Even having brought some mealworms to offer gently as offerings into those small webs.
The thing that truly changed her life, however, was when she encountered a particularly large golden orb weaver that was being chased and swatted at by a cat. She jumped into action, quickly moving to grab the cat and pull it away from the orb weaver, tossing it away as she gently and carefully scooped the orb weaver itself into her clothing with minimal worry for her own potential safety, and carrying it to another area.
Surprisingly, the orb weaver hadn't bitten Ahmya, in fact it seemed to have realized it was safe within this shrine maiden's robes, seeming to settle in calmly as she took it to a nearby forest, and standing near the edge of a waterfall she carefully held out her hand to coax the orb weaver out, whispering that it was fine now, and quietly admiring the beauty of the large arachnid.

It was then that a voice rang out, "My, my... such gentle reverence for my daughter. It seems that someone has been taught well."
The voice came from a woman of untold beauty, wrapped in a kimono and threads seeming to float in the air around her. Feet in sandals that came to points that seemed to cause mere ripples to appear atop the water as she walked out from the cave beside the waterfall, crossing the water with ease as if it were simply another surface.
Ahmya was enraptured, unable to look away until she thought rather suddenly that this was when she should be bowing. A long conversation followed. Many questions from 'Auntie Rache' to the young girl, and just as many answers. The conversation started off more formal, but eventually it was almost as if talking to her own aunt, Ahmya finding herself talking excitedly about her loves and passions, as the being before her talked in kind. It seemed as if the conversation lasted for a short eternity, though it was little over an hour or two.
At the end, Auntie Rache walked up to the girl and gently rested a hand on her cheek. She spoke of giving her a blessing, one that would hurt at first, but that it would be one she would be glad to have in the weeks to come, as great disturbances were spreading across the world. A gentle offering. A pact to be made.
Be it through manipulation or genuine connection with this yokai, Ahmya had already been endeared to the woman, and she accepted this pact. Moments later, there was a searing pain within her right eye, and Ahmya found herself staring at Auntie Rache, holding a lightly glowing sphere with an iris the color of her eyes, and Ahmya's right eye was... clouded. If she focused she could still see things, but it was as if through a haze of golden threads. "Be not afraid, your sight will return in time. But I am no blessed being, I can offer no blessings without a pact. This was the least I could take while giving you the most." Auntie Rache spoke softly, before gently wrapping that webbed eye in a carefully weaved covering. "You will need to study, to grow in your power, your roots as a shrine maiden will have helped, but now you must delve into the arcane as well. Go, and know that Auntie Rache is always watching."
Upon returning home, her parents were shocked to hear the tale. The sight of their beautiful daughter's eye webbed as it was... and yet they dared not to challenge the yokai of the waterfall -- it was a powerful spirit, worshipped in the area, after all. Upon returning home, Ahmya found herself struggling to explain the missing eye. Nobody believed the real story, so she started to simply make it wilder, more crazy, talking about how it held great power and how it would destroy the world if she let it loose!
Little did she know, in a way, she was right... though she hadn't needed it yet, so the power of Goldenweb Yorotsuchi hadn't manifest yet.

Personality

Ahmya has had a good life, and honestly, in spite of her having become a bit chuuni and wild in her teenage years.... it shows. Ahmya has a generally kind and sweet personality, generally willing to help and happy to spend time with her small friend group whenever possible. She's that friend that frequently is busy, but regularly is willing to make time even if she is busy to help when she can. She has a good relationship with her family, close with her doting mother, Mino, relying on her wise dad, Inage, and playing video games with her older brother Tokumoto when they both have time between work and school. And she absolutely LOVES spending time with her little sister, Shinoki, the precious little sprout.
Of late, she's grown rather fond of insects and the occult, delving deep into rituals and spell books wherever she can find them. Most of them fake, but still learning from them regardless, as she'd been given those instructions from her 'Auntie Rache', and being a good girl, she was listening... even if she wasn't entirely sure what to think of the beautiful spirit that speaks with her rather regularly now... through her own eye... which honestly was kind of weird but in a cool way.
Fighting is honestly not Ahmya's first resort, but when she's pushed to it, she'd generally rather end it quickly, after all, even if it may be a monster youma or evil being... it's best not to make anything suffer any longer than necessary. In a way this results in a somewhat borderline vicious fighting style where she doesn't hesitate to go for the 'kill' immediately, but it's fueled by a kindness, almost sadness when pushed to it.

Powers

Goldenweb Yorotsuchi wields an old family heirloom from Ahmya's family shrine, an old Odachi(Nameless, though it seems as if Yorotsuchi gives it a different name almost every fight, she generally defaults to 'Willcutter', though the name has nothing to actually do what it can do) said to have been a gift to the family by a spirit. Though not magical in and of itself, Yorotsuchi's own magic infuses it when fighting, allowing it to effectively fight against spirits. Runes etched of golden webs running down its blade and able to be changed on the fly for various different effects, such as making it heavier or lighter as needed, or blessing it with energy to create a particularly potent strike. When actually fighting with the sword, Yorotsuchi makes use of large rings on the back of the blade traditionally used to hang it as part of combat instead, using strong golden webs to let her strike further, throw her sword, and generally do things people generally shouldn't do with a sword to increase her avenues of attack with it.

As for her actual magic, Goldenweb Yorotsuchi's magic is regularly made up of rapid weaving of runes into webbing between her fingers, or applied to the ground to summon forth magical bursts or to set traps to entangle and confound her enemies. While her magical powers are widely varied, her relative inexperience in the occult results in her spells being fairly limited to mainly magical blasts or wrapping enemies in her webbing through traps, along with some very basic purification based on her history as a shrine maiden-- however said purification is at odds with the source of her power, a pact with a yokai, so its application and power is... weak at best, and mainly only effective in concert with other magic users.
