| Synopsis: | Coco approaches Adora to relay her the information she got from Seira after her conversation with Glimmer. Considerations are made, some helpful, some embarassing. |
| Cast of Characters: | Coco Kiumi, Adora Rainbowfist |
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
It had taken a bit before Seira could depart again from Michel's soul and appear to Coco so she could inform of her of everything Glimmer had told her. Some of it surprising, some of it frustrating, all of it made it clear how much Glimmer was going to be entangled deep in dark energy and others needed to know sooner rather than later, most of all Adora.
That's how the yellow mermaid had sent her a message, a quick text explaining she has info about Glimmer, and they should probably meet up somewhere private.
<PHONE> Coco Kiumi texts Adora Rainbowfist: Let's meet up at the beach first.
<PHONE> Coco Kiumi texts Adora Rainbowfist: Then we can get to the South Pacific.
<PHONE> Coco Kiumi texts Adora Rainbowfist: Should be quiet there.
Right now, Coco is by herself, with no trace of any otter or penguin or orange spirit at her side, shoes sinking slightly in the sand of the beach, while her right hand fiddles with her shell locket and Sealing Key, going back and forth between them.
- Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
Getting texted by ... a mermaid! ... With information about Glimmer. And how they should meet up on the beach and go to the south pacific. Adora's responses were fairly simple, really.
<Phone> Adora Rainbowfist texts Coco Kiumi: What? Information about *sparkleemote*?
<Phone> Adora Rainbowfist texts Coco Kiumi: K. Will meat at *beachemote*
<Phone> Adora Rainbowfist texts Coco Kiumi: I'll make sure to wear a *swimsuit emoji*
She had opted to wear a one-piece swimsuit, the swimsuit itself a white swimsuit with a cutout on the sides, with a pink sparkly sarong and swimsuit cover mesh top. She was barefoot, having left her sandals, bag, and phone at some locker at the edge of the beach that she'd rented. As she approached, she lifted her hand to wave towards Coco, a small bracelet of what looks like fake creamy-pink pearls around her wrist.
"Hi, Coco!" She calls out towards the other girl, having not even questioned why they were meeting at the beach. Or going to the ocean. Or anything like that. She either failed to think about it or just went 'Oh she's a mermaid, that makes sense she'd want to meet at the ocean'.
...Nevermind that she's not always a mermaid.
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
Adora's thinking isn't really wrong, at least not as far as it pertains what Coco is: if she confronted Coco about it, the blonde girl would reply she is a mermaid, and whichever guise she is currently using matters very little to that fact. It's however also true that Coco's thoughts are more along the lines of 'let's do this at my home' rather than 'I am a mermaid, so we must do this in the ocean'.
Blame a bout of bad reception, blame Coco focusing on looking for when Adora would come, either way the ocean idol has missed the text about Adora bringing a swimsuit, else she would have explained her normal clothes were fine, that they have magic in place to make land-dwellers comfortable when they come visit.
Oh well.
With the other blonde's arrival, Coco raises her arm in greeting with a bright smile, only a passing flash of surprise over her golden eyes at seeing Adora in a swimsuit. If she feels more comfortable that way, she has little to say against it.
"Hello, Adora. Ready to do this then?", she speaks up, the Yellow Pearl inside her shell locket shining briefly with the opening of the portal at Coco's will. They can spend time on proper greetings later, when they don't have the risks of being seen in this situation.
Coco steps through the portal, her form returning to her mermaid self on the other side, and when Adora steps through, she will find herself in an underwater palace, with finely decorated columns holding up the ceiling, and at the center a giant open yellow shell, cushioned on the bottom section, and able to breathe despite being completely submerged.
- Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
Let's be honest, Adora probably would have worn a swimsuit anyway. Why go to the beach and /not/ splash around a little? That just feels like some sort of crime against the beach. Not that she was likely to get all that wet in the ocean today but that's beside the point. It was a cute swimsuit and cute outfit and she'd possibly been waiting for a good excuse to wear it. She either didn't notice the surprised look or just didn't comment on it, instead just giving a bit of a nod. "Sure! Sounds good to me."
Aaand then there was a portal. Huh.
A portal.
Of course it was a portal. That makes sense.
She was hesitant for a moment before finally deciding to trust Coco and go through the portal. It's fine. There's no sword of power to have her trapped here forever or anything this time.
Aaand stepping through leads to ... a pretty underwater palace. Her mouth drops open a moment as she looks around with one of those 'Whoaaaaa' kind of looks. "Okay this is a cool place to call home." She comments absently. Yeah her brain is taking a moment to catch up as she follows after Coco to where they're going to be chatting.
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
"We have worked a lot on rebuilding it", Coco smiles proudly at Adora's compliment, though she doesn't intend on moving anywhere in particular. They don't really have such things as chairs down here, not when water essentially allows them to 'sit' anywhere without much trouble, the exceptions being the shell throne in the room and beds. Adora could ask they bring a bed over, if she is more comfortable actually sitting.
"Welcome to the South Pacific", she comments with her crystalline timbre, kicking the water with her tail to come a bit closer to Adora once she has taken care of closing the portal. "I hope you have been ok, despite that fight the other day."
A hand going up to Seira's shell locket at Coco's neck. "I don't think you have met Seira, she is the one who met with Glimmer and gave me information about your friend." Though, the 'meeting' was more forced on both ends, in a way.
At Coco's mention, the orange shell locket shines, and the translucent orange mermaid appears alongside them. "Hi, Seira", Coco smiles at her protegee. "This is Adora, Glimmer's friend. Adora, this is Seira, the next princess of the Indian Ocean."
"Introductions done, a simple question is uttered by Coco. "So, Adora, Glimmer has started fighting together with Michel's generals, you have seen that the other day, right?"
- Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Well! It seems like you did a lot of good work rebuilding it." Also she's breathing water. Adora should probably be questioning that but whatever, it's fine. It seemed they were more or less just going to chat there. She wasn't really swimming but kind of floating in place too. Just hanging out there. "I've been pretty fine, honestly. I didn't get hurt or anything -- just a bit tired! I'm not hesitant to fight when I can even without magic but I know well enough to not engage when it's /really/ dangerous." And that in and of itself took a lot of willpower, she kept wanting to yell 'FOR THE HONOR OF GREYSKULL' and charging in but that wasn't working recently.
Talk of Seira gets a little confirmation nod. "Yeah. I uhm. Haven't really met her, no." And then a translucent orange mermaid appears! ... Who looks kind of like a ghost or something. "Oh. Uhm." She gives an awkward half-bow-half-salute. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Adora Rainbowfist. The, uh, former Princess of Power. Since I can't really turn into She-Ra I ... probably can't really claim that anymore though, heh." She says that like she's joking but it mostly probably just comes off as awkward joking.
"And uhm. Yeah, I'm guessing that's who she was fighting alongside her? One of Michel's generals? That explains why she always seemed to be having me redirected whenever I got too close to Glimmer." She muses out loud thoughtfully to herself. Tactical separation of her former life to her new life. And with Bow off doing... whatever and Entrapta being Entrapta ... hm. Glimmer probably is in danger of being very alone. Well, it's fine, there's lots of good people here so she's sure that even if she can't become She-Ra she'll have good help.
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
Coco gives an understanding smile at Adora's explanation of her cautious behaviour during the last fight. "I am glad you were able to stay safe despite fighting at a disadvantage. That's rough", she sympathizes with the Eternian, though... "I didn't really fight when Sunbreaker took my powers. I was mostly stuck in Setsuna's bathroom at the time", she shares with a bashful smile. Because, no powers means no magic to keep up a human guise with.
"So far, we have met Lanhua, a woman with butterfly wings who can split herself and use puppeteering magic, Lady Bat, the vampire, and Alala, a pixie with dream and fire powers", Coco summarizes what they know about the situation. "They may bring around a pieces of Seira's heart fragments sometimes. If you find one, please bring it to me. They are necessary to bring her back."
"Hi, Adora-san", Seira greets respectfully, looking at her with an intent gaze. "I am currently connected with Glimmer, so we have talked a bit, the two of us", she preludes, skimming over the details of the situation. She is more focused on how this affects Adora, unless the Eternian asks. "She brought up you not being able to turn into She-Ra. She thinks you can still turn into her."
- Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"...I uh. I broke the sword on my own but that's. Uh. That's a long story as to why pretty much." Adora responds awkwardly. "My powers were technically not... stolen... but well..." She gives a soft sigh and a shrug. "It wasn't a good situation, frustrations and suspicions that this world were wrong and ... other ... things built up and I ended up getting one of those... butterfly... things."
She didn't really have a better explanation than that, really.
As Coco begins to explain the various different generals, a splitting butterfly, the vampire they fought, and then a dream pixie. Huh. Interesting. "...Alright, if I end up getting ahold of those somehow, I'll make sure to bring it to you." There's a hesitation to her response though, that brief thought of 'Not that that's likely right now' causing a hesitation.
And Seira begins to talk a bit, summarizing things. She gives a soft sigh on that. "She's... part of why I broke the sword to begin with, she was pushing me basically every time I saw her, asking why I was still using the Sword of Power that I had -- the Eternian one -- and saying it was dangerous and... eventually I just. Ended up breaking it and then, well, unlike what she said." She holds her hand over her head, trying to focus, trying to pull out the sword. "For the honor of greyskull!" She calls out.
...It's honestly half-hearted. There's the briefest, tiniest golden-yellow glow that seems to flicker for a half second. And then.
Nothing.
For the hundredth time since she broke the sword.
Still nothing.
And in this place thousands of feet below the water, with a mermaid she knew... just a little, and a ghost she didn't know, she had a moment where she just. Let herself look defeated.
"...It's always like that."
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
There is a visible wince from Coco, and the yellow mermaid, gets even closer to Adora. "Mind if I give you a hug?", she asks, arms already semi-open to try and give her a bit of consolation if she intends to accept that. "I understand, I am sure you will find a way to be magical again, when you feel ready. You are still magical, so it could happen at any chance. If you need help with anything between now and then, don't hesitate to talk to talk to me", Coco gives her an encouraging smile.
"We are not sure that's all of them, but Seira didn't pick up on any more than them at Michel's side", Coco concludes the explanation. "And about your powers, Glimmer has her own ideas and plans about it. You saw her using dark energy during the last fight, and it seems she intends to fake going evil for the sake of drawing out your powers again. But you know how dark energy is, how it feels. I am not sure she won't end up going evil for real", Coco warns the Eternian.
"You have to know", Seira interjects, "that she is also sympathizing with Michel, and I get why, there is a lot going on with him, but while we both think he should be dragged away from his situation somehow, she is the one getting ensnared, and I am not sure she realises it", she crosses her arms, tapping one with her fingers. Not that there is an accompanying sound.
Coco bites her lips when Adora fails to draw out her own power. Sure, fails, but even then, there was a response, as limited as it was. If Glimmer saw that, she can understand why the pinkette would think becoming a threat would make Adora turn into She-Ra again. The block is likely in Adora's mind, not in lack of magic.
"Have you tried sparring with someone, Adora?", Coco suggests. "That might be able to give you a chance to obtain your confidence again. That might be where the problem is. And we could mix my magic with it, since it helps regulate emotions among other things", Coco suggests.
- Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
The open arms are received with a hug fairly freely, Adora a little bit awkward in it in spite of accepting said hug, but still accepting it regardless. "...I just... don't know why I can't turn into her like I'm supposed to be able to, every time I try it's like I'm standing on the edge of it happening but it just... kind of ... I don't know. It's almost like she doesn't want to be around." Adora says with a sigh.
She gives a small nod as she listens to the further explanation of the generals... but also the explanation of Glimmer. And her ideas and plans and... her using dark energy and 'faking' going evil. "She's... she's been faking being evil this whole time, so her plan is to ... fake harder being evil?" Honestly it's not the worst plan but she wasn't sure how that would help, she already had /one/ extremely complicated evil ... maybe not evil? relationship with a friend in the form of Catra. And then... well... she gives a soft exhale. "Yeah. It doesn't feel good at all..."
She didn't have it as bad as Oldora did, but she had her moment with dark energy. In the moment it felt amazing, but afterwards it was ... much less so. She frowns quietly. So Glimmer was empathizing with a problem, she might be in danger if she continues dealing with that problem, and she.... she doesn't even... well. She can't do much about it right now.
The offering about trying sparring with her gets a hesitant response from Adora. "I... don't... really know if it's a confidence thing... I stopped being able to use it after I broke the sword -- and after I called on a different power. I'm not sure where the words even came from, but I called on 'The power of snake mountain' and became, well... a messed up version of me with a skeletal arm and... yeah." Pause.
"The arm got better. But... I don't know. I've just kind of... it feels like I don't have much choice to become magical again, but also other people said I didn't /have/ to be magical again and it's... it's all weird." Yeah, she's having a lot of conflicting feelings. "...Maybe though... I could sometime..." She frowns quietly.
But she'd already fought things, and even relatively confidently. "...But maybe She-Ra doesn't want to come out anymore, since I forsaked the honor and called on Power instead."
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
There is a nod from both mermaids when Adora points out the fallacy in Glimmer's plan. Neither of them is sure how much of it is overconfidence, or simply desperation to make things go right. "On some level, Glimmer is suffering from feeling alone. That's why she accepted to work for Michel, because she wanted her mom back. And now she has gotten that, but she has just jumped onto your She-Ra problem instead. She didn't even stay with her mom", Seira notes with a sad sigh.
Really, why work for something if you don't allow yourself to reap the fruits? If she had a body, she would study a way to both kick and hug Glimmer at the same time.
There is a small amount of displaced water when Adora remarks that she doesn't think it's a confidence problem, only to add that She-Ra doesn't want to come out since Adora forsook her honour, when Coco's tail has a spasm kicking the water, the equivalent of tapping the ground with your foot.
The yellow mermaid is not sure if Adora is listening to herself right now. Forget emotional control, this calls for hitting record. Maybe then she would get some sort of epiphany. "Adora, you caused a reaction just now. You are She-Ra. There is no other She-Ra putting her foot down and saying no", Coco points out brashly.
"If you don't want to be magical anymore, if you want to use this moment to take a break, then go do that. I am not sure there would be another chance like this one. But if you want to go back to fighting, then this is a moment you get to rise to the occasion. Let's do it, Adora, let's work together!", Coco extends her hand towards the Eternian with an encouraging smile.
- Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"...Yeah, she gave her mom over to me and Catra to keep an eye on." Which has been helpful, if nothing else, because she had someone who she could talk to who understood some of the, well... Situation that she'd gone through, having also been stuck in the portal and all that. "...And her own magic is ... not working right now so I think that she's leaning heavier on the dark magic and feeling my own lack of magic... more."
Ugh. She frowns a bit at that. And then... then Coco says the thing. That /she/ is She-Ra.
"..." She watches that wave of the tail as she quietly thinks on that for a few moments. "But..." She crosses her arms over her chest. "...I literally see her in my dreams as a separate person, she's... not really me. That's... not really how She-Ra works, I'm just. The current wielder of She-Ra. There was another before me, even, and Madame Razz calls 'Mara' whenever she sees me and..." Unfortunately, she's probably still too in denial to be able to accept something like that.
If you want to take this moment to take a break... and then... then Coco reaches a hand out towards her. Asking her to work together with her. "..."
Ah.
This is how Catra must have felt.
That feeling that even if she wanted to take that hand, she can't.
Adora's arms wrap around herself in a somewhat closed off manner. "I..."
She's not really saying no, but she's hesitating. Sure, she'd been constantly trying to become She-Ra again, but there was a tiny part of her that was asking a horrible, self-sabotaging question.
...Does she even WANT to be She-Ra anymore?
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
Coco doesn't have much a reaction to Adora saying there was a previous She-Ra, but she was starting to have a much better perspective of the doubt that plagued her. Discovering that there was someone else, and having to rework your understanding of the situation... That would be a problem for anyone in her same situation.
Coco's hands move to the clasp of her shell locket, and the precious item is then laying flat in her palm, extended so Adora can take a look at it. "Hey, Adora-san, have a look at this", she says, raising the upper lid with her other hand, revealing a shining yellow pearl encased in its center.
"This is what allows me to transform, and it's also where all princesses of the South Pacific Oceans are born from", she also makes a nod to Seira. "She was being born from the Orange Pearl because Sara died, but Michel intervened, and now she is stuck midway."
The mermaid spirit doesn't speak, watching the scene unfold with intent eyes. "Both Sara and Seira are the rightful owners of their powers, and so am I, no matter how many predecessors we have had. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Even if Mara was She-Ra, you are She-Ra too, so please be more confident in yourself", she smiles gently.
- Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
Adora shifted out of that closed off position a little as the shell locket is held out for her to look at. She quietly examines it as the lid is raised to show that pearl. She gives a small nod as she thinks on that. "..So it's kind of like your mom?" That's... certainly an interesting situation. Two people she knew having basically gemstones being their moms -- well okay Angella was more TRAPPED in a gemstone and frankly that was better than the expected alternative she'd had, honestly.
"...Hm." She frowns thoughtfully at that. She didn't have a focus like how Coco did. Maybe that was part of the problem? She hadn't been using the gemstone that had been in the Sword of Power or anything, she'd just been told she could kind of ... summon the sword. Maybe something like that would help? ... Then again maybe that was just a fake thing like the sword itself had been.
Whatever that's neither here or there. Coco was explaining more. And how ... Orange Pearl was stuck halfway because of Michel. "That's awful..." She glances towards the ghost. That look of someone who wanted to help but felt like she couldn't significantly help plain on her face for a moment in that glance.
But it's not pity, at the very least.
"...I guess. ...But I feel like I've /been/ pretty confident and it still doesn't feel like it's been working and..." The concept that she is She-Ra just. Doesn't feel right. Doesn't SOUND right. She-Ra is so much cooler and stronger and more useful than her and --
One can almost see her head steaming a little as she tries to process and think on everything that had been gone on. "Well... whatever. ...No matter what, I guess until I become She-Ra again, Glimmer's not going to stop so I guess I'd better get going on that."
She didn't sound very confident on that.
It still felt like, in spite of many people saying the opposite.
...Everyone wanted her to be She-Ra.
"...I think I need to think about all of this. I'm, uhm. I'm ready to go back."
- Coco Kiumi has posed:
Adora's take was met with silence at first, but then it was met with different reactions from the two mermaids. "Possible?" from Coco and an "Again?" from Seira, to whom the older mermaid turned with an inquisitive look. "Seira, what do you mean 'again'?", Coco raises an eyebrow.
The orange mermaid shifts embarassed. She really does not want to say it, but it's clear Coco is only going to press. "Earlier when I got that info about Glimmer's plans, she called you my mom", she turns her face away at the same time an expression of bewilderment fell on Coco's face.
In front of that statement, Coco just... decides not to reply and face Adora again. "Anyway, if we recover Seira's heart fragments, she will be fine, just some of them are stuck with Glimmer and some with Michel, and Glimmer does not want to turns hers over because she feels indebted to Michel because she now has her mom back."
A pause. "So, you know... We will have to fight her at some point probably, even if she has promised to give them back when we took Michel's part."
But Adora wants to go back, so Coco opens a portal back to Tokyo. "That will bring us back to Yumegahama. Just, remember, Adora, what you do with She-Ra isn't wrong no matter what. You just have to be confident, and you have my full support for that."
